Hey Blue...sorry to hear about your tough whelping. It took me a couple or three litters...along with some twisting and pulling poor dead pups out. I now make sure my bitch is health and worm free to start with and at an ideal weight...not too thin...she can have a little extra but not over weight. I've learned to error on the side of an average size healthy pup at whelping...then, between me and the dam...we can pour the feed to'em. In fact...if my bitch is ideal weight, I don't give her anyextra food. I just watch her weight...mainly her hips bones. I don't necessarily want to see her hip bones. Don't get me wrong...I'm not starving her so she can have small pups...not even saying your pups were too big...just wanted to share an experience. Best of luck with your pups... |
