Markad sat at the table in the bar sipping ale, thinking about how in the world he could make some money, and maybe in the process get some crew members after all he needed both if he wanted to get to the grandline. He had just finished his glass when he saw a little girl off to the side of the room speaking to a large pirate. He was sure he heard her say something about shipwreak island and something about people being stuck there but it wasnt his place to step in. The big pirate she was talking to stood up and laughed " You'll draw me a map and i"ll steal the treasure from the people stuck there, were pirates we dont need to help anyone". His crew around the table laughed with him. The little girl looked terrified as the pirate stepped forward to grab her, she looked too scared to move, that is until wood shot up from the bar table and tied his hands. "What the hell", the pirate yelled, his crew scrambled up to help him, "get this off of me". The little girl looked around confused not sure of what was happening, when she met Markads eyes he winked at her and gestured for her to come over. She walked over still in a daze, Now why dont you tell me what the problem is and i thought i heard him say something about treasure. Ten minutes later he had a map the girl had drawn for him and he was walking towards the port of the island, thinking about the girls warning, i dont have to worry too much he thought, after all i have a small ship narrow enough to make it through the reef and well if it gets damanged i can do afew repairs. He laughed to himself as he created a ball of wood that floated above his hand. He was still laughing as he got onto his ship, and unfolded the sail, sighing he laid back and twirled his index finger, the rudder moving with the same motion making his ship turn. He laughed as he made oars apper from the sides of the boat and started rowing by themselves, it tired him out alittle bit but it would get him there quicker, which ment helping the people there quicker, and also getting his treausre quicker. John sat atop a stool by the bar. He was sipping a glass of milk, not wanting to impair his judgment for the sailing to come. He had stood listening to the pirates bashful behavior for sometime, and when the wee girl came in to state her concerns, she was given quite the hard time. John wasn't going to stand for it, that lass needed someone to stand up for her. "Bastards I'll show them a thing or two..." The fighting had stopped before John could even get up. It seems as if someone else had been more attentive to the situation than him. To his amazement, wood flew out of no where to restrain the pirates hands. That had to be the work of a devil fruit. This was getting interesting. "Now why dont you tell me what the problem is, and i thought i heard him say something about treasure" The man over yonder spoke just loud enough for John to effectively eaves drop. He was rather surprised that the girl would reluctantly trust a stranger; especially one who had some strange power. Perhaps she did not know better, after all she was just little, though her desperation may have been the underlying reason for asking strange folk for help. He listened in for the rest of the conversation, and soon after made his own way towards the dock. Before leaving however, he payed the bartender and ordered a few jugs of milk for the road. That bar served damn good milk, he would of been an idiot not to of gotten more. John made a resolve to help these poor people out. Maybe if he played the role of a good guy he'd get a bigger reward. Perhaps even find out the origin of that guys power. He kept close to the man, not wanting to have him disappear from John's sight. John's plan was to tail the strangers boat till they reached Shipwreck island. He hopped aboard his own ship, which was fortunately docked near his target of interest, and got to prepping the ship for take off as fast as possible. His ship was larger so it took longer to start up. By the time he was on the open sea, his guide was just visible on the horizon. Perhaps this was better so that his stalking would go unnoticed, where as if he was closer his presence may of been detected. Edited by Rupert, Jan 22 2011, 11:09 AM.

