Well, I love the Final Fantasy series as anyone here knows. (Otherwise, it would have been quite silly of me to admin at final Fantasy Freak. ;)) My personal favorite has always been FFVII, but I really think my love for Zidane has swayed me in the direction of FFIX. I'm not really sure which I like better now. I just love Zidane because he has a tail! |

Marci: What is the world coming to? You've become me, Xantar's become Slappy... Dragon: I bet Xantar is like the ultimate designated driver Dragon: drops off all his drunk buddies at each other's ex-girlfriends' houses Mystic Gohan: xantar has had his lasting effects on our easily influenced minds Mystic Gohan: hes probably at home cackling as we speak Me: Xantar never really talks unless you talk to him first. Marci: And that will hold until he makes the first move. I've learned. Don't ever go into a Xantar conversation blind. It's like going swimming naked. You make sure there aren't any sharks nearby and that you don't have any open wounds first. My LJ | |

Final Fantasy is possibley my favourite game series. I love all the games and have completed most. The main thing I love about these games is their unusually ammount of brilliant music and theme tunes. Both enjoyable to listen and to play, Nobuo Uematsu (Square-Enix composer) has to be the best in the business. My favourite game is probably FFVII or FFIX, they're both brilliant. |

The Final Fantasy series is good and most the games in the series are enjoyable. FFVIII is my favorite in the series though I am finding FFIV to be quite the adventure. IX was a fairly good title as was X. FFVII wasn't bad either though I prefer VI over VII. My favorite character out of the entire series is Squall. He was quite powerful had a loners attitude and I'm kinda partial to the Gunblade. My second favorite would be Locke from FFVI. You just gotta love a thief (That's Treasure Hunter!) who can steal the clothes right off your back. As for a third I can't really pick one. None of the other characters really stood out for me. Best attack in the series is Lionheart. I have yet to see one that can match it, Though Ultima Fury comes close. |

[ SPOILER(S) DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY PS FF'S ] IX compared to VII hmmmm oh wait it doesn't. IX still is the most underrated FF game amongst the majority of voters. I ask people all the time and they respond with VIII as their favourite. And their least favourite? Number 9 and vice versa. I love 9 and hate 8. The story was horrible, I am not interested in a bunch of damn school students sent to save the world. If I liked Final Fantasy 8's crap I'd still be watching Power Rangers and loving every minute of it. Whereas 9 on the other hand, you're a band of misfits; a thief, a runaway princess, a knight guarding his princess, a faceless magician who questions his existence, a female rat knight that has control over dragons somehow, a 2nd summoner for some reason and a brawler who apparently just likes the thief and joins his cause. Alright so the characters don't sound so much better. The story is a tad clichè but it works out for the best. I didn't really like the fact that you're 'not human' but it threw an interesting plot twist in there I'm sure no one saw coming. Kind of a ripoff off Cloud and Sephiroth in the sense that the hero and the rival are of the same cloth and must prove to one another their independant dominance. Eh. So yeah....there's my take on FF8 and 9. If you want a history lesson for the games just search gamefaqs for them. |

Freya didn't have control over Dragons at all. She was just a Dragoon, a knight specially trained to kill Dragons. As for my own personal opinions of the series; I find it mediocre at best. Only games that stood out for me were 4, 6, 9, X, and Tactics; with Mystic Quest hanging on for nostalgic value. Though, I do have to give at least some small thanks to FF2, seeing as how it was the springboard for one of my favorite PS1 RPG's, SaGa Frontier. Let it be known, however, that I cannot STAND FF7. Since I'm the mod, I can't exactly yell and scream about it, but I'll tell you this. *SPOILERS*If the writers can't figure out who the last boss is supposed to be based on their own writing, and have to revive a dead character to take her palce, well, the game's plot just isn't good! *END SPOILERS* Other than that, I felt the characters to be bad stereotypes that were less characters, and more "Materia Toting Dolls". Not one of the characters had any personality to them. Statistically they were all the same, which made no sense, and they didn't have any kind of unique abilities. Yuffie, a THEIF, can't even steal unless you gave her the proper materia! It just didn't do it for me. There are countless other problems I have with the game, but let's leave it at "I didn't have fun playing it". Now, Makai Kingdom, on the other hand... |

Well, I guess is everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is that FFVII is the best game ever made and yours is that it sucked. Meh. And I also enjoyed X as you mentioned. I liked X-2 too but some people didn't like it. I don't know why |

