I know many of you dislike Final Fantasy VII and all, but if you're at least familiar with the game, I think this is worth a view. I searched for music and this popped up, and I was in awe. Anybody who's played the game knows that this is damn near impossible. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps5Z3v7Kj_k |

Somewhat impressive. The touph ring provides with extreme defence, elixers for the healing, regen for the healing during long attacks, and 4x attack for normal damage. The only thing about this strategy which I would call very inventive, is to go for tranquil state and not hyper state. People always pick hyper because it allows for faster limit breaks, but they also forget it means they miss more, dodge less, do less damage, and take more damage. So tranquil is, strategically, a masterfull move. Lets see Mastered CURE Ultima I forgot the one with Break/flare etc's name. double blow materia 6x counter FullCure Deathblow materia W-magic materia. HP-plus materia. The only thing I would have done different is instead of fullcure/[elemental materia] for the extra mp, and switch it to speed materia x2. But thats just because I like fast chars. Also....that guy was very lucky there was no Aire-Taire Storm, which does 1111dmg per materia equipped. All in all, not to shabby. Its always fun to see the "SUPER OGM POWERFULLZ" enemies being humiliated like that. |

No doubt. I'm sure the guy would be a professional gamer making money off competitions if he played something multiplayer. But you have to hand it to him/her. |

Well remember that ability to sit and think for hours/days/years of the best way to equip materia doesn't equate to any kind of skill in other games. I used to think that myself, actually. "I've spent so much time playing games at home, I must be great at arcade games by now! I'll go in here and show these guys a thing or two!" Then I got my ass trashed. "Skill"(haha) at beating FF7 doesn't mean he has the stuff to ever make it as a competitive gamer. |

Maybe not, but gaming is gaming. If you're good at games, you're good at games, period. Maybe, like you, he's better with certain aspects of gaming than others, but you don't usually see people with selective skills. Sure, it's possible, but I don't know of any people who can play through an RPG and smack the living hell out of the game but not do the very same in a fighting game or a first person shooter. With that in mind, consider that this guy beat what is widely considered the most difficult boss in the Final Fantasy series with a character often thought of as weak, useless, and disadvantageous. Sure, he could have spent days preparing for the fight, but given the fact that he succeeded in the end is proof enough that he is unrealistically good at gaming. What's to say that the creativity and pure mastery this guy put into Final Fantasy VII wouldn't carry over to other games? |

I feel that the guy was just doing it because he knew he could. He was counting damage i think, or was just really lucky to finish with Final Heaven. It think he's an expert gamer and has probably owned the entire Suikoden series in similar ways. You don't record an entire fight just because you think you might win. He knew he was going to win, and had probably done it before. It's definitely my opinion that he has no life, and is a great gamer and I'm sure he doesn't only play FF7, just thought that would be a fun thing to film and show off to the YouTube crowd. |

RPG's are about hitting buttons to select commands in menus. Fighting games are about impeccable timing, and reliable execution of complex series' of moves. Anyone can equip materia in such a way that you counter attack 6 times in a row for 9999 damage, that takes a minor level of thinking, not active "skill". It's a whole nothing thing to flawlessly perform Genei-jin combo links or accurately play an Eddie corner trap rape. |

I don't know what those last two things are. But if you're referring to the guy with dreadlocks who breakdances while he fights (I think he's from Tekken), that guy ALWAYS wins. No matter who is using him, or fighting him. Nobody can beat Eddie. |

Dane Cook agrees. Anyway, I'm good at every kind of game I play. Not the best, there's always someone better. But I am good at pretty much everything I play, I even got decent at Guitar Hero. I rock at shooters, I can win in fighters, and everybody can play RPGs which is why they're the most popular. Now my cousin Kyle is the same way, except he is genuinely GOOD at every game he attempts. He might even be able to beat you at fighting games Trippy, though he usually needs about a week of practice to get to good. What I want to investigate, is how the fuck (pardon my language but this angers me) tiny children around 8-12 are getting so good at video games! Especially shooters! A number of the best players on Halo and such are young children. I know I wasn't that good at games at their age, maybe it's a new generation raised from birth with games or whatever, but I mean I should not get beaten by a kid whose balls haven't dropped! |

I've seen that Dane Cook set, and that's not what he said at all. Eddy Gordo is actually fairly-low tier, and is exceptionally hard to play because you need to learn 100's of different move combinations. Anyway, the Eddie I'm talking about is from Guilty Gear. I'll see if I can dig up some appropriate videos for you. Slappy: No. This guy cannot beat me at Guilty Gear. There's no such thing as "Natural" skill at fighting games. It's all about practice and learning what to do in given situations. You have to watch people better than you play, and play against them. You HAVE to play. I can hook you up with some peeps who can tell you a countless number of stories about no-names who show up to local high-level tournies thinking they're going to "clean up" because they can beat the comp at home. As a general rule, these guys get perfected and knocked out of the bracket in the first round. |

FUCK EDDIE GORDO. I hate that bastard. As for them fighting games, I'm decent with Ky-Kiske and I've managed to beat my boss with Lee in Tekken a few times. Mother fucking sumo wrestler and his 3 shot kill combo. I'm learning Trippy! I'm learning. Doesn't help that the theater just got Street Fighter Collection in. Cody = Broken. |

TST, to play games such as FF7 like that, you still require some strategic insight. Now I won't say using tifa instead of other chars is such a great thing (at lv99, stats hardly differ...and tifa has 7 limitbreak hits as well anyways). It still requires some form of skill, even though its the kind you just look down on.
I hate Zangief. In ever SF game. I can beat Shin Akuma, Shin Bison, Evil Ryu, Ultimate Rugal (capcom vs snk2), everyone. Except him. He's the only fucker who can still manage to kick my ass if I'm not paying enough attention. I miss my SFA3 game :(.... |

No. It is not "skill". That battle was mostly automated. Anyone can plop down a series of materia to make themselves invincible. I don't care if he did it with Tifa. I wouldn't care if he had done it with Cait Sith. I don't care that he did the fight solo. Because in the end, all he was required to do was equip his shit a certain way and pretty much let the battle run itself. Yes, he figured out a simple series of materia that would allow him to defeat Emerald WEAPON with only one character. This does not mean he can perform every Genei-Jin combination with 100% accuracy on every character in any situation. Winning at RPG's requires a little bit of thought and patience. Competetive games require PRACTICE. You have to play THAT GAME for years and years before you're good at it. |

Even if RPGs did take skill Trippy, you've already made up your mind and there's no changing it. Anyway, I'm going to step out of this discussion, I dislike fighting games so there's nothing I can say on the subject really. I will say I could smoke you in most any shooter though Trippy unless you've mastered both those and fighting games... |

If RPG's did take skill, I would admit it. I mean, if the guy had defeated the secret boss of Tales of Eternia with only Chat, then I would give him props for it. If he defeated Sword Dancer III with Tear without getting hit once, I'd give him some fucking props. He set up Materia and basically auto-battled a boss who is not that hard by RPG standards anymore. Not skill. |

If you say so. But: Skill, n. - the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well. He played the game well by using his knowledge, and he practiced I'm sure, and he succeeded. According to the dictionary he used skill to defeat Emerald Weapon with only Tifa. But ya know, that's only the dictionary's definition. |

And the whole point of this discussion is that he could apply the same exact "Skill" he used to beat Emerald Weapon towards playing Fighting games or shooters. Which he CANNOT. Because they are not even close to being the same. |
