Super Bowl; Anybody watching?

Is anybody going to watch it?

I...probably won't be. Unless I think there will be some good commercials. Maybe I'll just catch the beginning to get an idea of what's going on.

Really, I'm just starting this thread in order to try to provoke a fight between Dragon (who is from Arizona) and Makokam (who is from Pittsburgh). If I had to pick a side, I would say the Cardinals because the Steelers defeated the Ravens (I'm from Maryland).

Alternatively, does anybody have favorite food they like to eat on Super Bowl Sunday? I personally am a big fan of my family's spring roll recipe. That stuff disappears at parties.

I'm routing for Steelers because they defeated Ravens who defeated my team the Titans. I used to go for Rams but they haven't done anything in the longest time and all of my favorite players have left them by now. Also, my boss is a big Steelers fan so I may as well have something to be excited about with him when the Steelers win.

I'll likely watch it. I've become more interested in football lately and it should be a good game. And then there are always the commercials. Plus I hear Rihanna might be performing and she is always nice to watch in my opinion.

As far as food goes, we don't have big celebrations for the game around here so no special foods. I'll likely be eating some bagel bites or something while I watch. I loves me some bagel bites.

I'm not a big fan of football. I've only watched last years and that was barely. I watched it since the Giants were there.

Boo on Rihanna, she kinda bores me. I've heard Jennifer Hudson will be making her first public appearance since the murders of her family members. I'd watch that bit.

I've never understood why you Americans call it football. You dont kick it! It is madness!

Although to be fair, your American handball is much more amusing and fun to watch than our European football. That and of course cheerleaders doing cartwheels and stuff.

I've never watched the Super Bowl, mainly as It doesnt really air over here (plus I dont enjoy sports of any kind really) but I have to say I enjoy some of the commercials that make it online. I still really want that magic fridge.

Rihanna? Bleh. I don't mind her music, but she is terrible performing live. I think she must be one of those artists whose voice is produced within an inch of its life in recording because I've seen some of her concerts on YouTube and I swear she actually went a full step off key at some points.

Well, ask the people who introduced the spot to America. =p

I have to agree with Xantar. Rihanna can't sing, she has a few great songs but her voice is whack. The reason why she is so "popular" is because of her appearance. People find her smexie.

I find her smexie... That's why I said she's nice to watch. Plus I'm a sucker for accents and whenever she speaks I melt a little bit in my pants. I also have a thing for brown girls, tall or short haha.

I don't watch her perform very often but she is a performer who moves around a lot and that does tend to make people's voices act up. Anyhow, I like to look at her and her CDs are on my iTunes, I do like them a bit.

Fun fact: Chris Brown lives around my city and so whenever the two of them are on break for tour like during the holidays they are spotted all over my town. I've had about four chances to meet them but I'm always busy.

I am going to have a hard time rooting for the Steelers in this one. Either way the big game for me was the AFC championship, and not really the super bowl.

Oh and my friend brought up a good point, he would just like to see the winner be from the east coast rather than from the west. So I guess that's just another reason to cheer for the Steelers.

I'm going for the Steelers, they're a good team and I've always been a fan. I'm interested in the Cardinals showing as well. This is their first Superbowl and some have called them a Team of Destiny and they want it more. However, the Steelers are looking to break an NFL record and if they suceed they'll be the first team to win six champioships. It should be an interesting game.

Eddie, we call it Football because each game starts with The Kick-off. They also punt the ball on a fourth down or atempt a Feild Goal as well as kick the ball for the extra point after a Touch Down. So they do kick the ball it's just not the main meathod of moving it.

As for Superbowl food; it's been a tradition in my family too have homemade Delux Nachos. (Nachos with what ever you want on them) It starts with the basics of refried beans, seasoned ground beef and melted cheese. The rest of the ingrediants are up to you.

I am definitely not a fan of football (baseball ftw), and even though I'm from Arizona, I won't really be watching. I'll probably have the TV on while I work on my computer, but its not a "Ok sit down and watch the Superbowl" thing for me. Besides, my parents are out at a party so I'm on babysitting duty -_-

Ok, you caught me. I'm actually Xantar. I hacked Dragon's account because he's being an ass.

