Okay, so I don't have the authority to unarchive the old one, so I started this thread.

I just got this a couple of days ago at Gamestop, during their "buy 2 used games, get 1 free" sale, and I've only played a few games on it, so far...

But holy shit is Shock Troopers awesome! I read in the other thread it was slowed down a bit, and I can definitely feel it being a little slow, but, damn, it's a seriously fun game that I'm surprised I hadn't gotten around to playing up until now.

Magician Lord is pretty damned hard, and in a slightly unbalanced way... If you take some hits and aren't powered up in certain areas, you're just dead. That said, it is a cool game, and I love some of the level designs, enemies, and, of course, the engrish.

Sengoku, although it plays like a pretty ordinary beat 'em up, has some ridiculously awesome personality. I really like how much creativity went into it, and I kinda want to play the sequels, now.

Last Resort looked really cool at first, but ended up playing a bit mediocre - admittedly, though, I've not really played it enough to get a good idea of it.

Shock Troopers is a total gem, yes.

Have you beaten it yet? It has a really cool last boss, if I remember correctly. Well, it isn't all that cool, but the level leading up to it is really awesome (:

You really can't go wrong with Neo-Geo, to be honest.

To tell you the truth, despite the sequels being higher in detail and such, I found them lacking the feeling the original did. They felt empty and less mystical in my opinion.

Despite the issues that plague it, I still like SNK Arcade Classics quite a bit. Any comp that finally let me have my own copy of Magician Lord to play whenever I want to can't be all bad, y'know?

One of these days I'll have to hook the PS2 back up and give it another spin.

Shock Troopers is kickassery and then some. It really is a fantastic game, and I advise checking out its sequel, even though that's not as awesome. Magician Lord is a favorite, even though the game is just blatantly unfair. Sengoku has a neat setting to it, but it's not technically great; same goes for the sequel. However, as far as gameplay is concerned, Sengoku 3 is beautiful! It's not as over-the-top as its predecessors, however, but it's my favorite in the series. Last Resort is a good game, not the best shmup I ever played, but it's good for what is a pretty high R-Type ripoff.

I've a question, Dual: Have you played Burning Fight yet? And is it as mediocre as I think it is?

I haven't gotten around to Burning Fight, yet. I'll give you the word on what I think when I do, though. I've mostly only been playing the few that I've mentioned, so far, I had to start all the way over on Magician Lord after getting to the next-to-last boss thanks to a power outage, too... :lol

I've only played Shock Troopers II so I can't say anything about Shock Troopers I. Say, is Sengoku that game where your that guy in red who has the habit of throwing Hadoukens out of his fists into Japanese demon faces? If so I've played the first one and the third one. Good games.
