Are we finding out whether AD was self-taught or not? Or do we know he was?

EDIT: Looks like Jesioneka was AD's mentor.

Main Nation Name: Mendanau
Organizations You Are/Were A Part Of: Alliance Defense Network, Atlantic Alliance, OSA, The Meritocracy
Who Trained You: Myself

My nation resided in Alcatraz. Vazquez, the UN Delegate at the time, was the one who invited to join. Little would I know how much that invitation would change my NS life. A nation by the name of Band Leaders gained control of Alcatraz after Vazquez went on vacation. I believe his marauders voted him into the UN delegacy. Anyway, Band Leaders ejected most of the nations in Alcatraz and locked the region.

Myself and several others fought to regain control of the region. We made contacts throughout the NS community for help and support. Unknowingly, we were recruiting allies who would eventually join a new defender alliance group. But I digress. After a couple of weeks, Vazquez returned and we managed to reinstate him as delegate. Band Leaders and his cronies were promptly ejected.

Vazquez thanked those who participated in getting him back in power. He and I bounced emails back and forth for a couple of weeks after, laying down plans for an intelligence gathering group. We wanted to make sure Alcatraz would never fall again. Our original name, which was actually my mistake, was the Alliance Intelligence Agency. It was meant to be the Alcatraz Intelligence Agency. Anyway, Vazquez named me director and with all of my recent contacts, I went out and recruited members.

As the AIA began to expand, Vazquez and I decided it was time to launch a full-on defender organization. It would be an alliance of regions whose delegates would govern the alliance as a whole. It was a political and military organization inspired by the Atlantic Central Command actually. Vazquez named me the Alliance Defense Network's first director, and he became its first president.

During those early months, we realized we had gathered some of the best, brightest minds in Nation States. However, we honestly had no idea how long this alliance would last. I wrote the ADN's covert operations manifesto, as well as much of the ADN's early guidelines and hierarchy.

Around this time, the Atlantic was beginning to stir. Vazquez and I were both curious, as we knew the ACC's history. We wondered what their plan was. So it was decided, in secret, to insert a covert operative into Atlantic and follow their progress. I volunteered.

I spent a good deal of time in Atlantic, and rose through the ranks. In realizing that my time was getting more and more limited, I retired from the ADN and named Pope Hope as my successor. I don't know a whole lot about the course of the ADN afterward.

Eventually, New People figured out who I was and I was ousted from Atlantic.

I created a new covert operations outfit called the OSA. I did not have the same success though and within a couple of months, I disbanded the group. This was, I believe, right around the time the ADN and Atlantic began to clash? I found myself out of the loop.

Fell in with the Meritocracy for a while; first as a senator and over time became the head of their intelligence group (I forgot my title there). By this time, NS was taking a back seat to life. I retired from the Meritocracy and from the game.

Today I still keep Mendanau and Bircheshire Isle alive, but purely for nostalgic purposes.

Anyway, my name is Phoenix.

It's an honour to meet you, Phoenix. I've masked you with the "Director" masking, since I gave Pope Hope a similar masking -- the masking is residue from an April Fool's Joke where we pretended the UDL was changing its name to the "ADN Reborn". :P

The ADN is still legend to this day and I guess from all of the boys here at the UDL, we have to say thank you for the great post and also thank you for the humbling visit!

Main Nation Name: The Blaatschapen
Organizations You Are/Were A Part Of: Allied Liberation League, Alliance Defense Network, United Defender League (this is in chronological order, I started out as an ALLer)
Who Trained You:

Military: Self-taught / Free4All (he was known in the defender world as that back then, so I'm sticking with that. No house of Ballotonia for me :p) / #ADN channel

Intelligence: Can't disclose :P

It's a tricky thing. I started out on my first mission with the famous puppetmaster attack on TNP. My main contact for that was definitely F4A. Then I got involved in the ALL. And somewhere along the way I learned stuff. No real formal training was done to the best of my knowledge. I just wrote F4A, but also other dutchies and ALLers of that time might have helped out a bit with the training.

Nai was trained by Westwind, according to her. She says Equilism's mentorship is sort of vague, but Westwind is sort of the best choice.

I couldn't take credit for Harmoneia. Ask Chin-Chillas - his lot basically trained themselves.

EuroSoviets
ADN, Mass Alliance, RLA
Crazy Girl trained me.

NewTexas is self-taught, also.

So Chin-Chillas is saying he was taught by Broughdom, now. So I've tg'd Broughdom -- I expect a reply to take a while, if we get one, he's very inactive.

Chin-Chillas says he can't take credit for Harmoneia, but he suggested I should talk to The Merlion and Arfon from the ADN.
