They do? I've played a lot of PS3 games and haven't gotten any-do you have to be online for this? |

Wow, you must not have gotten online on your PS3 in a while, have you? Trophy support was added something like a year ago in a firmware update. It works offline, but only if you have the firmware downloaded (all newer PS3's come preloaded). |

Nope-I've never had it online (my internet connection and game systems are in different parts of the house by necessity-although I'll drag in my xbox or Wii to download a game like Splatterhouse or Tenchu Shadow Assault). I've seen the trophy section in the main menu (bought my American PS3 six months ago), but haven't gotten anything to put in it. Hmmm...might have to hook up and see what happens... |

But... dude, you get free updates from new games you buy. You really should have trophis by now unless you havent bought a new game all this year. |

I'll check. I've bought quite a few games for PS3 this year (Orochi Z, Samurai Dou 3, Pro Baseball Spirits 2009, and Yakuza 3 come to mind) and played them through (ie, unlocking everything there is) but never was notified of getting any 'trophies'. Do you get an in-game bubble telling you you've gotten them like you do with the XBox? |

Wait, wait, you got Yakuza 3? How is it? I want that game badly and I haven't heard any news on its localization. Is Yakuza Kenzan any good, too? |

From a little online investigating, it looks like the only game I've ever owned that had trophies was MLB09 The Show, which I returned before I even played it (upon my wife sending me Pro Baseball Spirits 2009). But I had installed it on my hard drive, and it left behind the trophy section-which will always be empty. It seems only games that started development in 2009 are required to have trophies, and a bunch of games (even those released in 2009) don't have them. I actually haven't played Yakuza 3 very much (because Kenzan was sucking up all my time when it was released), but have played the living hell out of "Ryű ga Gotoku Kenzan!" For anyone with an interest in pre-modern Japanese history, it's the absolute ultimate experience-especially since my house is in Kyoto, and most of the historical sites in the game are still around (it takes place in Kyoto). The only thing I don't like is that the main character is Miyamoto Musashi, whom I despise. It's kind of cool insofar that all of the characters from the other Yakuza games play characters in this one-with main character Kiryu being Musashi's new guise. Other than that...well, here's a short review the Brickster wrote recently... "...there's always the Edo period PS3 game featurin' Big Moose hisself (Musashi) as retired sword master turned yakuza enforcer, "Ryű ga Gotoku Kenzan!". Drinkin'-sometimes just drinkin' games with the gals, and sometimes just to work yerself into a stupor. Fightin'. Hangin' out at the geisha houses of Kyoto and chattin' your way into the lady's kimonos. All in a gorgeous virtual Kyoto with historical locations, where you can just wander around pointlessly, have a good time indulgin' yourself, and ignorin' what's supposed to be the main storyline for as long as you want. Kinda like what I do in real life, but cheaper and less likely to land yerself in jail." I can't recommend it enough, especially if you speak/read Japanese. Not sure if they'll localize this one-Samurai Dou 3 is slated for a US release as 'Way Of The Samurai 3', though. |

I don't know any Japanese, but I'd love to learn, and I'd also love to play the game. I really hope it gets a localization. |

One game you DEFINITELY want to get from PSN: Crash Commando. It's a 2D Contra-style deathmatch game... with FPS controls. It's so fast, so awesome, and so classic at the same time. I love it! |
