When Singletrac was still around, Twisted Metal was their major hit but it's not the only Car Combat game they released. Critical Depth and Rogue Trip were the others. Critical Depth was essentially "submarine" combat since the whole game was underwater. Rogue Trip takes place in the post-apocalyptic world where you battle other vehicles to pick up tourists and take them to designated areas for pictures. It's pretty much Twisted Metal meets Crazy Taxi.

When this game first came out, in about 1998, I rented it and played it all the way through, unlocking everything in the game and had tons of fun doing it. The cars are pretty varied, from an ambulance to a weinermobile and the drivers are just as looney. Setbacks are the graphis are very oudated for now, they were mediocre back then. There are no real endings either, you just unlock another secret code. I would have liked there to be actual endings, but oh well, a decade too late.

Anyway, I just saw it on ebay the other day for less than a dollar in new condition. I won it and the total is under 7 bucks and I can't wait for it to arrive.

Here's more info on the game;

I used to play this a whole lot when it first came out, but like the Twisted Metal games, I don't think I'd enjoy them in the slightest, anymore.

Ahhh, that's where we differ alot. For me, I'm returning back to that era of games and even to the NES/SNES/Sega days. Newer games haven't done much for me at all so I'm going back to the times when I actually enjoyed them.

I'm a huge fan of a lot of classics, but most early 3D titles were never really that good to begin with and were always a bit gimmicky. They've aged pretty poorly, too.

I remember playing the hell out of this one back in the day, loving it far more than Twisted Metal and working to unlock everyone. I even somehow got the final boss, Big Daddy, though what I'm almost certain was GameShark magick. I really haven't played RT in a long while, and if I get the time to fit it in, I should do so.
