Jack was enjoying himself, or rather, "enjoying" himself. Jack has never been one to be openly happy. He simply, at the time, was not really annoyed at anything. It was almost as if he was looking for something to be annoyed at. He scuffed his feet as he walked down the street. His harmonica jingled at his neck, almost asking to be played. Jack looked down at his harmonica, almost instantly stopping. He was rather bored, and decided to pull out a little tune. Jack walked to the nearest building, propped his back against the wall, and began to play.

A small crowd of people circled around him as he played, amazed by his talent. "Wow, what talent!" "He's great!" "What a musician!" "That's some great playing!" After about ten people were watching him play, he decided to stop. He didn't particularly like drawing attention to himself. He didn't believe he was such a good musician. He let his harmonica hang by his neck once more, and began to head for the Marine Headquarters, his original destination. The small crowd was rather disappointed in him. "Aww, come on!" "That's no fun! You were doing great!" "It's a shame, I was enjoying myself.." Jack frowned as he heard the crowd whining. He crossed his arms, now rather annoyed. Inside, he was satisfied, as he had found something to get annoyed about. He stomped off towards the Headquarters, ignoring the people's pleas to play some more. Jack sighed heavily. "Wow, that was annoying," He said.

Upon his arrival at the Headquarters, he heard some shouting coming from two Petty Officers. "What the heck, man? This mission is way too hard!" "Shut up, it doesn't matter! We have to do it!..." The two officers stopped as they saw that Jack was approaching them. "What in sam hill are you two talking about so loudly for?" Jack was irritated that these two were being so loud. One of the officers looked down, avoiding eye contact with Jack. Jack wasn't a particularly intimidating person, but he could be rather mean sometimes. The officer didn't want to get yelled at. The other officer looked at Jack and said, "Well, the thing is.. We just got a mission from the Cap'n.. But it's way too hard!" Jack frowned. More marines complaining about work. Jack hadn't gotten a mission in the past couple of weeks, how come these two got one? "Sigh.. how hard is it?" The officer who had been looking down finally looked up and said, "Well, we're supposed to take out a group of thugs, but there's supposed to be about four or five of them, and there's only two of us!.." Jack gave the two officers a stare of disgust. Not only had these two ruffians gotten a challenging mission, but they didn't even want a mission! Jack had been looking for a mission for several weeks. He decided to make a "deal" with the officers. "Right, then. Looks like it's my mission now." The two marines jumped for joy. "Oh, thank you!.. How can we help?" Jack glared at them. "I don't need your help. It's my mission now." Jack walked off, crossing his arms. The two officers frowned and scratched their heads.

Jack was satisifed. He had managed to get a mission. But, if he was right.. He was going to need help, even though he just declined help. He frowned and got annoyed by his own decision. How was one guy going to take down a group of four-five thugs on his own? He could ask for help, he figured, from higher-ranked marines, like a couple of Ensigns or a Lieutenant. He shrugged; he would probably just wait until someone asked him about it. He wasn't in a particular mood to go on a wild goose chase for possible allies.

Nana lit another cigarette as she walked off her ship. They just docked at Marine headquarters a few minutes ago. A couple of soldiers were waiting for her, their stances straightening into a salute. She ignored them as she passed. One of them quickly rebounded and ran to catch up with her.
"Lieutenant Corgi! Admiral Jade gave us orders to help you."
I don't need your help. I'm looking for the Chief Petty Officer with the mission. Go frolic in flowers or something."
Nana stopped moving, turning her head she blew her smoke into the Marine's face and resumed walking. The soldier wouldn't be deterred and he followed her again.
"Lieutenant Corgi I am under orders. I can't disobey an order."
Stopping again Nana threw her cigarette onto the ground and rubbed it out with her foot. She grabbed her pack only to find it empty. Sighing she put it back into her pocket.
"I don't care, make yourself useful and find me some smokes. After that you can contact Jade and deal with whatever she's going to give you like a man." She said coldly.
This time when she resumed her walking the soldier didn't follow her. Most likely frozen if fear, good he should be.

