| Hello, this is the World of Matar! Where we tell grand tales, and also manage to fit in the odd complaint about what have you. But we love each other. Well most of us. Well, some of us. Well, one of us. Maybe. Basically, here's how it goes down: There's the General Discussion for anything, hence the "general". And the Introductions and Farewell section for, well, introductions and farewells. There's TWoM RP with three sections, and a fourth one coming soon when the story demands it, for role playing, a Codex section for your questions, and some Guidelines. There's the Fantasy Role Plays for all other original RPs (Role Plays), and not just fantasy but sci-fi and what not. Currently there is... nothing. Yeah. Kinda depressing. There's the Fan Based RPs for when we want to RP either as people from games, books, or movies or base the RP off of said published work. Currently we have Final Fantasy I and I believe that Fate/Stay Night is getting started. There's the Creative Writing with story time where residents can both write and read original stories from creepypastas to fanfictions to ramblings. And soon enough there may even be a Blog section there as well. There's the Battle System section all on its own, this is a proto-system headed by Metal Neil and may one day be implimented into some RP. Or not. We're not sure about all that. Join our community! The Tower of Latria sounds awesome, tbqh. We're in pretty big need of a good ol' fashioned horror RP, and what better way than it being out of the most difficult goddamn game to grace the planet? I have some input regarding the tower, though - I was thinking, if the only setting is the tower, it could be difficult to develop a storyline. But if we based it off of the Demon's Souls setting as a whole, we could use the entire world, maybe even co-op create the Land of the Giants (Which, to non-demon's souls players, is a world that was cut off from the essential 'home base' of the game, due to some unknown reason) From the suspenseful beginning, to the dark atmosphere, to the versatility we could interpret with the currently uncreated Land of Giants, it sounds like it really has potential. Didn't much like the second one, if only for the reason it doesn't sound like something I would be into. Futuristic chaos just isn't something that appeals to me. Regarding the Magic: The Gathering, it sounds fantastic as well, and I'd be open to the possibility of an RP mostly because I have no history with the card game/lore of the subject. My only gripe is that all the characters would essentially be magic-based, and it would be difficult to create versatility within their movesets. All in all, these are some pretty awesome ideas. ![]() Helluva lot better than what Addy and I came up with. |

Yeah, I just was going to have ToL be a mini-rp and have the quest be get out of the tower and depending on how well it would go, I might continue it. And on MtG, Mage doesn't restrict you to only magic. Take Odric and Garruk for example, bother are warriors and planeswalkers. Really the only big defining characteristic of a planeswalker is they can cast magic and have the ability to easily move between planes. |

Okay. Like I said, I know close to zero on the topic. So there would be much discovery if we ended up doing something like that.

Magic system for MtG rp... BECAUSE WHY NOT!! Basically the system involves instead of magic being based upon elements such as fire, water, earth, air, etc., it is based off of colors. The colors and what they identify are listed below Red: This involves impact or chaos magic. What this means is that it is very offensive and has little to no ways of defending itself, making others weaker, or allies stronger. It is generally erratic and can be quite unpredictable. Blue: Blue magic covers mental magic and counters. Mental magic covers a wide spectrum of things and includes spells such as memory wipes, enhanced senses, and increased reflexes. Blue magic is also the best magic for countering spells, although defenses past that are pretty brittle. Black: Black magic is the magic of debuffs and damage over time spells. The spells are generally focused on making their opponent weaker and then defeating them slowly and painfully. Green: Green magic is the most defensive and 'brute force' of the 5 colors. While it doesn't directly harm others like red spells do, green spells are good at making the user stronger and then attacking the other person, directly crashing into their defenses, sometimes breaking them to allow for a follow up attack. Green magic is quite slow to cast however. White: White magic is used for buffing allies and other support. White mages most commonly use their spells on other people rather than themselves since their own attacks aren't extremely strong in the first place. It should be noted now that these colors aren't all necessarily linked to an element. For example, it is possible for a Blue mage to specialize in lightning or a Green mage to use light based spells. Another thing is that there is such thing as dual-coloring and even tr-coloring. The way that it works is based somewhat around a circle that works with colors matching or conflicting each other. This is as follows: Red: Goes with black and green, is opposed by white and blue Blue: Goes with black and white, is opposed by green and red Black: Goes with red and blue, is opposed by white and green Green: Goes with white and red, is opposed by blue and black White: Goes with green and blue, is opposed by black and red As you can see, it is simple to see which colors are used with what when using dual or tri colored magi. These combinations don't have exact types of magic set in stone however and is up to the rp-er to choose what the combination yields. Just because the colors don't match however, it doesn't mean they can't be dual-colored together. It is possible to have a blue-red mage, the only problem is is that along with having a powerful combination perhaps (in this case attacks that can go through defenses and spells that can counter others), there are some consequences such as madness/or insanity that one may deal with (or some other side effect that I will have to think up later). Although dual-coloring opposing colors is possible, it is impossible for one to tri-color with an opposing element (ie combinations like red-blue-white are impossible). A final thing I am considering whether to implement or not is that whatever color the mage chooses, it has some sort of effect on their personality. For some quick examples: Blue: Analytic Red: Unpredictable Black: Selfish Green: Patient White: Kind Dual/tri-coloring would combine personalities as expected |