Way to stick to your guns, wolfman. And while you're at it, maybe people didn't like X-2 because it was a transparent ploy to bring in horny male teenagers with scantily dressed girls bopping to pop music backed up by half-baked game design. Or maybe it's just me. Speaking of which, if any of you were thinking of getting the Xbox 360 for Final Fantasy XI, you may want to wait and see. I don't know how Square Enix is going to pull that off when a hard drive doesn't come standard on the machine. |

What do you need the harddrive for when the damned console has a built in drive with gigs on uneeded space? TST: Makai Kingdom? I heard about it, thought about and realized, I've got disgaea, what do i need another version of it for. Odds are I'll get it soley because...nippon ichi rules my life. And FFX: I've never played a more fullfilling movie before. Yes, I said movie. You know a game has issues when you play it, take two steps, and cutscenes own you. FFX wasn't realy a game, it was more a way for Square to say: look! he has no tail! then again, the character also has no tale. It was merely a graphical showcase, which is why you can buy all 23943801730142 of the FMVs in the game from Luca. |

We're talking about a hard drive here, right? Well, as you know, MMORPGs tend to need to store your character data somewhere along with a bunch of other bits of information. If you were talking about the DVD drive in this quote, I think the problem should be pretty obvious. |

That may be true for some of them, but you will notice that Final Fantasy XI on PS2 requires the hard drive add-on. That kind of implies that it will be required on the Xbox 360 version as well. |

Other than saving the game to it, such as what you do with PC games these days, the Drive didn't do much else. |

But it's not the same! In fact it's quite a bit different, AKA WACKIER. I mean, you can wield PIES as weapons, not to mention Syringes, Helium Balloons, and Magical Girl Transformation Wands! And there's always the bonus of being able to ride in tanks and motorcycles. Plus, it has Zetta, Trenia, and Alexander in it, so it's automatically awesome. I could probably write you up a full review, if you wanted. |

I got to get that! Nippon Ichi have a great sense of humor ("Get your sexy bodies away from me!" )Eh moving back on topic regarding the FF series. I dont think it's the greatest RPG series made for the simple fact that I havent played every single RPG ever made. And Im not jumping to conclusions :p...especially with TST and Xanter prowling around. I enjoy playing the games ..well X-2 excluded...I dont think anyone liked that. Well except from those severley deprived of ever looking at a woman I always found FF9 a bit difficult to get into, I always thought it as desperate attempt to combine FF7 and 8 together. But after a while I found it okayish but still not my favourite of them. Now I shall pause to gather my thoughts and opinions (wherever they've buggered off to...) |

Well, I wasn't really looking forward to FFXI being on the 360 anyways. Didn't even know about it really. I don't yet have a site that contains the new PS3 Tech Demo of FF7 but if someone else does please post it. Now we all know that the remaking of FF7 is probably not going to happen and this trailer is just a huge teaser. But it shows that its possible and its pretty to look at. So if anyone has it, share the wealth, I've only seen it on TV. PS: TST could you make a thread for the game you speak of, I'm interested and want to learn more. |

Rumour has it that if Advent Children does well, which I believe it will, they will consider remaking FF7 for the ps3. Who knows maybe wishful thinking, I personally believe that you should leave gaming legends where they are. . . . except old Nintendo games. Those can be released on classic compilation series. The remake won't make the story better and will still upset most people...so I really see no need in it. Eye candy is in AC no need for the game to me remade. |

Think about this: A while back, square made this massive trailer for a game, just to show off how powerful the tech was. It was a remake thingy like the FF7 Teaser, but they swore they wouldn't remake it. They did., Also, making that teaser took a massive amount of work, why do all that if you're gonna throw the char models, and texture mapping? Please, if I don't hear solid new from square about aremake in prodcution by the end of 07, i'll eat my copy of FF7. Quote me. |

You've just been quoted. I agree with you both somewhat. I don't think it NEEDS to be remade, I think its fine where it is. But, if anything, remaking it could take away the argument that FF7's graphics sucked. Remaking it could also give them a bit of time to fix the story that I've heard was "lost in trnaslation". I think they MIGHT remake it, like BF said, but they could just be teasing us. I'd agree with you on the fact that it was really hard to make, the character models and all, if not for the fact that they already had the character models they used in storage from Advent Children. You only really see Aeris and Cloud and they both look identical to their Advent Children character models. |
