I'm gonna start this thread to post any updates on the project I'm working on which is a Splatterhouse arcade game. So far I'm only down on written plans and notes about the games hardware and all the arcade guts I have to buy, The cabinet I think I'll just build myself as it's just a big hollowed structure of wood waiting to become a mouse's home. I think if I start a electronic journalization like this, I would stay on the project more and be less likely to give up on it. I'd also like anybody else to go ahead and post whatever you like about the project I'm doing, It will help keep me working on it. :smokin

Hey, good luck with that... For the longest time, I've wanted to build a MAME cabinet, but I have neither the spare cash, nor the woodworking skills to do it.

Spazz, you've got my support on this one. Wish I could help, but my coding skills are... well, I couldn't even get past Pascal in computer science, so I can't do squat. Still, lots of power to you, and here's to your new SH project! ^_^

Spazz, were you the guy that emailed me about building a Splatterhouse cab recently?

I don't think he needs computer skills here, Mike - but did you take woodshop? That would probably be a help. ;)

No no no. I had to go through it with junior high, and I bloody hated it. I honestly thought one of my appendages would be sliced off every day I got near those blasted machines, and the instructor intimidated me as well... indirectly, that is. He never had any beefs with me, but he still gave me the jeeblies.

Rob, lemme make a fact about me known: Unless it's a video game controller, I am extremely clumsy with tools and appliances to the point where it's pitifully laughable. I couldn't even maneuver this ice cream scoop I used today in a favorable manner! I drop stuff frequently, I'm paranoid around dangerous equipment, and I'm rather accident prone. No major accidents have ever thankfully occurred... and I intend to keep that standard.

Allow me to condense what I just said in this phraseology: "Dammit Jim, I'm a writer, not a construction worker!" :lol

Yes, I was the guy that e-mailed you Dire-51, Digit Press hasn't been much help at all but I have found better sites since then.

http://www.happcontrols.com/
http://www.jammaboards.com/

So far here's my plan, I start saving money till the next time I see a Splatterhouse PCB go up for auction on ebay, buy it then I'll have the game (which is the most important part), then instead of just building a cabinet and buying parts, I should just go ahead and buy another jamma game cabinet that's something common and a lot cheaper like maybe Galaga, Pac-man, Mario Bros. or whatever so I can get a good start on parts that I need plus a jamma cabinet. Pull out the other arcade game PCB, replace it with Splattehouse then install the buttons needed to play Splatterhouse and the stereo speakers unless the cabinet already has them. This would be my first arcade game so it probably would be best if I went with this plan.

Did you just check the site or the forum? If it was the forum, that's kind of surprising as usually they're pretty good about stuff like this.

YES!! Check out what I just won on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...40285&rd=1&rd=1

I had to wait till 2 minutes were left on the auction to outbid somebody, but least I now have the most important part for my project.

Well, I got the Splatterhouse PCB package quite quickly since it was flown here from Europe. I don't have a verizon wireless phone or a digital camera to take any pictures of it. I did compare it with the picture of the PCB on West Mansion, and they match. Right now I kinda owe my dad some money because he helped cover the shipping and handling, but I also pulled him in on my project, he's been quite interested in it. Whenever I do complete it or get close to completing this project, I'm gonna try and get a verizon wireless cell phone and take pictures of it to post on here.

What's with Verizon? Do you have some connection with them?

Aren't the Verizon Wireless cell phones the ones with the little digital cameras built in them? I don't have a connection with them, I just thought they were the cell phone company that makes the phones with the digital cameras.

No, well yes, but most if not all of the cell companies have phones with cameras. It's the cell phone manufacturer, not the provider that determines which phones have cameras.

But I get what you're saying now.

I never had a cell phone before and I never had a digital camera either. I know everybody has at least a cell phone nowadays, I just never really saw a particular need for me to have one, I don't have much friends.

Hey, I'm that way too. I also have neither... if anything, I see cell phones as something of a curse in some aspects.

I got my dad a little interested in this project after I described it to him. He liked the 80's arcade days and apparently he had already seen a SH cabinet back in the day way before I saw one, he said he didn't play it but his friend did though. He wasn't into arcade games with limited levels/stages, he only liked games like Pac-man, Galaga, Defender, and Pinball Machines. Another thing about my dad, he collects skulls. He has a big skull collection that he displays around the house everyday, even christmas time. We both were coming up with ideas on how were gonna customize the cabinet itself, make it fit the Splatterhouse theme, and we decided after finishing it that were gonna take a lot of skulls and glue them all over the cabinet and paint the cabinet completely black then paint blood spots and splashes in neon red and neon green so that it will glow with it's gore under a black light.

My dad is somewhat a hippie, if that's what you're wondering by now.

By the way, since this thread don't really belong the introduce yourself section, any moderator, administrator or Rob can go ahead and relocate this thread to the my favorite game section. That way it would be in the place more appropriate for the subject.

You are definitely going to have to post pictures when it is done! With and without the blacklight!

Well, heres the new news so far.

I'm currently working part-time night shift custodian, and if I keep working here, my project would take longer for me to invest in due to bills, rent, and gasoline. I'm looking for a new job that I can get into full-time hours, that way I can actually get somewhere on this. I still think I got lucky when I saw that SH PCB on ebay, those don't show up on their very often, especially with the price I got mine.

Good news, I'm no longer having money problems. I'm gonna get to start saving money again and that also means I'm going to finish this project. It won't get finished quickly though (I'm not rich, wish I was) but I am making it a goal.

It won't get finished by the end of this year, but hopefully early the next year.

My dad and I decided we'll just get a cocktail style conversion cabinet for the SH game after the holiday season. We think the cocktail cabinet would be better around the house since it is smaller, simpler, and you can sit down and play at it as well as have a place to set our beers down at while playing.

That's going to look interesting. You may very well have the only cocktail-style Splatterhouse cab when it's done.

And sometime in the middle of finishing it, I need to get a digital camera so I can take pictures of it for you to post on west mansion.

After I get my taxes done, hopefully I'll at least be close to enough money for a conversion cabinet.

A while back, I e-mailed the Namco Arcade website for any important info I may need and even for a little help. They said all I really need to run the SH PCB is any JAMMA conversion cabinet that's capable of playing any of the other original Namco arcade games like Pac-man, Galaga, Galaxian, etc...