It took her longer than normal to reach headquarters and she was a little agitated without a smoke. Any soldier she passed stopped what they were doing and saluted her. Abruptly Nana stopped in front of what she thought was a chore boy.
"Where's an officer named Jack. I have business with him."
The boy trembled as he pointed down the hall, she smiled at him and patted his back. Heading towards the direction he pointed. Now the question was, would she be able to recognize him when she found him? Most Marines looked all the sa--
"What are you?"
The man, if it was a man, before her was... odd looking, to be nice. Her lips lifted up and her eyes glanced circles on his form. Sighing she rubbed between her eyes.
"Na na, they just get weirder and weirder. I'm going to make a wild guess that you're Chief Petty Officer Jack." She said with a bored tone.

Suddenly, it was like Jack's wishes had been granted. A rather slender female - not particularly bad looking (not that Jack really cared for looks) - approached him. She almost appeared.. cat-like. She also smelt like cigarettes. Jack hated people who smoked. He didn't think it was cool at all, and he had read in an article that every cigarette you smoke reduces your life span by 11 minutes. That's eleven minutes more Jack could spend living. Per cigarette. Jack wondered what she had to say to him.

"What are you?"

Jack immediately shut his (large) mouth, afraid he was going to say something he would later regret. The look on his face told all; he hadn't even known this broad for a minute yet, and he already hated her. Jack seemingly pierced holes into her with his angry, beady eyes. He still kept his mouth shut.

"Na na, they just get weirder and weirder. I'm going to make a wild guess that you're Chief Petty Officer Jack." She said, appearing rather bored. The only people that act bored around here are the "hotshots", Jack thought. Great. She had insulted him off the bat, and she was a hotshot. This "relationship" would not get very far. Jack finally managed to say something, gritting his teeth."That's.. Me.." He said, each time pausing so a crude word would not slip out of his abnormally large mouth. He then mentally collected himself; apparently this woman was a Lieutenant, which meant he was a higher rank than Jack. By a lot, too. After finally calming down, he finally managed to say more. He looked away as he talked; looking her in the eye would him more irritated.

"We're supposed to.. Take down a group of thugs," He said, arms crossed. "There'll be about four or five of them, by what I was told. What a pain.." He said, sighing. This mission was going to be annoying. "If anything, I'd say they would be at.. probably the abandoned bar, down the way," He said, flopping his arm in the vicinity of the bar. Jack decided to voice his honest opinion. "Two of us ain't going to be enough. I'm not so hot, and you look rather weak.. for a Lieutenant. We should.. wait for someone else, probably." Jack sighed. He was hoping she would get a bit offended by the statement, but not enough to warrant a punishment. Jack crossed his arms and looked around, hoping for another marine to miraculously show up. Four people would be optimal, but only having three would suffice. These thugs probably weren't that great, anywho.

"Two of us ain't going to be enough. I'm not so hot, and you look rather weak.. for a Lieutenant. We should.. wait for someone else, probably."
Nana couldn't help but laugh at his comment. She covered her mouth with her hand to help her calm down. There wasn't even anything that was funny.
"I don't think I ever heard someone of a lower rank than me call me weak, at least to my face. You got guts.
She reached for her pack, but stopped herself remembering that she was still out. That soldier was going to be reminded on punctuality. To keep her hands occupied Nana crossed her arms over her chest. The mission sounded like a clean-up job, she would have to bring Carmen along, if the Ensign wasn't already there.
"My Ensign should be on her way there. She'll be able to take out the thugs as well."

Nana thought for a moment. She should probably warn the officer about Carmen's words from earlier. She may be sadistic, but it wouldn't be good or wise to have the swords-woman kill a marine in that cold of blood.
"I'll warn you now. The woman who is going to be accompanying on this mission is pretty cold. If she thinks you're in her way she will kill you. I'm pretty messed up in the head and even I think she's a little crazy. Just... be careful out there."
Relaxing her arms to her sides, she turned and began walking away from him, towards the bar where the thugs were. She did really hope that they could provide at least a good challenge for her.

