Moutains, hills, valllies. He crossed them several days. In wait of someone sign of life. The Earth Dragon stayed in its place. Among this land that it had mystical creatures, a far cry from the forests he came. Especially the Earth Dragon for he was mysticism itself. And the beast master did not dare to tame it for it was a creature far wiser and seeing than himself. But the earth dragon was surrounded by many wild beasts. And that was his only real company. And so it happened that he heard of a legend sitting in earthen land. The evanescent feeling he got looking at the dragon. That it had taken hills to get to him, saving the thieves and killing the wind master. But the Earth Dragon wanted to shed light on many things. His heavy body never moved. But you could tell he had a kindred spirit. The Earth Dragon replied: “the nations of the skies power has decreased with one master deceased. They wanted power, but the power I carry is wisdom. But many have entered and perished here after that huge fall. I knew that fully well that a tamer of beasts could make it here, and you are the first one to truly see me in many centuries.” The beast master knew fully well that was a compliment, he stayed silent like one of those people you just met on your way after a long trip. He talked with him earnestly about many things: Then the Earth Dragon talked about the Eastern Sky. “Let me tell you about the Eastern Sky,” said the Earth Dragon. “To tell you the truth no one has come near me, or do they even know where Eastern Sky is. Just that some thieves travel here and there in death valley. And one of the many thieves’ aspirations is to reach the Eastern Sky. That is where the legendary Gold Sky Crane feathers are so ornamental they give a golden aura. That the huge buildings in the sky are carried by the weight of clouds. The cave of the Cave Thieves are full of relics and myths about the Eastern Sky, they wanted to access its riches high up.” “And I know that the Cave Thieves are probably just murderers. Thieves are thieves. Whoever Master of the Wind was, he left eternally. Just from seeing him I knew he was no mere high beings. Just someone with power to push people out of his way. And the way he took out those animals...I got rid of him or so the thieves might have done more.” “Wolfis Guild, havn’t you thought about your future have you well? One of the few beast tamers around. Aren’t you even curious about the place they call sky? There are many secrets. I know right now your town is well and now accepts beast masters.” “I’ll never want to visit the sky,” said Wolfis. “I see no reason to go. Yet I am someone that wants to get to places. Getting to any other town will be easier. But I am wondering if I should venture outside of town. Windy town is leaderless now. Though the thieves one way or another will want to get to that place for the riches there. If what you say is true Earth Dragon. All I care is finding a way out of Death Valley.” “That’s easy enough, me being one of few the spiritual beings on earth, you’ll find your way back but not without challenge. The elite forest beats guardians of the entrance of that place for it is also an entrance as well as an exit. It is located further down the hill. And if the animal guardians detect any threat they will destroy you. But it will lead you out of Death Valley.” “Tell me more. I want to know about what lies beyond, I never even went that far from town I know. Even the sky sounds intriguing but I don’t want to go there.” “Such a simple question and yet so many answers. All I can tell you than none of the places you will go are undesirable or for the unwise or make you desire to be there. And now that you must go since the weather will soon change. The sandstorm trek of Death Valley is right ahead. Go through it head-strong mind.” *** There were many remnants from warriors at the guardian’s entrance. Two large hills stood with many skulls. The beasts here were perhaps one of many stronger ones he had seen. And the Beast Master had seen them all. These were tough enough to give giants a very hard time. One of the beasts was very spiky itself. It had spikes all over its body. The other was a furry animal that looked like a mixture of a lion and a raptor. They both towered 20 feet high with the might of a small army. And probably with some mysticism. Maybe the strongest of the strong could be a match. If there was a reason many never made to the Earth Dragon they were one of the many reasons. The entrance was littered with skeleton remains, rusty shields, and in some cases gemmed weapons. You could detect the magic emitting from gemmed items and the less worthy souls than him that could not get by since the ancient beasts kept special watch of the Earth Dragon day and night. It was a small graveyard but those with avarice came and disappeared. Came and went it wasn’t enough for them. That wasn’t the word. Why did two beasts never leave their posts day throughout the day but it was obvious. The two creatures looked at him wildly, interestingly. But they did not think he looked human at all. He looked more like a harmless animal. A red-tanned man with yellow eyes. And he could probably tame one but he didn’t know or want to, he would find some transport when he got outside. His golden flute would be of no use here. But he made his way out of an entrance that had descended rapidly. *** He called on his whistle. It was in