Smoke lazily floated from her mouth to fade into the tavern. Her attention was on the men harassing the small girl asking for help. Really, she called the trouble onto herself, pirates never help anyone but themselves. But even so, the girl probably didn't know better and it wasn't in her to see someone innocent get hurt. Her body was about to slide of her stool when she noticed wood had trapped the man's hands. The cigarette almost fell from her lips, the girl looked confused as she was. It seemed the girl found someone else when she walked over to another man. Knowing this place she guessed he was also a pirate. Watching his mouth move she couldn't anything he was saying, but it didn't matter since he left shortly after. Nana took a final drag before snuffing the smoke in an ash tray. Another man, with a weird mask followed out the door. She smirked, guessing exactly where he was going. "Barkeep! Where's the nearest boat shop?" The barkeep came over to her, he was carefully wiping a glass clean. "On the far left of the port, you can't miss him. But his boats don't come cheap." he said. She just smiled and lighted another cigarette with her match. Without saying another word she left the tavern and went towards the port. She got there in little time and began searching for the shop. The barkeep wasn't lying when he said she wouldn't miss it. The place was small, but there were countless boats and small ships docked in front of it. Approaching the shop she looked around for anyone who worked there. not seeing anyone she made her way to the nearest boat. It was roughly the size of a normal fishing boat, it would do for the time being. Checking her surroundings one last time Nana hopped into the boat and untied it from it's dock. Unfurling the sail she caught the wind. Another boat caught her eye, flying a pirate flag. "Na na, looks like a clock. I'll keep my eye on that." She told herself. "Hey! Bring my boat back!" Nana turned her head and spotted what must've been the shop owner. She almost laughed at herself. Quickly she waved, talking to him would give away her position and she didn't want to be spotted by the ship. She made a mental note to pay him generously when she got back. Her eyes went back on the ship she was following. "Na na, let's get this party started." |

When Markad first set off from port he was in a great mood with the thoughts of treasure fresh in his mind, it didnt even sour when he looked back to see a ship behind him on the horrizen. Although he wasnt sure if it was coming after him or not, after all it just set out from port it could be going anywhere, he didnt want to take any chances so he had made more oars and made them move faster. It hadn't taken long till he had lost sight of the ship but that was when things took a turn for the worst. After keeping that pace up he had started to get tired, and now he was in a horrible mood. Not 5 minutes ago he went down into his store rooms and found them empty, someone had taken all the food from his ship while he was on the island, he was hungry and tired and alone, all in all it sucked. Something needed to change for him, so he made a desperate choice he lowered his sails and waited and hoped the ship he seen had been following him. It didnt take too long for it to catch up which surprised him greatly, he only waited twenty minutes maybe less, when the ship came over the horizon, he started to lowered his pirates flag to try and show that he didnt mean any harm, grabbed his staff from where it was laying and put an empty sac over his shoulder, normally if he was going onto another ship or going to an island without a town he would bring a small bit of food and water but there was no chance of that this time, normally he didnt like to talk to people too much until he got to know them but he knew he'd have to, after all he was going to try and get this group to help him, he'd agree to split the treasure its not like he was greedy he just needed money. The ship looks normal enough except for the sail and the flag is rather normal too except for the skulls eyes and mouth, interesting About five minutes later the ship was beside him and stopping. He stared at it for a minute it was atleast 3 times the size of his ship it had to be, it looked like the kind of ship he hoped to own soon, but not before he got a crew and not before he made it too the grandline. A'hoy permission to come aboard, he was answered with only silence. My names Markad, im a pirate and im friendly ive run out of supplies and i could use some help, i'm on my way to get some treasure if you let me aboard i'll give you and your crew equal shares, may i come aboard. Still silence, except he thought heard "cuckoo cuckoo", he was starting to get alittle annoyed. "Alright im coming on, and i repeat i mean no harm." He made some wooden steps up to the other ship until he knew he could jump up, he hoped no one on the ship would see the steps and he'd impress them alittle. He hit the deck staff at the ready not sure if he was completely welcome, he saw a man standing a few feet away looking at him wearing some kind of weird star mask. "Ummm hey." Markad said lamely, "nice mask." |

