| Hello, this is the World of Matar! Where we tell grand tales, and also manage to fit in the odd complaint about what have you. But we love each other. Well most of us. Well, some of us. Well, one of us. Maybe. Basically, here's how it goes down: There's the General Discussion for anything, hence the "general". And the Introductions and Farewell section for, well, introductions and farewells. There's TWoM RP with three sections, and a fourth one coming soon when the story demands it, for role playing, a Codex section for your questions, and some Guidelines. There's the Fantasy Role Plays for all other original RPs (Role Plays), and not just fantasy but sci-fi and what not. Currently there is... nothing. Yeah. Kinda depressing. There's the Fan Based RPs for when we want to RP either as people from games, books, or movies or base the RP off of said published work. Currently we have Final Fantasy I and I believe that Fate/Stay Night is getting started. There's the Creative Writing with story time where residents can both write and read original stories from creepypastas to fanfictions to ramblings. And soon enough there may even be a Blog section there as well. There's the Battle System section all on its own, this is a proto-system headed by Metal Neil and may one day be implimented into some RP. Or not. We're not sure about all that. Join our community! | Something Unfinished; The mercenary, almost clear in conscience, realizes the nagging feeling still there. Holding a card in his hand, he acts. | |

There was still one thing for him to do. That card. What felt like a forever ago, he'd been given it by an unfamiliar face. While he did mean to get around to paying a visit to the mysterious distributors... other things directed his attention, and more truthfully, it was as Light herself said. Everyone feels fear. He had reservations about this, but he couldn't shake the feeling like it was... expected of him. He had to wonder of the ones who had given him this card had been watching, perhaps even before he'd joined up with the rest of the group. Could they be privy to his other machinations? Perhaps he'd find out. Either way, Lycan draws in a breath and steps on through, silently having a seat across the table from the room's two occupants. |

The master of the Velvet Room, inscrutable as ever, looks up from the arrangement of cards on the table in front of him. Perhaps his bloodshot eyes do see through to the mercenary's darkest secrets... or perhaps they do not. At any rate, his grin never fades. 'Welcome to the Velvet Room.' Igor waves his hand, and the door closes behind Lycan. 'I must confess, your visit here is not entirely unexpected. Those who are guests in the Velvet Room do not visit lightly...' He gives a small chuckle. 'Therefore, you should not feel that you have slighted us by your reservations. Those who call upon our services call when they need to... and every meeting here is a fateful one.' Pleasantries concluded, Igor leans forward in his chair. Margaret sits off at his side, eyes on the visitor to the room and one hand on the rather weighty tome in her lap. 'Now then. How can I assist you?' One might suspect that Igor already knew the answer, but the question was posed for formalities sake as much as anything else. |

"Expected, yes. I suppose the delay was... expected as well." Time to lay the cards out on the table. (Well, card.) Literally. His hand places the very same one given to him onto the surface, near the table's edge, then withdraws into his cloak as he slouches back. The very moment it touched that glossy tabletop, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow... relinquishing control of destiny, in a way. Perhaps just a superstition. Guess he'd see what these two had in store. "Guess it's to see where and how I fit into all of this." |

Igor places a single gloved hand over the card, and lifts it off the table, for his eyes to see alone. 'Destiny is a strange thing is it not? Some when told of their fate fall into despair, for what value has choice in a world where the journey has only one ending? Others struggle, and in their own way fulfill the choice they were desperate to avoid.' Igor places the card on the table, face down once more. As his hand passes over it, it glows blue for a moment. 'Let me ask you the same thing then. Does this card represent your destiny? And if so... what does that mean for you?' |

What a loaded question that was. Who knows. Did it reflect fate for the mercenary? And did that trouble him much? He himself believed that to some extent, the future was his to make. He wouldn't be the man he was today if it wasn't. He'd possibly be someone... or something much worse. "I guess the truth of it is, it all doesn't mean too much whether it is, or isn't." Lycan tents his hands in front of his face, glancing at the face-down card, holding a paused breath a moment. "And, I think you just might know... that it's not supposed to be me sitting here." |

Margaret smirks as Lycan gives his first answer. 'Whether or not the final destination is known, it is the journey that gives our existence meaning. The significance of the card is for you to decide alone.' At the second comment though, she frowns. 'The Velvet Room only appears to those that have been chosen by...' She pauses for a moment, and looks at Igor. Igor seems to be sizing up Lycan in light of him voicing his doubts. Perhaps he knows, perhaps he doesn't. 'And why, pray tell, would you believe that?' |

"Call it a hunch, but even so: There's another out there. I can't say who, but this person is free from the system. Even now, they leap from realm to realm, in a complex game of cat and mouse. Originally, this person was supposed to be chosen, but I gave myself as a substitute so that they could roam freely." The mercenary was certainly forthcoming about this torrent of information. "Even now, I've been doing what I can to make sure the system itself stays off of that one's trail. It's not much but... they can handle theirself." Lycan closes his eyes as he lays out this situation before these two. "I only say this as a warning. There's another here. Another from my world. A person I can't fight. I can't guarantee anything, but the new threat... the 'Corruption', it feels as if it's tied to that one individual." The rest could very well explain itself, but for the sake of simplicity, it turns out the Mercenary Lycan, had become a stand-in for another chosen while that would've been chosen hunts down an old enemy from outside the system's constraints. "So I guess this goes back to the beginning, where I wonder what fate awaits those such as myself, who weren't expressively 'chosen'." |

At the end of Lycan's explanation, which Igor patiently sat through, never once interjecting, the Master of the Velvet Room looks down at the Card on the table. 'Perhaps that is why the card remained blank in your hand. You did not believe that you truly belonged here, passed over as you were by the System which governs this world.' He then looks up. 'Take heart then, for your fears are groundless.' Margaret leans over and picks the card off the table. 'You were expressly chosen. You chose yourself, placed yourself in the way of Destiny, and in so doing, became as much a part of this as any one selected in the normal fashion. When it passed you over...' She turns the card to face Lycan, at last. ![]() 'You made your own. The Wheel of Fortune.' |

Perhaps if one looked close enough, and had the X-Ray vision to see through his mouth obscuring cloak... they might just see the faintest grin out of relief. So it seemed like the workings of... well, everything that still stands in quasi-existence turned out to be pretty cool with this newfound fact. Lycan would be lying if he'd said he didn't feel a metaphorical weight lifted from his shoulders. But he still had someone who belonged on the inside who was currently on the run from whatever forces that would seek to bind them to their original purpose. "This person. The one that I'd exchanged places with. Even now, that one continues to flee from the system's grasp. Suppose it was in the System's best interest that they continued to be a stray element... Even bound within it as I am, I've done what I can to keep it off their trail. There's no... consequence for this?" |

'I am afraid that you would have to consult with one of the representatives of the system for a definite answer to that question.' Margaret's reply is quite suggestive. Perhaps she's hinting that neither herself or Igor are a part of the system as such. Or to cut out a lot of obfuscating hinting nonsense, that's exactly what she's implying. 'It would not be prudent to do so however. They may be forced into action.' Action sounds rather nebulous. |