Alchemist/Artificer/Thief Idea Name: Grant Wayland Gender: Male Age: 22 Appearance: Grant stands a bit shorter than average and is a bit lighter than the average person as well. He has short cut brown hair and dull gray eyes. He has a tanned complexion and his attire looks like that of a mechanics: short sleeved white shirt with long brown pants. On his belt he has several pouches that contain various ingredients and mechanical parts he uses to make potions and magical items in his off time. Backstory: Grant was raised in a middle-upper class family with roots in crafting arcane objects, be it potions or enchanting weapons. By the time he was born however, the art was considered dead in the family as no great craftsmen or women have been born for decades in the family. It was when Grant was a teenager however that he should signs of being able to bend magic weaves and form them to various objects. His forging wasn't as great as that of his ancestors, but he was still skilled enough to gather some notice of locals. His works to him however were too mundane for his tastes and eventually turned to something his family hadn't touched for centuries, alchemy. He had to practice Alchemy in secret however as before the Church already was wary of him, and he knew they would think he was practicing dark magic if they were to find out he was practicing alchemy. Although his work was much slower in Alchemy than it was in being an Artificer, he appreciated the grandeur and scale of power the objects he made now held. He devoted most of his time to research and experiments and soon became obsessed with a quest he had called "The Magnum Opus", he was trying to forge the Philosopher's Stone. He spent years working, mixing metals, bending magic, reforming magic, and even had to create an entire new system of enchanting in order to complete some steps. It took years, but he eventually reached a vital first step in his quest, ironically, by accident; he had made a Living Metal similar to that of Mercury. Grant had called it "Azoth" and used it as a multi-tool in his shop and it helped speed some processes along. He continued his work and was on the verge of another breakthrough, but then tragedy struck. When he returned to his workshop one day, he saw that everything was moved and some objects stolen. Grant went mad with rage, whatever wasn't broken in his shop was broken and even that wasn't enough for him. He left his shop and in the dead of night went to the church, thinking they were the ones who did it, thinking that they must have found out what he had been doing for the past few years. The only thing he had left to show for all his work was Azoth, which he had clenched in his fist. He threw open the doors of the church and approached the Priest who looked stunned to see him. The Priest stood and tried to calm the greatly angered Grant, but grant would hear none of it. He drew his arm back and saw that Azoth had streamed through his fingers and solidified into the shape a long and slender punching dagger. Grant had never entertained the idea before of murdering someone, but now he didn't even think before driving the dagger through the mans stomach. Grant pulled out the metal which was now covered in blood and the Priest yelled in pain. Grant made a slash at the throat, silencing the man and killing him. When he realized what he had done Grant escaped from the Church and left the town, not wanting to face punishment for his crime. Since then he had taken up traveling from town to town, making crafts as an artificer only, not an alchemist, knowing that that path lead only to madness, despair, and paranoia. Weapon: "Azoth" - In its base state, it appears to be a perfectly spherical ball of metal about the size of a racquetball. It actually is a sample of living metal that Grant has created that can shift into any shape as long as it retains the same total mass and volume. Density can increase/decrease as well if needed to fit smaller/larger shapes. Image Armor: - Inventory: Portable Ember Bag of Holding Spectacles of Comprehend Languages Spells: To Be Filled Yeah, I know it sucks hard, but that's why I throw it in the cryo vault. |
