Well, I finished my ironman playthrough of X-COM 3 on Easy difficulty, so the obvious next step is ... Superhuman! And in order to document my hilarious failure, I'm going to do a Let's Play of it. Anyone who wants an agent just ask, and I'll do my best to accomodate you. Let's get started! ![]()

Commander's Log - Tuesday, March 7, 2084 The emergency bill to officially sanction X-COM passed the Senate 130-17, and takes effect immediately. We're in business! To get us started, the government has provided us with a secret base located under one of their warehouses. I don't know why they had a secret base under a warehouse. I don't ask. ![]() The facilities are basic. I'll have construction started on some additional areas soon. But there's plenty of room, and it looks like the architect was only under some drugs. ![]() I should come up with a better name for our main base. I think I'll ask for suggestions from the men. (This means you, readers! Name our base!) The government also assigned us a handful of agents. We'll need to hire more to get up to full fighting strength. I aim to get up to three full squads of six agents, so I can rotate as needed. But qualified agents are hard to find, so for now, this is what we have. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I need to talk to the base steward about getting some more gear. We don't even have enough real guns to give one to each agent! I don't care what the government bureaucrats say, a stun grapple is not going to cut it in real combat. End Log |

Chief Scientist's Log - Tuesday, March 7, 2084 Finally! After years of struggling with inadequate funding and rejected research, I have finally been selected for the position I deserve! Leading X-COM's scientific research section! My credentials as the world's foremost expert on the effects of teratogenic radiation on slime molds made me the obvious choice. The labs are shockingly disorganized. Well, that's to be expected, considering the workmen haven't quite finished installing all the equipment. But the state of the research files isn't much better. I am ordering an immediate literature search for everything we know about the alien dimension gates and the proper protocol for disposal of a three-month-old ham sandwich. The researchers we have aren't anything special, but they're mine. All mine. ![]() ![]() End Log |

Chief Engineer's Log - Tuesday, March 8, 2084 So they bring me here, say they need a great engineer. Well, I'm a great engineer. They say they need more than just me, they need a LOT of great engineers. So I pleaded and cajoled and roped in some of the best engineers I could find, and packed them off to a damp smelly basement in order to "fight the dire alien threat". And what do they want me to do first? Nothing! That's right, not a blimey thing! They're "certain that the scientists will make progress quickly". I'd quit now, but that wouldn't look so good on my record, would it? "Helped defend the earth for almost a full hour!"? So here I sit. ![]() End Log |

That's it for the first minute of the game. That was a lot of screenshots. I'll wait a day or two for people to request agents and suggest base names before continuing. |

Commander's Log - Tuesday, March 7, 2084 - 1300 Event Code: TAC00 - Alien Spotted Location: Flyer One Owner: Megapol Function: Large Flier Factory Combat Report At 1300, Megapol alerted XCOM to a reported alien sighting in one of its own flier factories. Valkyrie One was scrambled with twelve agents to investigate. ![]() ![]() Upon arrival, agents began a sweep of the building. ![]() Squad 1 was assigned to clear the lower floor, while squad 2 cleared the upper floor. Almost immediately upon descending to the lower floor, squad 1 made hostile contact. ![]() Two aliens were spotted: a small, cat-sized brown alien, and a tall, human-sized blue alien. The blue alien appeared to be clutching some sort of device in its hands. Agents Fox, Tanarin and Bisclaveret advanced to attack the aliens. The small brown alien moved with surprising speed, leaping towards agent Fox. ![]() Agent Tanarin dispatched the first hostile with a quick burst of autopistol fire. ![]() Agent Tanarin then began screaming "TAKE THAT, ALIEN SCUM!" while running at full speed towards the larger alien, firing continually. ![]() After neutralizing the large alien, Agent Tanarin spotted a second large alien. He threw an anti-personnel grenade and then shot it. ![]() ![]() The remainder of the sweep discovered no further aliens. Due to a lack of suitable transport for exobiological materials, the corpses were burned. ![]() Tanarin has been promoted to Squaddie for his valiant actions. ![]() ![]() End Log |

Commander's Log - Tuesday, March 7, 2084 - 2210 Event Code: UFO01 - UFO Incursion Combat Report At 2210, the strange alien spheres over the city increased in activity. Five alien craft of unknown function somehow appeared out of them, at three sites throughout the city. ![]() All available craft were scrambled to intercept the UFOs. Megapol, the city police, also ordered its police cruisers in the area to assist. A police cruiser shot down the first UFO. ![]() Our vehicles began their attack. ![]() One of the light UFOs was destroyed by Megapol ... ![]() ... but another UFO managed to reach Cultivator One and extended some sort of tube down. It is possible the aliens deposited something in the building, I will send troops to investigate. ![]() Two UFOs were shot down, two were destroyed, and two escaped. ![]() End Log |
