Here's what you will find in this thread:
mIRC Starter's Guide 1) Download mIRC at http://www.mirc.com/get.html and install it. 2) After installation, when you run mIRC you will be required to fill out some info. You don't need to put your real email and name, but you should put your forum name as your nickname and alternative. 3) You should uncheck the invisible mode. It sould look like this but with your own info: ![]() 4) On the left side, select Servers, then click on the add button and fill out the following: Description: Chatchannel: Random server IRC Server: irc.chatchannel.org Group: Chatchannel Don't add a password and leave the port as it is. You should now have something like this: ![]() Press add one this is done. 5) Now press the Connect To Server button, or click OK and go to File>Connect or just press that little lighting button on the top left. 6) Once you are connected to the server, you are ready to join a channel. To join our relentless channel for for instance, simply type /join #hegemonic into the single line box at the bottom of the status window, and press enter. For more info on mIRC, you can visit the mIRC website, or open mIRC and go to help>content or help>search. Registering your nickname Registering your nickname will make you the only one able to use it. It is a good idea to register your nickname before someone else takes it. First of all, if you want to change nicknames before you register it, type /nick YourNickname. You can also use this command to change your nick ant any other time. Now to register the nickname you are curently using, type /nickserv register YourPassword YourEmail Remember the password you enter, you will be prompted to enter it in the future. When joining the server with the nickname you registered, you will be asked to identify yourself. Type /ns identify password. If you do not identify in 60 seconds your nick will be automatically changed to a guest name. Channels Type /join ChannelName to join a public channel Type /cs invite ChannelName to join a private channel Our public channel: #thesilenthood Some other channels of interest: And if you have any questions PM an Admin. - Props for this guide go to LaLJackel. |
