:lol I should have said auto-fire. If you hold the button down, it does shoot consecutively, albeit pretty damn slowly. Calling it "rapid" is extremely misleading, though :p
I can't think of enough right off the top of my head right now... Having a bit of a brain fart. You go ahead with that one, I wouldn't be able to put enough "oomph" in the intro post. |

Yeah, that was back when we were expected to wear our fingers down by pummeling the buttons on our controllers. Good times. :lol
I'm actually having a bit of the same problem, now that I've thought about it. Let me think for a while longer. |

I've whomped Shining in the Darkness, and despite not generally liking RPGs (much less dungeon crawlers), this one was really fun to play. It's just an overall well-made title, and even with a good walkthrough with very detailed maps to highlight everything, this was still a damn tough game. |

Sengoku, via SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1. Currently I'm working on Magician Lord, but how the hell do you get past that one bit that has the floating platforms, the stupid flying orbs and the bottomless pit that said orbs or a misjump will send you flying into? |

^^^ I'm afraid I don't remember that bit, or else I'd help ya. Just now on SNK Classics (which is still an awesome compilation despite some flaws), I beat Last Resort and Burning Fight, two games which I have not whomped before. LR is a fantastic shmup, even if it smacks of R-Type at several points. And BF isn't as bad a beat-em-up as you might have heard. Hey, compared to Ninja Combat, it was a decent BEU. But if you think I'm beating it on Insane which allows NO continues, you're fucked up the shaft. <_< |

I too have now beaten Burning Fight. I have to say, if it had been released before Final Fight, it might have drawn some attention. Or maybe not. The game just screams "I'm average!" And it's damned cheap sometimes. On top of that, nothing about the game said "Neo Geo" to me. It could have been done on the SNES or Genesis without losing much, if you ask me. On a side note, I think the same team that developed Street Smart worked on it. Something about the two feel similar. |

The fucking samurai douchebag with the dual swords comes to mind. I thought he was even harder than the final boss. Okay, so... I haven't beaten many new games lately because I've been on a Metal Gear kick, catching myself up on the series (most of which I've beaten before) before the release of MGS4. Not sure why I'm doing this, seeing as how I'm probably not going to get a PS3 for quite a while yet, but whatever. I've beaten the original and MG2 (courtesy of Disc 2 of Subsistence), MGS, MG for the Game Boy, MG2, and I intend to finish MGS3 later today. To finish it will be Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, which I have not beaten before. This should give me all of the story thus far. Also on the agenda are Trace Memory (an adventure title for the DS), Ninja Gaiden Black (even though I've beaten the original NG for the XBOX before, I'll count it as a separate game), and Shining Force (seeing as I've completed Shining in the Darkness, I figured this would be the next place to move up). After that, I'm not sure, so I'm open to ideas. |

Welp, I've beaten Metal Gear Solid 3 again and I'm making good progress in Portable Ops. However, I'd like to mention a fantastic shmup that I've painstakingly accomplished two days ago: Pulstar for the Neo Geo. It's a fantastic shmup, although it does smack majorly of R-Type. The design, gameplay, and evil difficulty are all very reminiscent of Irem's series, but if you're going to rip something off, might as well make it something good, eh? I will say that this game on its easiest difficulty isn't quite as vicious as R-Type, but it's still a toughie. I recommend giving it a shot, but be prepared to plug a lot of credits into the machine. However, it's well worth it to behold of what the Neo Geo is capable. |

The company that made Pulstar was rumored to be made up of ex-Irem employees. While I'm not sure I ever saw concrete confirmation on this, it really seems like that's the case. Also, if you haven't, check out the sequel, Blazing Star. It doesn't feel as R-Type-ish, though. |

I finally got off the WoW a few months ago. looks like for good, thank god I got rid of the monster. So technically I ' beat ' it, cause apparently that game is like crack, and I found many valid reasons to not like that heretic of the game world. I also have finished: Halo 3, GTA 4, S.T.A.L.K.E.R ( totally amazing game btw ), Crackdown, Tenchu Z, Naruto-whatever one was for 360, Enchanted ARMs, Last Odyssey, Devil May Cry 4, Call of duty 4, Ninja Gaiden Black, Persona 3, Final Fantasy Tactics, Makai Kingdom, Streets of Rage 2, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Elder Scrolls Oblivion 4 and Shivering Isles, and a few more I can't even remember, I've been busy. |

I know well BS, and it's a fantastic shmup. I've beaten that one a while ago, and to say the least, it's far easier than its predecessor, simply as it allows you to continue on the spot. My most recent accomplishment is Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP. It's surprisingly damn good (even though the camera can be a bitch to finagle properly) and adds some fine canon to the overall MG storyline. I am now officially caught up on all events thus far, but I'm probably not going to be able to get around to MGS4 for quite a while. Thus, this ends my Metal Gear bender for now... unless I get motivated to beat Snake's Revenge. :p |

Last night I whomped Shock Troopers and (after a long and difficult battle) Magician Lord. On the subject of Shock Troopers, even if I hadn't known that this port suffers from slowdown, I'd have figured it out after going through the game. There are a few spots where it speeds up to what I'm guessing is its normal speed, but only for a few seconds. It's a damned shame, really. |

No kidding. That's the one game I most wanted the compilation for, and it's the translation that gets botched the most. Sometimes, I think there are video game deities reigning over unseen events, and I did something to piss them off somehow and earn their eternal fury. <_< |

That's been my favorite word as of late. Maybe because of watching Metalocalypse all the time. :lol But I do have a new game to report in: Shining Force, one of the best Strategy RPGs of all times. It wasn't easy, especially since I decided to actually be strategic instead of repeating battles to grind levels. I plowed through it as quickly as I could, managing to beat SF in four days. Challenge is something that seems to be missing from RPGs today, but it was quite prominent in the 16-bit era, sonny! |

My latest accomplishment: Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, an awesome Konami import that's finally been released on the Virtual Console! Despite this game's really adorable protagonist, make no mistake; it gets pretty damn difficult in later levels. |

Yep. Yep yep yep. :D It's not the first import on the Wii; I believe that was Sin and Punishment, but I forget if that's true. Anyway, the VC hasn't been doing so grand lately, but this is more than enough to increase its awesome factor. Now give us more imports already! |

They've got some pretty cool stuff confirmed for later, like Final Soldier and Gley Lancer, too. I haven't beaten anything new, but I replayed Metal Gear Solid yesterday. Can't believe MGS4 is tomorrow :D. My PS3 better get here on time. |

Sam is correct. I am so snagging those two he mentioned. I keep hearing that Final Soldier isn't as awesome as Super Star Soldier or Soldier Blade, but I want it nonetheless. Gley Lancer is just tops, so I'm getting that one for certain. Any other imports on the horizon... doesn't look like it, but if the VC keeps rolling those in, I'll be quite happy indeed. More than anything, I would REALLY like to see... wait, Alien Soldier's already been released. I'm pretty happy right now, actually. :lol ... wait, I've thought of something! I'd like to see both of the Konami World (or Wai Wai World) games make it to America. Oh, and the Super Famicom installments of the Goemon series. That'd rule too. Also, I've got a recent game that I have beaten: The classic Secret of Monkey Island. Man, but this game is totally hilarious. I should get the others in the series and see how much they rule too. |
