Ok, I suck at writing reviews cause I just get to the point and tend not to "paint the picture". But I'll give it a shot here. Story; Now, this game is a retelling of RE0, RE1, and RE3. I'm not going into the history of the games, if your're reading this and haven't played the RE games, you need to go get them NOW! 0 and 1 are pretty intact with the scenery and what happens. They both use the maps from the Gamecube versions. RE3 is nothing like the ps1 version. Only the fact that you're running through the town at some point. It seems to have more in common with RE Outbreak file 2 that it takes the subway map from. The stories get jarbled a little bit and some stuff is in different areas but the general idea of the games is there. Now, added to these scenarios are a completely new one which takes place in Russia, a few of Wesker's behind-the-scenes missions, Ada escaping the city during RE2, and Hunk's 4th survivor mission. Control; Obviously, this being a 1st person shooter, you'll be using the wii-mote the whole time. It works pretty damn well and even tracks every little figit you do, so if you tend to jerk the controller a little when pressing the shooting button, it'll send the bullet flying off to the side. You get used to it though and learn to steady your hand. It sort of feels like you're playing with a super vibrator, but it doesn't really take you out of the experience much at all. Now, the thing is, you shoot where the on screen reticle is; you can't really aim using your wii-mote. So, if you were to get some peripheral shaped like a gun, you'ld end up pissed because where you aim isn't necessarily where the system sees were the gun is pointing to. You also shake the wii-mote to reload the weapons and while holding the action button and "air slicing" you get to use your knife. You also use the little nunchuk thing with the wii-mote. That's mainly used for looking around the area and cycling through weapons. The only problem with that is it doesn't go past the spent weapons so you'll need to hit the cycle button a few times to get to a weapon that still has ammo in it. Why you would wanna switch to a weapon that has no ammo is beyond me. Graphics and stuff; Like I said before, the maps used for 0 and 1 are the same maps in the GC versions so you'll know what to expect. All the maps have the same quality and detail. The characters/enemies are very well rendered, even more so than what was in the Gamecube. The new tyrants that were created for this game look stupid. Graphically, they are the same as all the other characters but the design of them make them look like some Eurotrash club hoppers. The music is the same RE fair with great orchestrations, and haunting notes during the quiet moments. The dialogue is pretty bad and not even cheesy, just bad. It's ok, you won't be listening to what they have to say most of the time EXCEPT for Wesker. This is pretty much a game for him, if you play it you'll understand. His dialogue isn't really as bad as the other characters but the sound of his voice is so terrible. No longer is he an American, now he's apparently a stuck up British snob. Wanna know what he sounds like? Create a very hokey British accent for yourself, now hold your nose while saying "Chris and Jill, we will meet again." That's what Wesker sounds like. extras, secrets, etc. The game encourages you to shoot at EVERYTHING. Destroying certain items can get you secret diaries, viles, items, ammo, new weapons, and alternate paths. Rating; 8/10 This game is fun. Hell, it's always fun shooting zombies but this game has you going through the RE storyline while shooting zombies and other monsters, it's just insanely fun. To be fair to the skeptics, I do like RE Dead Aim, just about the same amount as I like this game but it's tons better than Gun Survivor. Pros; *graphics *sounds *shooting *retelling past stories *extras for fans Cons; *Garbling up the past stories *bad dialogue *Wesker's voice * design of the new tyrants |
