Fabula Nova Crystallis. That's what they're calling the FFXIII mini-series. I've attached a picture from the FF Versus XIII game, but if you want more information, check this out: http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/

For the record, the series includes three games:

Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (Working Title)
Final Fantasy Agito XIII (Mobile Game)

As far as my understanding goes, FFXIII is the original game, whereas FF Versus XIII is almost like a prequel, yet it has it's own storyline not dependent on FFXIII and is set well before the storyline of FFXIII. Almost nothing is known about FF Agito XIII, though it is said that it has little to nothing to do with the storylines of the other two games, but it is still set in the same world.

So what do you think? How do you feel about a battle system that is supposed to be damn close to real time? What do you think of their being three games - and one of them on a call phone, at that? Which one do you want to play first?

I'll hold my comments... but I just can't help but say that FF Versus XIII looks quite intriguing. I wonder, though, if he IS the main character... just how will his skills be handled?

Dragon: I bet Xantar is like the ultimate designated driver
Dragon: drops off all his drunk buddies at each other's ex-girlfriends' houses

Mystic Gohan: xantar has had his lasting effects on our easily influenced minds
Mystic Gohan: hes probably at home cackling as we speak

Me: Xantar never really talks unless you talk to him first.
Marci: And that will hold until he makes the first move. I've learned. Don't ever go into a Xantar conversation blind.

So... it's been pushed back to an undetermined date. How disappointing.

As someone who's been waiting for this for a long time, I'm seriously disappointed that there isn't a set release, and that it's been pushed back so far. however, the game looks amazing. The graphics are the best I've seen in game thus far. what do you guys think?

Graphics of a series will always get better as new installments are made, so the fact that FFXIII looks great is no surprise since Square-Enix always uses graphics engines to the best of their abilities. The greatest loss of the game being pushed back though, is the delay of us being able to enjoy another story produced from those madmen at Square-Enix. The Final Fantasy series, in my opinion, is made great not only by their excellent mechanics, but by their compelling stories. And although many people may say they are looking forward to playing the next FF game for whatever their own reasons are, what brings us back to play FF is the great storylines, which we are forced to now wait for longer because of this delay

Urgh, yet another of S-E's ''Hey lets make this game into a GROUP of games, like how we raped FFVII!'' *Insert doller signs here*

I mean theres what, 3? 4? Games encompasing the XIII series? All are across various platforms, meaning poor 360 owners like me wont be able to play Versus XIII or Agito XIII. Can you say 'Milking the cash cow?'

Dont get me wrong, the gamess look fantastic and If theres any way to go forward graphics wise, S-E are heading down that lane on a juiced up Shiva motorbike.

But personally, Im not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for any new news on this series (like I did oh so much for pretty much all the other games) I'll probably get FFXIII when it comes out for the 360 but methinks this will be the last Final Fantasy game I'll buy.

I eat babies. Also, read my fanfics.

So...do you have any interest in necrophilia?

Don't worry about it being too long - we like long here.

I think the difference here is that each game is a separate story with different characters. They could probably release each of them as standalone games.

Well, Square didn't want to go multi-platform, and they've made it pretty clear that they aren't putting as much effort into the X-Box 360 version.

And yes, they can be played as separate games - Versus is supposedly a prequel taking place well before FFXIII. I'm not sure about Agito.

...Now to get a PS3...

If they keep up the kind of quality FFXIII looks to be, I think I'll remain a fan for quite some time.

Have you seen the DVD trailers for the game?
