Alright so I got to thinking and I'm pretty sure just about everyone here enjoys anime, at least once in a while, but I couldn't recall ever seeing a thread for it, aside from one or two talking about just one specific show. That doesn't appeal to a broad audience, so I'm making this to talk about any anime that you really like or are currently watching.

So to generate conversation, start by posting your favorite all-time show/movie and then also any your are watching currently, or have found a recent interest in.

Hopefully this will generate some discussion about the shows and also enlighten people to anime they could be watching or might be interested in. I also have a good website for downloading anime but I won't post it yet because I'm not sure that would be exactly acceptable. If Lish gives me a go ahead then I can post the link.

My favorite anime: Berserk (I could never keep up fully with the manga but I read a lot of it.)

Current anime: None really, but the last animes I watched were Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians and this interesting little anime called Wind (I thinkt here is more to the title but I can't recall what it is off the top of my head.)

Xantar: And for your information, I didn't call on any minions. They got into this on their own, and they seem to be having a blast.

Marci: Screw you too, I'm not your minion.

Xantar: Also, Makokam is not my minion. Just thought I'd point that out.

Best anime of all time and if you disagree you are WRONG: Outlaw Star.

I rarely watch anime anymore, but I'm currently recording Hellgirl, Gunslinger Girl, and Witchblade off of IFC. I'll watch it...eventually. Probably.

That was a fantastic anime. Gene was one of my favorite characters of all time. I haven't seen it in years though and I only saw the censored version on Cartoon Network. Maybe I'll download it soon.

My personal favorite would be Elfen Lied. The blood! The gore! The red hair! It was awesome.

I also enjoyed Wolf's rain, Witch Hunter Robin, Witchblade, Full Metal Alchemist, Blue Seed, Fooly Cooly, Bleach, Sailor Moon, Rurouni Kenshin, Big O, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop and that's all I remember at the moment.

Movies? Grave of the fireflies (I cried), Spirited away, Howl's moving castle, princess Manoke (sp?) and Nassica of the wind (sp?).

Only thing I'm watching right now is Ghost in the Shell: SAC.

That movie blew my brain wide open.

I've enjoyed pretty much every anime Midnight named at least a little. I never kept up with Bleach. I watched the beginning and really liked it, then I saw my cousins watching it after it had gone on for a while and shit was just crazy. Then I realized there were hundreds of episodes like Naruto and I said, "Fuck that shit." I dislike Naruto a lot. I at least like Bleach, but I don't like Naruto much at all.

I prefer my animes to end in around 30 to 60 episodes. No need to reach 200 episodes. The only exception would be Ranma 1/2 I liked most of that series, though I haven't seen it all. Very funny stuff to me.

Here's one that isn't mentioned a lot: Case Closed. It's not a very serious anime, but I watched it a few years back, along with Hikaider (or maybe Kikaider?) and I liked them both. They were playing on Adult Swim and I'd stay up every night to watch them.

Oh, and Wolf's Rain is probably my second favorite series of all time. I love wolves and it was really well done. The last couple episodes actually gave me chills.

The only Anime I watch right now is... oh yeah, I'm not really watching any animes at the moment.
I read Naruto comics online weekly though. I did read Death Note fairly faithfully but then I lost cash flow and haven't been able to continue to buy it.

And so what if Naruto is long? If it's good, I don't care how long it is. I'm enjoying it and I'm actually getting kind of worried that it IS going to end soon.

What I really want is to be able to buy Ultimate Spider-Man again... or at least have somebody give it the anime treatment, meaning that they animate the comics, not base a series on them, actually turn the comics in to an animated series.

I just could never get behind Naruto. Good idea for a show, but the lead character is a weenie. And from there I couldn't support it. My cousins love it, but I just make fun of it relentlessly. It's nothing personal.

I don't read manga though really. The only one I read a lot was Berserk, and I read some of the Ikki Tousen mangas.

I did watch Death Note, and it's definitely one of my top five favorite animes. Japanese acting of course, I can't stand the voices in the English version. But me and my cousin started watching Death Note during the afternoon and we finished it the next morning without stopping. Great show.