OOC: I'm guessing you're rather new to rp'ing Tempus but you can't control my character like that. It's my decision where my ship goes as well as where I'm positioned on my ship. It is also my choice whether I remain silent or reply at all to your dialogue. Taking control of my character is considered "god modding" and against the rules. I'll let it slide this time but please don't do it again. John was having trouble keeping up with whom he was pursuing. He wasn't exactly the best navigator, and manning a large ship by himself, while attempting to follow a speedy ship, proved to be far more difficult than anticipated. He at one point lost sight of the fellow pirate which made John frantic. "Arghh, damn that bastard! He disappeared just when I took my eyes off o' him! And it was only for a second too!" John had not been paying close attention to where he was sailing, and would be lost otherwise if it weren't for a speck fading in and out on the horizon. I guess it was his lucky day. Thank goodness too, he had been sailing now for quite some time, and to of wasted this much energy and effort only to of had to return home empty handed would be absurd. John let go of the steering wheel, as it was headed in the appropriate direction. The ship he had followed to this point had slowed down, seemingly almost to a complete stop. Something must of happened... He decided it best to see if the man was alright. He had been making such good progress to only stop so unexpectedly. Not to mention he had the map John needed, which would lead him to Shipwreck Island. Before long John was unfurling the sails so that his ship would stop right beside the other vessel. Once it reached a complete stop, he neared the railing to see if the man needed assistance. Unfortunately, the wind had temporarily deafened his ears (>_<). A rather rare occurrence; especially considering he was wearing a mask which should of protected his noggin. He missed what the man was saying, and his hearing only came back to him once the fellow boarded his ship. "Ummm hey. nice mask." John stepped back, surprised by this pirates sudden appearance. He had been too busy lamenting over his sudden lack of hearing that he had been oblivious to what had been happening around him. "How did you get aboard my ship? What do you want?" He remembered the "incident" from before, and knew this guy had some weird devil fruit power. It wouldn't be too wise to start a fight for no reason. Though, it would be kind of fun to spar against him later. But it was not the time nor the place for that. It was quite unnerving, but a chill had clutched John for a while now. In fact, an ominous mist was engrossing a large span of the ocean just west of where they were. John did not know for sure, but it would be a pretty good guess to say that Shipwreck Island was in that direction. Now that he was in the midst of the man who held the map to his desire, hopefully his plan would run a little more smoothly. Besides, if he were to team up with this guy, it would keep him company. The notion of venturing into that mist, if that truly was where Shipwreck Island lay, was rather frightening though John's pride would never allow him to express these feelings aloud. Nana furled her sail when she noticed the ship coming to a complete stop by another ship. She sighed, at the rate this was going, traveling by herself was going to take too long. Snuffing her third cigarette she pulled out her matches, to find that she used them all. "Oh look an excuse to go on the ship." She told herself. She did a check of her smoke supply just in case as well. It'd be her luck if she was already out of those too. Finding a good five perfectly conditioned cigarettes she decided it was time to pay the pirate ship a visit. With her sail already furled Nana waited for the current to slowly bring her close to the side of the ship. Backing up she gave a running start to vault herself from the rail of her boat. Planting her foot on the side of the ship she pushed herself up higher to grab the rail with her hand, flipping herself over and onto the deck. Rolling her left shoulder a bit, it had been awhile since she did much of anything. She was probably fat too, ugh that would be horrible. Taking a glance around she found two men, well one looked like a man, the other however. Another sigh escaped her lips, she always gets the weird looking ones. At least this guy looked normal besides the mask. "Excuse me. Any of you have a light?" As she walked up to them she placed a cigarette to rest lazily on her lips. It seemed the man with the staff was the one with the way to wherever the girl needed him to go. If Nana could wiggle her way into a group with him she could get to that treasure and help the little girl as well. but would they be on par with her or slow her down? The masked man, from at least what she saw had nothing to him, but it wasn't like either of them had a chance to show their power earlier. She decided to watch these two carefully, them being pirates she'd have a perfect chance to bring them in. "Na na, I believe we're heading the same direction. It'd probably be a lot easier if we all work together." She told them. |

"How did you get aboard my ship? What do you want?" Markad looked at the man deciding excatly what to say, he didnt like talking alot around people he was meeting for the first time, he'd try to sum it up in as few words as possible. I got a map to some treasure and people need help, i'll split it with you if you go with me and share some provisions. Markad hoped this guy was understanding and would help him, or atleast give him a few provisions enough for him to live on for atleast a day or two. It looked like the man was about to answer and he was just starting to think that there wouldnt be any complications when he heard. "Excuse me. Any of you have a light?" Markad looked at the women who had miraculously appered on the deck, he started to get alittle nervous, new people always made him nervous but now he just smiled, someone else might be here to help. |