Dragon: You don't have the respect for me because you are entered the forum into a contest where it is impossible for one to survive unless they are the one survivor. Well so far the game is all right I guess. But the commercials SUCK. Car commercials? Seriously? Just because they were at the Super Bowl doesn't mean they are any more memorable than usual. I guess Star Trek looks neat, but that Year One movie looks awful. And the monkeys playing with motor oil was just stupid. There's no chance I'll remember what brand of motor oil that was. Hopefully the second half will improve.

Well the game is over....I'm disappointed I was really hoping for the Cardinals to pull it off this year. Oh and I'm watching the show from a sports bar. Though the final few minutes were quite amazing. what do you guys think?

I only watched the last five minutes of the game, because I really could care less about football.

I did get to see the Cardinals think they had it in the bag and then watch the Steelers snicker and take it back effortlessly. That was pretty cool.

I was rooting for the Steelers... for no real reason other than I know people in PA. *Shrug*

Nobody mentions Harrison's 100 yard interception-touchdown? Longest touchdown in Super Bowl history? And made by a person on Defense? It was pretty bad ass.

Then of course the end was amazing as well. Plus all of the little squabbles were fun to watch. I didn't pay full attention to the entire game and mostly ignored the commercials. They all seemed really lame. Bruce Springsteen didn't float my boat either.

I was never a big Springsteen listener, but not because I hate him or anything. He just wasn't my thing, and I don't belong to the blue collar class that he supposedly caters to. I have to admit, though, it was funny watching him crash his crotch into a camera.

The 100-yard interception would have been great if I cared about either the team. Since I don't....I'm going to move on.

Xantar's Super Bowl Ad Hails and Fails

Shut up. I couldn't come up with any other rhyming names.

My favorite two commercials of the night were for Monster.com and for NBC's Thursday lineup. The Monster.com one was the one that had an executive sitting pretty in his fancy office with a moose head on the wall behind him. The camera then pans past the wall behind him to reveal an underling sitting in his cubicle office with the rest of the moose standing on his desk and the nether parts right on top of his head.

The NBC one showed a series of testimonials from people who had to have their asses re-attached every Thursday because the comedy lineup would cause them to LMAO. Fun stuff. Plus, everybody here should watch 30 Rock.

Failures? Well, where to start. The monkeys playing with motor oil was still stupid. Also, the ad for Audi was just weird. It featured Jason Statham driving cars in action scenes throughout the decades and ends with him driving a sweet new Audi. The idea, I guess, is the Audi is the latest, newest and best, so the commercial is about progress. The problem: the commercial also prominently displays the logos of BMW and Mercedes while Statham is driving them, and those scenes look sweet.

Also fail: all the 3-D stuff. NBC, don't do that again.

And all the Budweiser ones were pretty bad, too. Why would I care about the history of the Budweiser clydesdale? I would rather watch the "wazzap" guys again.

So what do you guys think?

I enjoyed the game. I watched ...almost all of it. I wasn't able to just sit there and watch. I also lament the lack of at least a pizza last night. Or nachos, or bagel bites. Hell, spring rolls would have been more "super bowl food" than chicken and cream of mushroom soup on rice. -__-
I'm offically going to start squirrling away a few buck here and there so I can go out and get something of the sort whenever there's a big game, or a birthday, or any particular reason for a half assed party.

As for the actual game:

The best part of the 100-yard-interception-run-for-a-record-breaking-touchdown was that not only was it a 100-yard return, but Harrison caught the ball with the back of his hands in the recivers palms.

And, I know the game has not been lost before the last five minutes, or even the last 30 seconds if you're only down by 3-7 points, but I was wasn't really worried about the Steelers losing, because the Cardinals were their own worst enemy last night.

As for the comercials, uh.. yeah... a car comercial...why not?
I'm going to have to say that Palumalus parody/tribute comercial of Joe Greens coke comercial was the highlight of the night.

The ballet dancing football players was... oddly horrifying, and hypnotic at the same time. So that was the worst one.

As for the monkies Xantar can't let go of... I can' t recall the name, but I'll recognise the bottle if I see it. But I won't, because i don't own a car to buy motor oil for.

Anyway, it was a good game. But what I really want to see is a high scoring super bowl. I want to see them both really fighting back and forth. I want a touchdown every other play. I want to see the players pissed off the the other team scored again. Ya know what I mean? I want the whole game to feel like the last five minutes, so I'll actually enjoy watching the whole thing.