a language the behemoths guardians far back couldn’t hear. And he carried with him one mirror, and a sword. He figured he’d get two things. For some reason these got his attention and he had packed them. He thought these would make for good trade items. But surely enough the sand storm was coming. The fury of the wind blew fiercely onward. It blew in his face and the whistle blew faintly as the fury came again. Pebbles of sand sounded of and blew. If anything animals were taking cover of the sand storm that averted Death Valley. He wasn’t even far off, that is what the Earth Dragon said to a place, or a town. And now the animal the beast master called for this time? It was a large desert animal. They called it desert homunculus horses. It allowed him to travel fast. The place he was heading he did not know but when he reached it he knew it might have been sulkenpoint. *** The city’s name was Sulkenpoint. It had fortified mesas, even amidst ruined parapets, it had a shine of day. But sulkenpoint being a land that as low as it was got even got lower and lower for its name merited it. There were many shops out the lowly land, and it was very fertile land. Even Golden Daisies grew here in the low land covered by river waters. And the river lightly touched the carapace of mesas, the lowest ones. The very tall hills sometimes reached as far as the highest snow peaks. And even some were big enough for the inhabitants to live there. One of these men who made a lone living was Sam. Sometimes you could see his shadow but it was from way up as if from a watch tower. Only if somehow you were to climb down his own private ladder. Or see his speckled telescope. He was sometimes called the paranoid fool. But the town put up with him well enough. Every time of day he kept the watch out. “A red skinned man is coming, I don’t like Beast masters,” he said hearing through one of his instruments. A very long instrument shaped and built to send waves of sound on long distances. It traveled its way there. He could see the golden desert homunculus. Of course the town got a good look at him. But the person they knew only well enough lived and made his life harder by living where no one lived. “Haven’t had many beast masters come around this place,” ignore that man, he is called paranoid Sam. All the beast masters here have are very welcomed. “Ignore him I welcome you here.” “But you of all people trust everyone,” shouted Sam. And this time he got a volley of rocks. He was having one of have one of his fits again. “We left you in the watch tower to watch not get paranoid,” said the townsmen. “And who may I be,” he extended his hand to Wolfis Guild. I am Horace Skellingkton.” “I’ll just call you Horace,” Wolfis joked. “What business you want here?” I see you got a package there. “Care to go to the town Market. Ignore Sam, he’ll get a couple of rocks if he starts again.” And when he got there the town Market place was bustling with movement. There was hustle and bustle. In one shop there were two many artifacts. “Pick the right shop.” And it was crowded, the people of sulkenpoint seemed to have a very private life for there were a lot of in door shops. “But also they were very front forward with many things.” That is what Mr. Skellingkton said. And Wolfis felt privileged, he could offer his services to tame animals. And he could also participate in the Market place. The two items he carried with him, the sword and the mirror were stocked in the scabbard and in his pocket. Now said Mr. Skellingkton. “Where do you want to go? I hear many good dealings come out of places but what is it that you want to do. Tame beasts? Or do you want to sell something? The shop even has variety and a whole assortments of items. There is a magic blacksmith and even some herb shops. There are scroll relic shops as well, the ones they don’t donate to the huge Library funded by the government of Sulkenpoint. All the best places in town are near Sulkenpoint square. “Do you want something out of me guiding you,” said Wolfis. “No just doing a front to front job favor, it is on me. That is how we folks are.”. And Wolfis, showed him the items. The sword and scabbard along with the mirror. The mirror had pure gold, and the scabbard was even gemmed, down to the steel finish. But Skellingkton, tried not to show interest. Immediately he asked if it was inheritance. But Wolfis said it was a parting gift from a very great friend who bequeathed it to him. Skellingkton nodded. “I see very nice.” Then Skellingkton wanted to know more. But they went to a shop one of the more private ones. It was called Heathen Emporium. And here he displayed the items. First the sword and scabbard, then the golden mirror. “Very nice, the scabbard seems to very old. And has an ancient arrangement of gems, that has a very distinct pattern. As for the mirror it holds magic. They both belong to a very old religion that the only the royalty practice. But it is a very dark religion.” “I ride with a purpose,” said Wolfis, “to get back to town and I want these items to give me what I need to get back home.” And he added to himself nothing more to do with the thieves or visit that sky nation. “And that can be arranged very easily,” said Mr. Skellingkton, sell them to me. I’ve been looking for over worldly items for too long. And these belong to an old religion I will not speak of here. One of them is necromancy the other is a royalty religion.” |