I got a map to some treasure and people need help, i'll split it with you if you go with me and share some provisions. John was surprised by the man simply telling him that he knew where a treasure was located. Sure John already knew but the man did not know this. For crying out loud John had a pirate flag, for all he knew John's ship could of held a hundred blood thirsty pirates. It seemed to John that this guy did not think ahead, but maybe he was just too honest for his own good. Or, perhaps he was desperate for provisions and so had no other choice. Before John could make a reply someone had cut him short. "Excuse me. Any of you have a light?" John spun around, clearly confound by the woman who had, like Markad, appeared out of no where. John almost choked on his own tongue; this woman was quite the looker. He was clueless to how he should deal with this situation. A mysterious man and a pretty young lady. John would be a lot more reluctant to having the girl tag along, rather then the man who to an extent creep-ed him out. But, John was not a greedy man, and would prefer the company rather than to horde all the treasure for himself. "Na na, I believe we're heading the same direction. It'd probably be a lot easier if we all work together." "Very well milady, we shall all work together. I'm John Hawkins, of the Clockwork pirates! Don't either of you forget it haha!" Johns spirits rose as he would not have to fair this journey in solitude. He leaned forward snapping his fingers creating a small flame on the tip of his index finger. To his own amusement, John reared his finger towards the ladies face in order to light her cigarette. Incidentally, a huge gust of wind came hurling towards John's boat. It caught him off guard and he stumbled towards the woman's chest. Miraculously John's ship was moving on its own towards the heavy mists not to far away from where they were. A deep voice then resonated from where they were being directed. "Enter if you DARE!" Edited by Rupert, Jan 29 2011, 03:08 PM.

"Very well milady, we shall all work together. I'm John Hawkins, of the Clockwork pirates! Don't either of you forget it haha!" Nana felt the need to smile at his declaration. Oh this day was just getting better and better by the minute. She blinked as she saw a flaming finger close to her face. Her lips spread to a smirking smile, but a wind blew hard and the ship jerked. Crap! She lost balance, falling a little backwards. The masked man, John also was slowly jerked forward, towards her... Quickly she placed a hand on his chest and a hand on the floor. While her strength wasn't the best, she could hopefully keep them both upright. Even in this, compromising situation, her mouth curled up to a slight smile. Don't worry, I won't forget you John. I'm Nana Corgi, Lieutenant of the Marines." Nana used her speed to roll out from under John and back on her feet. Pulling the cigarette from her mouth she noticed that the flame had nicked it before they fell. She open her mouth to say something... "Enter if you DARE!" The ship started moving on it's own towards the mist. The voice sent a chill down her spine, great more weirdness. "I'm guessing jumping ship is not an option now." |

"Very well milady, we shall all work together. I'm John Hawkins, of the Clockwork pirates! Don't either of you forget it haha!" Well atleast i know his name now, and that answers my question as to whether or not he'll work with me, but this women gives me a strange feeling. Markad didnt know what it was but there was something about the women that made him uneasy. He wasnt sure but it looked like a flame had appered above johns fingers before he could find out for sure wind caught the ship and he stumbled sideways abit before catching himself, he watched as the women fell backwards and john looked like he was going to fall ontop of her, she planted herself on the floor and held him up. Don't worry, I won't forget you John. I'm Nana Corgi, Lieutenant of the Marines." Oh a marine and a lieutenant none the less, thats just great now im teamed up with a marine how could it get worse. He took small satisfaction in the fact that he hadnt given his name yet, no one had asked and he was too shy to just say it, and well he wasnt sure what he thought of these people yet. "Enter if you DARE!" The voice made every hair on his body stand on end, it sent chills down his whole body, he was alittle worried. Well that definately makes things worse. The ship was moving now, toward the mist and he could only assume toward the voice. "I'm guessing jumping ship is not an option now." Markad tilted his head down and smiled to himself. Well atleast she has a sense of humor. Markad would have been content to not speak up again but his stomach growled and reminded him just how hungry he was. He coughed to bring attention to himself. I hate to ask but i havent eaten in awhile and im really hungry, if were going to team up i want to be at my best and after hearing what ever that was im think im going to need my full strength. He felt awkward for asking but he really needed food. And i'd also like to point out that if missy there is a marine we should all strike a deal before she tries to bring us in, but thats just my opinion after all we are a team now. He hoped they could make a decision the ship seemed to be getting closer to the mist as he talked and if his guess was right they would really need to work together and trust each other when they got there. |