I used to think of myself as more of an anime enthusiast but I haven't followed anything lately. This goes double for manga's and any t.v series. Actually truth be told I have probably forgotten more than I remember.

Anyways some of my all time favorites are;

Beserk
Vampire Hunter D
Akira
Fatal Fury
Demon City Shinguku

All time favourite anime is the Read Or Die OVA, which just blows me away everytime I watch it. I love the action, the music, the Charecters. All of it, fantastic work. I havent had a chance to watch the ROD:TV series but the ROD manga are just as good as the OVA. It's probably one of the very few animes Ive watched with decent English dubbing too.

I also love xxxHOLiC, Im addicted to the manga and it's beautiful artwork and humor. I prefer the xxxHOLiC: Midsummers Night Dream movie to the xxxHOLiC anime though (especially the soundtrack) Whats unfortunte about xxxHOLiC is that it gets overshadowed by Tsubasa too much (the two books are two sides of the same story) and as I never really got into Cardcaptor Sakura or any of the Sailor Moon stuff, Tsubsasa doesnt really appeal to me (much)

I always make a point to poke fun at Naruto. Ive never watched it but the idea of an orange ninja I just thought laughable and you have to have a certain enmity for an anime whose fans clog up the Forbidden Planet comic asile with constant "Look! OMG A POSEABLE SASUKE DOLL! LOL MUST HAVE!" *gets punched in the face* "HEY! GET OUT OF THE WAY!"

.... :guns:

So...do you have any interest in necrophilia?

That whole orange ninja thing baffled me as well. But I guess it's fitting because he's one of the worst students. I mean not only does he wear bright orange, but he has bright blonde hair. He'd need a makeover just to go on a mission.

Here's an anime I'd never heard of until I stumbled across it one day: 12 Kingdoms. It's really rather good, but I didn't finish it because they stopped producing the anime since the novels weren't finished. I think it's done now so I may try to pick it back up.

I never understood what was so great about Akira. All I got from watching it was a mild case of indigestion.

-resists urge to exlpain why naruto wears orange-

I did watch the Tales of Symphonia animation last week though. it was cool, bit it was kind of strange since it skipped over stuff so much...

One I never got to finish was Noir. I really liked what I did see though.

I'm currently watching Bleach. I used to watch Naruto but I got tired of all the filler.

I've seen to many animes to list so I'll just put up some of my favorites.

Akira
X 1999
Darker Than Black
Samurai Shamploo
Cowboy Bebop
Triggun
Gundum Seed

So I'm not the only one then. I watched about 3/4 of it before I was like: "This is ridiculous. Nothing is actually happening." We can argue all day about that crazy ass ending, but it makes no sense. I mean, at least with most films you can watch it again and the information you glean on a second viewing brings it all together. I'm thinking of the 6th sense. First time around I was confused, half hour into the second watching it all made sense. And Ghost in the Shell made sense to me after the first viewing but I can see where it gets confusing.

Akira, however, just had a badass fucking motorcycle.

Doesn't Naruto's appearance have something to do with the nine-tail fox in him?

Akira was drawn nicely yet I forgot what the point of it was other then the blood? I think Akira was left over pieces of some boy who was experimented on like the three green kids (The experiments were suppose to help the kids surpress their powers). Yet he died or had a different reaction to it? Somehow he formed a connection with that bikerdude's friend through telepathy. After that, they just felt pain and their powers got out of control. It took the friendship the three green kids to control Akira. It's been a while since I've seen this movie so I might be off?

Steamboy was pretty good too! And Kiki's delivery service, Metroapocalypse (?).

Metalocalypse :)

I am not sure that show constitutes as anime, but I am a big fan of it.

As far as Akira the movie is concerned they left a lot of the content from the manga's out in the movie. Therefore the movie (especially its ending) leaves more questions that answers.

The nine-tail fox has nothing to do with his orange jumpsuit. He's just a moron haha.

And on the topic of ninjas being unrealistic. The ninjas from Basilisk are obviously very unrealistic in the sense of their powers, but they actually act and look like real ninjas for the most part. Really great show in my opinion.