As Jack told her his honest opinion, the woman laughed. She then covered her mouth in order to stop laughing."I don't think I ever heard someone of a lower rank than me call me weak, at least to my face. You got guts." Jack frowned, but agreed with her to some extent. He would be irritated if someone of lower rank than him called him weak. The truth was, he wasn't weak. Well, to some extent. Jack is definitely stronger than his fellow ranked officers, but he was pretty slow and not that great with hitting things. But, when he hit, he hit hard. Especially with his weapon.. the sword-guitar.

Jack patted the guitar on his back. This fine instrument doubled as a large sword, and boy did it have a story. But.. that's something for another time. He looked up at the woman; she seemed to be looking for something. Probably cigarettes, Jack figured. He smirked very faintly when she couldn't find any and gave up, crossing her arms. He hated smoking, especially when someone smoked in front of him. Finally, the woman said something else.

"My Ensign should be on her way there. She'll be able to take out the thugs as well." Jack nodded, that would make three. Three was a good enough number. Jack walked past her, heading to the bar. "Alright then, let's-" He began to say, before he stopped. The Lieutenant appeared to be thinking about saying something. She finally spoke up. "I'll warn you now. The woman who is going to be accompanying on this mission is pretty cold. If she thinks you're in her way she will kill you. I'm pretty messed up in the head and even I think she's a little crazy. Just... be careful out there."

This caused Jack to stop in his tracks. At first, he was a little bit scared. It quickly turned to anger. He clenched his fists and teeth. This was the one thing he hated about the Marines; those who killed for no good reason. People like that deserved to be locked up in Impel Down. Corruption in the Marines was the only thing that, at first, stopped Jack from signing up. He would rather be a pirate than a Marine who has no remorse in killing their allies.

Jack watched as the Lieutenant headed for the bar, walking past him. He was still enraged by what he had been told. Hearing things like that always got him extremely riled up. This had a pro and a con; if he stayed angry by the time they encountered the thugs, he would fight with some extra energy. On the other hand, the anger would also likely hinder him from cooperating with this Ensign. But not co-operating would just give her a reason to attack Jack. Jack collected himself by pulling out his guitar and playing a good old song while heading for the bar with the Lieutenant.

Carmen stopped just outside the abandoned bar. A soldier with a pack of cigarettes told her this is where the thugs were holding up. No doubt Nana would be here soon with, whatever the heck she was bringing. Whoever it was going to be, they better not get in her way. Lazily she rested her katana on her shoulders, placing her free hand against her hip. She looked the place up and down, nothing too special and no obvious traps. These thugs were small time, highly doubt they would even match with her.
"What is taking her so long?"

After she asked herself that question Carmen spotted two figures approaching. The person on the left was definitely Nana, though she didn't have a cigarette. But who, or what, was walking next to her? Even from a distance Carmen could tell the man was weak. Just by looking at his weird arms and by the fact he seemed way too overconfident about all this. With almost robotic like movement she unsheathed her sword, placing the sheath on the ground.
"I see we have an Officer with us. Oh goodie." Her voice completely monotone.

"I see we have an Officer with us. Oh goodie."
Nana was used to Carmen's monotone voice. She stopped next to her ensign and looked at the building. It was a good size building to hold four to five thugs inside. Hopefully there was enough room to fight inside, or she'd have to take it to the streets.
"I want you to play nice Carmen. These are orders from Admiral Jade herself. I want no trouble from you, got that?"

While during most missions Nana let Carmen run wild, this time had to be different. The ensign wouldn't hesitate to kill Jack if he was accidentally in her way. She didn't want to have to get between them, she was good, not that good to take on both of them and five thugs. Besides he was the first Officer to purposely call her weak and try to offend her. He gained some of her respect from that move alone.
"Na na, let's get this over with."

