Personally I'd rather hunt turkeys any day than bear. So I feel sorry for ya. Sitting over bait waiting for a bear to come when I could be fishing in the lake or chasing toms Ill chase toms. I was actually glad when they brought the spring bear hunt back figured it would mean less turkey hunters in the spring :)

I've hunted both. If it takes real men to sit over garbage all day and women and children to work a turkey I'll hang with the women and children ! :p

this fricken cold, drawn out April is getting to me ... so I figured to stir the pot a little.

On another note - I'd rather eat bear then one of those sinewy, hard to swallow, thunder chickens. Add in the price of a tag - the cost per pound is way more for turkeys. And judging by the amount most guys spend on turkey equipment it makes a bear hunt sound like a deal.

and the conflict continues ...

sittin over garbage???? my bears eat better then your dogs!

We feed our bears Tim Horton donuts.
It take 400 lbs of donuts to fill 2x 45 gal drums , and we pack them in real good.
I have a friend at Tim Hortons that saves all the day old s for me.

you should see how many turkeys are in my hunting spots right after the farmer spreads the manure on top!

mmmmm turkey! maybe that's why the meat is dark.

something to ponder about.

forecast is 4 days of rain ... this can get nasty.

LOL. I've shot turkeys over fresh spread poop. Delicious hahaha. Also the meat is white not dark you Chuck Norris of bear hunting. (im joking btw as I should be hunting the way too many bears here but I wont eat them things) :lol!!!:

I'll be out opening weekend taking a few friends. I may try to take one with my bow. I just enjoy taking others out. I lost permission for my honey hole as other hunters ruined that. But still have some good spots. Bird numbers to the North are way down again this year. But around the farms areas are still solid numbers.
I don't always chase tail, but when I do; its whitetail. Stay camo my friends.

some of the other forums I post on have and link to "add attachment" .. right from your hard drive. The one site allows up to a 1mb picture and you're allowed 3 pictures max per post.

they also have ADD VIDEO and ADD IMAGE just like here if you want to go through another provider like photobackstabbers!

Well it sounds like you and the girls are doing real good chasing those thunder chickens all over the continent. Congrat's.

Sounds like you got some nice trophy gobs there.

Now if you could get a trophy bear every year and multiples of them ....

then at that point I would agree with you.

Until then the real men do hunt BEARS!

It can be tough hunting for both but I'm sure if you keep at it long enough you'll be able to figure it out. Maybe try a different type of garbage to put out ?

It appears as though you're hung up on GARBAGE.

And doing anything for a LONG TIME doesn't mean anyone will figure out anything.

No that's what bears get hung up on else you would never kill one.

I said long enough

Hey man I didn't take any of this seriously just messing around. If I was further north where I could actually hunt bear one my own terms I probably would. As far as Ontario turkey I have until the end of May so no hurry to fill those. Some days at the beginning of the season I have just called them in and took pics so I could go back out again ;)
On a better note I just found out I was successful in the Montana mulie draw so yee haw hunting mulies this fall and hopefully antelope too ! Also found that there is a great place to hunt elk an hour away from the mulie spot so gonna scout it out for next year. Good luck with your bear hunts this spring .

Oh and to rub it in my nephew keeps asking me to come to New Brunswick in the spring to hunt big bears. He regularly kills 400 pounders and gets even bigger ones on cam. If it was turkeys maybe I would go LOL !

Congrats! x2

I should have got one this am but I had to leave at 1030. When I got up I looked down the treeline and a tom was coming to my calling he was in strut and about 40 yards. Gun he would have got a ride in the truck but I'm hunting with the bow so just had to curse and watch him run away !!
