I did favorite bands/artists a while ago (like, June of 2010), but this is different, I guess... But eh, you know how it goes, post your favorite musicians. All musicians of any instrument, ranging from rock, to symphony, to electronic. I'm going to do a top 5 for different categories. (for the moment, vocals, drums/percussion, guitar, and bass). Vocals 5. Lacey Mosley - Flyleaf 4. Cristina Scabbia - Lacuna Coil and various collaborations 3. Chris Cornell - Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and solo career 2. Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, various bands 1. Myles Kennedy - Alter Bridge, Mayfield Four, Citizen Swing ____________________________________________________________ Drums/percussion 5. Brandon Barnes - Rise Against 4. Mike Portnoy - Dream Theater, and, sadly, A7X's last album (hate them) 3. Neil Peart - Rush (this was a given tbh) 2. Scott "Flip" Phillips - Alter Bridge, Creed 1. Matt Cameron - Soundgarden, Pearl Jam ____________________________________________________________ Bass guitar 5. Geddy Lee - Rush (he gets honarable mention for vocals) 4. Jeff Ament - Pearl Jam 3. Ben Shepherd - Soundgarden 2. Brian Marshall - Alter Bridge, Creed 1. Joe Principe - Rise Against ____________________________________________________________ Guitar 5. Myles Kennedy - see vocals (he's also an insanely talented guitarist) 4. Mike McCready - Pearl Jam 3. Michael Angelo Batio - More famous for his solo career. 2. Stevie Ray Vaughn - Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble 1. Mark Tremonti - Alter Bridge, Creed, work with various musicians, including #3 on my list. |

This came easily for me, but I've been thinking about it all week. I've had the stomach flu since Sunday (symptoms are gone now), so I've just been laying around, listening to my Walkman (no thank you to Ipods). List was made up from my playlists on there. |

Didn't know you liked Rise Against Marth. I hope they won't go back to the Appeal to Reason style on Endgame (their newest record, due out in March). AtR, albeit good, wasn't as great as their previous records, specifically Revolutions Per Minute (look that up if you haven't heard it, most people, in terms of individual songs, only know "Savior" or "Prayer of the Refugee"). |

Don't get me wrong, AtR was a great album. Every song was great, but, to me, it felt like something was missing. The first songs I heard by them were "401 Kill", and "My Life Inside Your Heart". When you compare those to, say "Re-Education Through Labor" and "Audience of One", imo, that edge they had (and still have, look up the "Rise" EP and "Death Blossoms," those came out after AtR) is missing when you compare those tracks. But then again, I'm an old Rise Against fanboy, but I still enjoy their new stuff. Edited by freakofnature300, Jan 14 2011, 04:52 PM.

Oh...well I didn't start listening to them until about 2007. I really didn't evolve into much Hardcore rock until after I graduated High School. I was always an Indie/Alternative Fan...but my favorite was always Progressive. And I just realized I forgot to add Smashing Pumpkins into the 90's...
