SHIT! I forgot to clock in my 2007 victories for Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins (though I didn't collect all rings, I beat the fucking thing which deserves credit enough :lol) and God of War 2 (the ending was literally a cliffhanger :p). ... so, nothing for 2008 yet. But I'm sure there will be. I am, after all, a young man with nothing to do but game. :smug |

Welp, it was certainly a trial, but I whomped all stages on Hard in Mega Man Powered Up. There's only one thing I keep thinking to myself... how the crap am I going to beat Wily in the Hard Boss Rush? And can we count Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries as an entirely new game? If so, I beat it! Certainly harder than the original if you ask me... Slogra in particular was a prick to beat, lemme tell ya. Now, I'll be working on Metroid Prime 3, which is so far shaping up to be awesomer than 2... and don't get me wrong, MP2 was a very fine game indeed. |

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) :smug No, I'm not joking. Ian showed up last night with it, having bought it based on my recommendation (he said he had to make a choice between it and UG'NG, and this won out because of how he's heard me rave about the original Dracula X and SotN). I snagged his PSP and played through it in about 2 hours. Granted, so far I've only finished it with Maria, but if I can I'll be heading back through it with Richter in the near future. I've also told Ian that he ever decides to sell the game for whatever reason, that he should come see me first.
I say yes, as the guys that made it took the original game's engine, tore it down to its basics and built a totally new game on top of it, instead of just rearranging some tiles and sprites and calling it a "new game". |

HOLY HELL. :eek :eek :eek And this was just a day after I told you all that neat stuff about it... so, what's your thoughts on the remake after having experienced it for yourself? Personally, I think it's friggin' awesome all around, and I think they toned it just so that it doesn't feel like a rehash. Question for you: Was Dracula's final form a bitch or what? Granted, you fought him with Maria... considering that, I still think he's pretty damn hard. |

Yep, he'll do that. But I just love the fact that they actually took one of the more anticlimactic fights in the series and put a lot more oomph behind it! Still not as hard as the uber-painful "where the hell did the ground go" fight against Drac in Dracula X, but it's still a lot more challenging than it used to be. I'm getting close to obliterating all challenges in Mega Man Powered Up. Many of them were frustrating (I'd say Elec Man's were some of the worst so far), but nothing is too horrendous for me. All that's left are Oil Man's stages and the Boss Rushes, and "Break Man" will soon be mine! :D I'm also intending to beat Metroid Prime 3 before I go back to college (about a week-and-a-half), but progress is slow. I just now landed on Bryyo, and I'm afraid that I'm going to miss a log entry or an Energy Tank. So I'm just taking my sweet time examining every nook and cranny around me. :lol |

Mass Effect This game is simply amazing. I clocked in at around 35 hours (I did nearly every sidequest) and just loved it. Any hype you hear about this game is deserved, this is what I expected "next generation" gaming to be. I'd say more, but it's something you more need to experience for yourself. |

Dangit! I keep forgetting to log in my triumph over Metroid Prime 3. A very awesome game it was, and I do believe Samus could obliterate Master Chief any day of the week. Thankfully, the final fight wasn't as agonizing as that at the end of MP2, but it was still very fun. Also, I've beaten the USN side of Front Mission for the DS. I can't say for sure, but I think I liked the USN side a bit more than the original OCU side. They're both part of a damn fine game, and I certainly don't say that about every strategy RPG! |

Avengers (PSP/Arcade) Bionic Commando (PSP/Arcade) Final Fight (PSP/Arcade) Forgotten Worlds (PSP/Arcade) Last Duel (PSP/Arcade) Magic Sword (PSP/Arcade) Section Z (PSP/Arcade) Side Arms (PSP/Arcade) Commentary on those over here - http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Third_Moon/...?showtopic=6774 Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (DS) I finally beat it, and, like Mike predicted, the ending jerked some tears out of me :lol. I really enjoyed this one, though perhaps not quite as much as the first. I think this one might be the better game, but it's just that back when Phoenix Wright was new the first one left such an impact. I think Godot might have surpassed Edgeworth as my favorite prosecutor, he's a badass. I can't believe that Ace Attorney 4 is scheduled for less than a month from now... I think I might have liked having some more time to absorb the third, especially since I'm anxious about the 4th having someone other than Phoenix :| Omega Five (Xbox Live Arcade) I already said a little about this game in another thread, but it really is neat. One of the things I don't like is that ++ mode is pretty much the only way to get in the really high scores now. Normally when you chain combos, they go from one to ten times points, but on ++, they go from one to nine times and then instead of ten it's times THIRTY :eek. What sucks about this is that you die in one hit on ++ mode, as opposed to the normal 5 or 6 hits with life pick ups. I'd be able to tolerate this if the hit box for each character wasn't so hard to pick out, I always get cheap-shotted a few times during a playthrough and going through without getting cheap-shotted is just too frustrating to even attempt right now. |

