I thought there was a thread on this title already but after a check, I didn't find it so here it is. One thing I already like about this game is it goes back to the original all caps, big font logo.

Plot;
The game will cover the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica. For the Resident Evil 2 segments, the players will take control of protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. The Code: Veronica segments will allow players to take control of Claire, along with Steve Burnside. There will be new and previously unseen aspects of the series' storyline that will be explored. Albert Wesker will make an appearance in a flashback. Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin appear alongside Leon and Claire.

Gameplay;
The game will be an on-rails shooter. The player's partner will be seen on screen during gameplay, unless a co-op game is being played. Capcom has stated that they want the experience of the game to feel new, as a means to make it stand out from The Umbrella Chronicles. The game will focus more on horror, and will adjust its difficulty itself, depending on the players' skill level. This title will be using the Havok physics engine.

The game will allow players to evade attacks, to set The Darkside Chronicles apart from other on-rails shooters. Head shots will be made easier for the player to perform. The camera system will try to convey a sense of action.

I've heard about it, but I'm unfortunately not very interested. Umbrella Chronicles was a pretty mediocre affair. Although it was pretty strong on the story, which was nice after RE4 (I loved RE4, but let's face it, that was hardly a "Resident Evil" game), the gameplay ended up being pretty boring. My real beef with the rail shooters on the Wii is that they don't use lightguns. Even if you get a Wii-mote peripheral like the Zapper, all it does is change the way you're aiming the 'mote - which, I need to make painfully clear for those of you who haven't played any rail shooters on the Wii, means you're aiming a cursor rather than shooting exactly where you point the tip of the 'mote. It completely ruins the fun of the rail shooter genre.

I got to the end of Umbrella Chronicles and never finished it because it just got boring... I want to go back to it, and I probably will, but I'm not going to be picking Darkside Chronicles up until it's $15/$20 or less.

Chances are the game will be using motion plus optional. But other than that, I am quite excited for this game as I had enjoyed Umbrella Chronicles. But essentially this game looks as if they took what they did in UC that was good, and enhanced it. To me, it appears that the Darkside Chronicles is created to appear as if it is a cinematic appearance with you interacting with it. It also appears that some other games decided to go with the rail shooting route on the Wii because of the easy compatibility and the ability to expand what other rail shooting games were not able to do. That is taking advantage of the wii remotes ability to use motion for melee defense and other interactions. I do remember slapping my forehead when I first learned that UC allowed defensive motions such as the knife.

Sure it's kinda sad that they did not give RE2 or Code Veronica the same treatment that they gave REmake which was simply stunning still, but because I fully enjoyed what they did with Umbrella Chronicles... I know that I will be happy with the game. Of course we do not know if the game is limited to RE2 and CV. Chances are that there might be some side missions as seen in UC (or a completely original one).

I am positive it'll be more than RE2 and CV. UC had 3 main campaigns so I'm guessing another campaign will be RE4 plus I'm sure a side mission will be based on the mercenaries.

As much as I love Capcom, if you show them an opening to grub money, they will jump right the fuck on it. Considering Umbrella Chronicles was somewhat popular with the "gimmick" crowd, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the game's length was shortened and it was fewer campaigns than UC.

Yeah, I will have to agree with that. One of UC's main campaigns was completely original if I remember correctly. It is possible that there will be yet another completely original one for Darkside. Or heck, even the mission that resulted in Jill's disappearance seen in RE5. Though at this time it is safe to say that Darkside is focused on games involving Claire Redfield. But I guess RE4 is possible but I highly doubt that Capcom would make a mission which does not involve using the zombie physics that they made for the rest of the game.

Well, Ada Wong is going to be one of the main characters of the game so we'll see. I wouldn't mind seeing what happened from the moment she dropped to the moment she threw the rocket launcher to Leon.

I honestly haven't played UC all that much. I may change that at some point, but I wasn't wowed when playing it. Mostly, it felt like it took too many bullets to kill everything, sort of killing the pace of a game in a genre that I feel should ideally be fast-paced. I should give it a more earnest chance sometime, but it's not a high priority.

Hence, I'm not all that enthralled for DC, but since it's based around my favorite game in the series (RE2) and a game I felt was underrated (CV), it might be worth checking out. If it fixes the pacing gripes I have, it'll be a solid addition to my Wii library.

On a semi-related note, Steve sounds less obnoxious this time around. Heh.

I am waiting for this game to come out. Resident Evil 2 was my favorite of the series and Code Veronica was close to that. Though at the same time, even though I did like UC, it did get quite boring after awhile.
