Yep...that's me, the Welfare Lady

Posted Image Equilisim Party Manifesto Equilisim Party is committed to a Social Democracy; a democracy where sexual and racial equality, Gay and Lesbian rights, and freedom from oppression are top priorities. We believe in, and are working toward, a world where cooperation replaces competition, where all people are well fed, clothed and housed; where all women and men have equal status; where all individuals may, without restraint, attempt to fulfill their own talents and desires; a world of true Liberty, where every community retains its cultural integrity and lives with all in harmony. Social Democracy We support social ownership and democratic management of key industries and natural resources. Under laissez faire capitalism, the proceeds of labor go to the profits of the wealthy few. With Social Democracy, production of resources needed by the vast majority is planned to meet human needs. Governmental Role We believe that all legislative and executive officials are to be elected, recallable at any time. A true Social Democracy can only be brought about when we unite and act as a body in our own interests, electing officials that agree with our own conscious. Our goals cannot be achieved by electoral means alone. We believe that the people endow the government with the authority that it possesses. We therefore believe that it is the government’s obligation to serve the people and ensure and protect their civil rights. We support an independent and appointed court of law. A court that is free from public manipulation is the only security for the minority against tyranny by the majority. We believe that all shall be accountable to the law. Constitution We believe that the constitution is a living, breathing document that serves the citizens of USE. As such, we believe interpreting the document with a Progressive view; and not interpreting it as a stationary document. Peace and International Justice We stand for peace between nations and the right of all peoples to self-determination. We support an ongoing socialist transformation everywhere. We do not support intervention by USE anywhere, unless it is in the progression of Freedom and Equality. We believe that the best defense is the encouragement of democracy’s globally through inter-regional organizations. We are against any and all military pacts; and we shall not support any bill that calls for mandatory Service for the military. Equal Rights and Liberties We believe in Political freedoms for the beliefs of all people, civil and human rights, freedom of speech and of religion, and the right to a fair trial. We demand equal treatment of all people by employers, businesses and government. We stand for a world free from all forms of oppression. We demand full equality for women in all aspects of life. Sexism is a major instrument for teaching inequality. We demand an end to all forms of racial discrimination, and the enforcement of non-discrimination in hiring and promotion. We demand equal treatment and benefits under the law for all families. Guarantee equal child custody, adoption, visitation privileges, and foster parenthood rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; equal treatment for all people in the military regardless of sexual orientation. We demand the right to gay marriage and partners' benefits. Defense of the Environment We demand that international agreements guarantee the protection of Human Rights and the environment in all participating countries. Freedom, Justice and Crime We call for the defense and extension of the liberties, including freedom of speech, press, assembly and association. We therefore call for democratically controlled police review boards with powers of subpoena and discipline. We are against unwarranted searches and seizures of persons and property. We support proportional representation to promote legislative representation of the wide variety of political viewpoints. Taxes We pressure for a progressive tax system. With those making more money paying more in taxes, and the abolition of income tax on low- and moderate-income people. We support a tax on the business activities of churches on the same basis as other organizations. Immigration We believe in cultural diversity, and that the freedoms of USE should be guaranteed to any who seek it. As such, we seek to allow citizenship to any and all who seek it, with only a nation in USE as a qualification. |

"We support social ownership and democratic management of key industries and natural resources. Under laissez faire capitalism, the proceeds of labor go to the profits of the wealthy few. Just a quick statement government involvement in industries and laissez-faire capitalism are different things laissez-faire is free from state involvement. |
