Questions, comments, reviews, thoughts, go at it. And get Lish in here. I'll throw my opinion in later. |

This book was less a book and more an obituary. Also, in regards to snape, I am not surprised. At all. About any of it. More later. |

THIS is my side, THIS is the demiltarized zone, and THAT is your side. "Good and Evil" is too complicated. I prefer, "Us and Them". ![]() Xantarcube: *Throws Makokam down on the bed* Dalmar: Dalmar runs from no man! ... I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series and I felt that it was a great ending. I must say though that I was never a big fan of Harry for some reason. Oddly, I just didn't like him as a character. Sometimes I did, but most of the last book he annoyed me. Also, I started the book knowing that lots of my favorite characters might die, and I was a bit torn up by some of them. Though I will say I enjoyed the action and think it will make a very entertaining movie. I'll say more when you guys bring up specific things to talk about. It was a huge book. And shouldn't we mark this as like a huge spoiler thread? Though I figure nobody is dumb enough to open something with this title and expect it not to have lots of spoilers. |
![]() Xantar: And for your information, I didn't call on any minions. They got into this on their own, and they seem to be having a blast. Marci: Screw you too, I'm not your minion. Xantar: Also, Makokam is not my minion. Just thought I'd point that out.

It's a shame Lupin and Tonks died, I really liked them. And Fred too. But according to Rowling, it was either Mr Weasly in the first book, or other chars in later books. Well... no offense to mr weasly but I prefer Lupin over him anyday. other than that, I liked the book a lot, though I agree that snape didn't come as a surprise. The only thing that surprised me was harry being the final horcrux... I thought it was too easy to assume that he was and I always thought voldemort's Wand would be the final piece. I'd say if he wanted to make horcruxes out of important items...his wand would be the most important one right? Plus like with Nagini, he always kept it by his side and never gave it away (malfoyd scene). |

*Copies and pastes LJ entry* I thought that perhaps when I finished book 7, I would want to comment on everything, but it seems, much beyond anything I'd ever thought possible, my thoughts are entirely with... Severus Snape. Many of you may know of my long time proclaimed hatred of Severus Snape and anything that had to do with him. You may remember me proclaiming that 'even if he was working under Dumbledore's orders, I hate him and I want him to die.' Oh how that couldn't be further from the truth now. I truly believe that this was the one and only way that he could have been redeemed in my eyes. His pain for his unrequited love ripped through me, and his inner struggle with his hatred for James being passed on to son, merely because it was so painful to know what he never had was just too real to me. He loved her, he REALLY loved her, so much so that he risked everything to save her - and when he couldn't, he continued to risk everything to protect her memory and her only legacy left in the world. Harry. I can only imagine what he felt, looking into the same eyes of the one he had loved for so long, taking his last breath. With all the hatred I have had for him; for all the harm I wished upon him... in that moment, they were gone. And to me, it just personified the WHOLE POINT of the story for me, like a personal revelation, having my hate for him purified by love. After all, wasn't that what Harry stood for? The absolute power of love? It crushed me - more than the deaths, more than the dashed glimmers of hope. It crushed me like I never ever could have imagined. I would like to quote some of my very favorite parts of this, just because the impact of the words still rings through me. "Her son lives. He has her eyes. Precisely her eyes. You remember the shape and color of Lily Evan's eyes, I am sure?" "DON'T!" bellowed Snape. "Gone... dead..." "Is this remorse, Severus?" "I wish... I wish I were dead..." "Don't be so shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?" "Lately, only those whom I could not save," said Snape. He stood up. "You have used me." "Meaning?" "I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter's son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for the slaughter-" "But this is touching, Severus," said Dumbledore seriously. "Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?" "For him?" shouted Snape. "Expecto Patronum!" From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: she landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. "After all this time?" "Always," said Snape. ^ That one pushed tears out of me. Oh... the pain... Also completely noteworthy was his anger over Phineas using the word mudblood. That... that just really sent it home. How he felt, how it changed him... love was EVERYTHING to Severus Snape, and in my eagerness to hate him, I'd missed it. "Albus Severus," Harry said quietly, so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be waving to Rose, who was now on the train, "you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew." *Angsts* So, in the end, I've had a complete change of heart. Severus has gone from my most hated character to nearly my most loved. And that, my friends, is what affected me most about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. |

After a long time of having read it. I can now say it is the best book. The maturity it has really makes it such. The experiences of growing up and experiencing things for the first time. The imagination was also good but so was the case in all the other books. |

Well I hated it. I hated the deaths (Mad-eye!), Snape's cliche death and the ending. It seemed as if someone else wrote that bit. Also, Tom did not know that Harry was a Horcrux... His wand did it when he attacked Harry as a baby. Dumbledore assumed Harry was but told no one. And omg, Rowling admitted Dumbledore was gay. <3 |
