My Ps2 Is Breaking.

:( Can't afford another console so I only have a PS2.

I bought Cricket 07 (which I've had before) and FIFA 08 the other day. £15 for the two. I didn't have any games so I needed some. Anyway, a day after buying them, whilst playing FIFA, my PS2 started to make a loud buzzing noise and the system was getting really hot. It never used to get this hot. I turned it off and left it a bit, but it happens every time I play it now. It starts about 20 minutes in and then doesn't stop. I've read it could be that the fan has gotten too dusty. How can I un-dust it? I don't want to take it apart because I did that with my old one and it broke. :(

What can I do?

Is it a slimline? How old is it?

Yeah, slimline. Got it about 2-3 years ago.

Do you leave it on for long periods of time?

Not much, no. There will be the odd-time that I leave it on for a while but not often.

If the warranty is up you may as well crack it open.

Screwdriver?

EDIT: DM says the little rubber legs that you can pop off. Sounds well wrong but there you are.

I've taken all the screws off, I already knew about the rubber pads. It's actually taking the base apart from the top that is impossible.

get the nozzle of a hoover and bung it into the opening where you put the disc. Then get a cotton bud and clear out the vents at the back, that'll clear the dust. if its not dust then i'll tell you the next step :nin:

I managed to take it apart. There was a screw under a sticker which I didn't see. I've blew in it and now I'm going to give it a try.

I'll report back.

PS2 is completely busted now. The light comes on the front but it won't turn on at all.
