So we've decided a rule, if you've been trained by someone who was specifically raider, you're your own defender. So this means for example, Earth is the first of her generation of defenders.

If a subject was trained by someone not specifically raider, their mentor should be mentioned on the tree as an ancient root, but for the purposes of determining how far back ones's "defenders" roots go back to, its back to the last person who in the line, calls themselves a defender.

This has the effect of governing why Biyah who was trained by Halmont who was trained by Commercial Affairs, shall be referred to as belonging to the House of Halmont, even though we can trace back the line to CA. You see with ancient lines, there is a full disintegration of the R/D lines, eventually at one time there was no R/D game. CA should still be put on the defender tree, but with an asterisk as only mentioned as a historical note.

Our reasoning being, CA is mostly regarded as an imperialist and a tyrant of TWP; although no clue if Biyah would find that as an amusing lineage :P , others will also be put under that house and I think I'd like to try to keep the houses somewhat defender-pedigree, so everyone can be proud of them.

Eluvatar is self-taught and should be referred to as originating his own, House of Eluvatar.

Factually accurate, anyway. The Atlantic Alliance was the original raiding group (before the D/R game), that spawned groups like the ADN. I'm not sure I'd call them Tyrants of TWP though, as the opposition was worse than we were. Think about it this way, Kurdizistan started opposite of the AA in TWP, so did Haclyon (no, not misspelled).

In the end, it was a coup, though. And the AA were out to take over the Pacifics.

I really got started in defended due to an invader organization called Blue Moon. A UN Multi we called "the A Team multi" invaded a Dutch-language region (Pallas Athene, despite its name it was Dutch) and the region Holland/Nederland forces jumped in to defend the region while we waited for mod-bombs to take care of the rule-breaking multi. At that time we were only looking after Dutch-language regions, no more. That went ok, but then folks from Blue Moon jumped in and tried to take the place over. It's then that we realized invaders had to be fought more broadly, and so I started doing that. Solo, just jumping in left and right helping defenders out while not being part of any defending group. That's a bit of an extra challenge, BTW: not only having to spot invaders, but also the defenders acting against them and then determining when it is good to jump in and help out. That line of play would be as good as impossible these days.

The folks at GLA noticed me jumping around and helping out, and after a thorough security screening invited me to join their ranks. AFAIK, the entire GLA group was self-thought, just defenders helping each other out without any training program whatsoever. This was spring 2003, so lot's of people were just figuring stuff out for themselves by themselves. There was no group of 'elders' to fall back on at all.

I did fill in the role as GLA's most technical player: I used to perform all sorts of tests to figure out in detail how the update mechanism worked. Being a RL software engineer helped, since I would determine likely data storage and coding from observed behavior (that's called 'reverse engineering').
