![]() Kojirō Miyamoto 宮本 小次郎 (Miyamoto Kojirō) People say I'm too strong for my own good: that might be true. Broke my arm, broke my sword (not my fault: the steel was cruddy), lost my eye... the list just goes on. For myself and for those I beaten up. Got disowned by my daimyo over the sword, but hey: it's not his goddamn sword. I paid for the shitty bladesmith. The daimyo apparently thought that bodyguards can't guard without a sword; oh well: it's his loss. I never lost a good ol' brawl though. Might break a few bones if the opponent is good, but I have always been the last one standing. That counts for something, right? A fight's 10% muscle and 90% willpower. Thank the heavens I have quite a bit of muscle. Oh, I also broke this monk's spade several times, if you haven't noticed. Tried fixing it on my own the first time and got the crescent blade fixed backwards. I only had one eye at this point: give your old man a break. It's no biggy: I just sharpened the other side of the crescent blade and bam! It's good as new. The spade underwent a couple modifications since then, including a completely new crescent blade thanks to the old man in Fire Country (I'd recommend him), but they were all for the better. My weapon was a little unwieldy at first, but I got the hang of it now. It apparently weighs a ton, but I don't feel the weight at all. Part of the charm of having this thing is looking at people's faces and imagine them thinking "what the hell is that?" That, my man, is... my monk's spade. No good with names, you know. Someone will have the bright idea at some point in time. I dunno. Why do I have a monk's spade? A monk gave it to me. Who else has monks' spades? I helped out a monk and he gave me his spade in return. A good ol' punch to the face was good enough for me, but I couldn't refuse the old man. Especially since I didn't have a sword because of that shitty bladesmith. Comes in handy every now and then. Nice talking to you. Say, do you know where the nearest bathhouse is? One with good-looking ladies. The journey was long. ![]() Skilled in the samurai arts, Kojiro utilized an unorthodox variation of the monk's spade in combat. Despite being a samurai, Kojiro's expertise would fall under the category of taijutsu, to which he was unparalleled in his publicized brawls. As a former bodyguard to an unnamed daimyo, Kojiro knew techniques designed to counter genjutsu and had some experience in fuinjutsu. He was said to be a master of Iaido, but gave up the way of the sword when he became a ronin. Most of his current skills were developed in conjunction with his unique weapon during his travels. Known Jutsu Spade Art: Anvil Destroyer Technique: After leaping into the air with his monk's spade, Kojiro descends on the target with the tip of his blade aimed at the target. He lands with enough force to make a small crater. It is his signature technique, embodying his strengths. Spade Art: Scorpion Sting Technique: An improvisational technique that he created, Kojiro punches his opponent with one hand while holding his spade behind his back. He overextends himself, giving the impression of presenting an opening, but follows up with a sharp stab at the enemy with his spade. It has enough force to push an opponent backwards, giving Kojiro time to regain balance. Five Elements Unseal: One of the few fuinjutsu that Kojiro learned, it was taught to him in order to counter potentially dangerous sealing techniques against his lord. Vacuum Spade: Originally called Vacuum Sword, Kojiro adapted its use to his monk's spade. Equipment Kojiro's Monk's Spade: A polearm weapon that Kojiro wielded. He accidentally broke it numerous times, causing the weapon to undergo radical modifications that make it almost unidentifiable with the original weapon design. However, the modifications allow the weapon to be more durable than typical weapons, as well as much heavier, fitting with Kojiro's combative style. Although Kojiro calls it a spade, the actual spade of the tool broke off and was never replaced. Homemade Blood Increasing Pills: With some medical expertise, Kojiro made his own blood increasing pills. They had a bad after-taste, but were just as effective as typical pills. Homemade Rations Pills: Kojiro made his own soldier pills. Although they did not taste good, the pills were just as effective as typical soldier pills and a relatively cheap alternative.