With a calm exterior Nana walked up to the door. Lifting her fist she knock three times before lifting her leg and kicking the door in. The resounding bang of it making contact with the wall. She reached into her pocket and grabbed the empty cigarette carton. Sighing as she remember the soldier still hadn't brought her a new one. She crumpled up the carton and threw it into the nearest trash. Jack was right there was roughly four thugs in this bar, however why Jade wanted this done was beyond her. They looked like everyday purse snatcher.
"No one came to the door when I knocked. Thought I'd let myself and my friends in."

By the time they had reached the bar, Jack had composed himself more. He didn't want to seem too overconfident or weak when they arrived at the bar with the Ensign. Unfortunately, this appeared to not work. The Ensign was watching him as he approached her. Her look was.. cold. Was she always like this? The Ensign pulled out her sword and dropped her sheath on the ground.

"I see we have an Officer with us. Oh goodie."\

The way this woman talked was extremely plain, and very straight forward. It seemed to fit with everything else; a cold, monotone woman who had no remorse in killing marines. She was like.. a machine. Jack said nothing to her, giving her a blank stare. At times like this he almost completely zoned out. This wasn't the first time he had met a higher-ranking officer who was.. "harsh".

"I want you to play nice Carmen. These are orders from Admiral Jade herself. I want no trouble from you, got that?"

Jack raised his eyebrows at this. Orders from an Admiral..? This was certaintly a unique position. He also found out this Ensign's name.. Carmen. That's not exactly the name he would have picked for her. He would have picked something a little more crude.

Before he knew it, there was a loud bang. Jack looked around, wondering what it was. He looked and saw the Lieutenant, who had just kicked open the door. Jack figured that he must have been thinking too hard to have noticed what was going on. He got closer to the door, in hopes of being the second one in. He wanted to prove that he wasn't weak to both of the Marines he was with. From inside the building, there was rustling and
shouting. The thugs were probably collecting themselves, not ready for such an out-of-the-blue attack. Jack headed in the building, hoping to get them before they could get completely ready. Jack's strength would finally be tested on something other than a punching bag.

Carmen silently walked in as the last one in. She walked to the side to keep from blocking the door. The thugs stood there after they seemingly hid whatever they were doing. Her sword slid from her shoulders and was placed at her side again. Carefully she judged their opponents for a weapon, the one farthest left was holding a pipe. Fixing her eyes on that man the ensign lowered herself a little before charging at him, making the first move. The sword made an upward slicing, cutting the pipe he was holding.
"Crap." The thug said with a rough voice.
"Completely weak." Her voice like ice.

From her peripheral vision Carmen saw the other men start to move to attack. Her opponent finally collected himself again and moved into a striking distance. She gave him a cold smirk and struck him. Giving him two cuts on his chest, in the shape of an X. He fell to the floor gurgling.

The lieutenant groaned as the Ensign made the first move. That woman was so impatient sometimes. She watched as the sword easily cut through the pipe, but the thugs were quickly going onto the attack. Especially after Carmen gave him a horrifying wound that probably killed the man.
Nana got into attack mode quickly as a thug went to Carmen's back. She kicked him in his side, knocking him to the ground.

"I want one alive to question." She told the other two.

The same man she kicked got back up and swung his fist. Ducking below it she kneed him in his stomach. He went back to the ground as the wind got knocked out of him. Straightening she was already panting. Great this is what smoking got her, out of breath with still three thugs ready to fight and one about to get back up. If she got some good information from one of these thugs she would give up smoking, at least give up smoking a whole pack a day. She'll go down to at least two smokes, wasn't that crazy to go cold turkey yet.

Dodging another swing she kicked this one back. Nana was contemplating using her devil fruit, but it would hurt her pride more if she had to rely on it for just some purse snatchers.

"Hey Jack, show me what got." She told him not taking her eyes off her opponent.