HAH! I knew it. If it happened to me, I was almost certain it was going to happen to you too. It's okay, the ending was meant to be loaded with emotion. :D I also can't believe that the fourth game is coming out so very soon, but I'm not complaining. I'm just worried that this might be too good to be true, and a delay will be announced relatively close to its currently scheduled release. Oh, and also, as a reward for beating the game... :rollin :rollin :rollin Unfortunately, the gif of the coffee actually flying out of his hand was busted, so that was the best I could do. But you knew what I was going for. :lol ADD: D'oh! I keep forgetting to mention that I recently kicked the ass of Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun - Kunio Tachi No Banka. That's a real mouthful, but it's essentially the ten-year overdue sequel to Renegade (part of the Kunio series best associated by Super Dodge Ball and River City Ransom). Unlike Renegade, this game doesn't suck. Far from it; it's one of the best beat-em-ups on the Super Nintendo... Super Famicom, I should say, as the game was obviously not released over here. Too bad, as it totally rules. |

Donkey Kong Country 3 (VC/SNES) As with the previous two, I rented them a lot when I was younger, but never beat them back then. Finally clocked the end of the trilogy, and 103%'d (max'd) it too. This one wasn't quite as good as the second, but was better than the first... I might just be saying that because of my bias towards whoever did the second's game soundtrack, though. He apparently only did a few songs for the third, and did none for the first. I never quite noticed when I was younger how big the soundtrack was an appeal to me for these games. Alien Soldier (VC/Genesis) Whoo! Beat it. Man, as Sotenga said, Seven Force was fucking hard as hell. I could get to the last form without even getting hit, but when I got there it just tore me apart. I had to use the slowdown feature, for sake of my sanity... After about 7-8 continues I'd had enough. I think I may have actually continued more times on the Shark Boss than Seven Force though, just because my patience wore thin each time I fought him. I knew the pattern but I let frustration get to me and died quickly, many times. The rest of the game was a breeze though, I actually managed to beat the final boss without dying. I didn't find myself too fond of the game until after I beat Seven Force, when I was finally used to everything... by then I was enjoying it a lot, but there was only a little bit left. I'm definitely going to have to replay this one, since the learning curve didn't seem to wear off until after Seven Force for me. I'm sure I'll like it all the way through then, it just took forever to get used to a few things, such as switching weapons without the game pausing, learning when to dash, walking on ceilings, and doing the reflecty-attack-thing. Ninja Gaiden (VC/NES) FUCK THE LAST STAGE, MAY IT BURN IN HELL FOREVER!!! Oh man, I about had a blood vessel burst in my brain from playing it, especially 6-2. While I love the second Ninja Gaiden a lot, I just don't know for sure about this one. The game could have been a lot more fun if you could climb any wall (stop yourself from getting owned when knocked into a wall) and if the spawns weren't so God damned broken. Killing an enemy then watching him reappear while you're still on the same screen is just infuriating, especially when a game is this incredibly fast paced and precision-requiring. Blah, I'm being harsh, really. It's not a bad game, it's just aged poorly in a few attributes. It's still pretty good, despite that, it just drove me nuts for a while. It did set some mighty fine groundwork for Ninja Gaiden 2... and I suppose 3, which I've only played briefly. After how difficult the first and second games were, finding out that 3 had limited continues was a little off-putting. I'm thinking about trying to play the Japanese version (which apparently doesn't have limits), but I'm not sure when or if I really need to. |
