Romanoffia says Tresville was a major mentor for him; Tresville began in the NPA in Dec. 2003 and shortly after he joined the ADN in the early Vasquez days.

Sorry for taking a while.

I can't be sure about Harm either. She was a defender when I joined Jethnea but was never a hardcore defender (being a player very involved in the feeders, especially Laz, and the Met) in her NS life.

As for myself...

Main Nation Name: TM
Defender Organizations You Are/Were A Part Of: Jethnea, Equilism, TWP Defence Force, FRA, TITO, TYW (the last two as allied commander of sorts - honorary membership of sorts, lol) and many others that I can't remember.
Who Trained You*: Self taught methinks. Also wrote a manual while in Jethnea. If I have to pick one, it may well be Stoned Smurfs since he was one of the first that I went on missions with.

Harmoneia hung out with a lot of us RLA types; he might have been with us.

I am Blackbird, of the Proletariat Coalition. I was in the Marxist Anarcho-Syndicalist Socialist Alliance (MASS), which became the Red Liberty Alliance. I was also in the Alliance Defense Network in many of its various incarnations.

My region, the Proletariat Coalition was invaded one day by what we thought was a branch of the Atlantic Alliance. It wasn't; it was actually Galts Gulch Lair of Ayn Rand (home of the AntiCommiClan and someone else whose name I can't remember, but he was a Meritocratic Senator eventually). My region, along with the Allied States of Euroislander and my comrade Eurosoviets formed the MASS alliance, along with AoSS, Anarchy and other regions.

My military was "self-taught" under these definitions, as I learned many of my initial military skills as a spy in the Atlantic Alliance, in Division 1 under Raptor during the time when Thomasia/Acceslior had just given up power to New People/Mammothistan/Novus Homines. I also self-taught my intelligence skills.

I mentored many. In areas of diplomacy and politics, Moo-Cows and Dilber in the ADN were two of my more notable people. The Red Factions, Ketoprofen, ParanoidM in the RLA are some notable ones that come to mind, among many many others. The RLA people I really only mentored in intel; Eurosoviets and Xha'dam mentored for military.

Pheonix: your name in the Meritocracy was Mendenau.

It's my recollection that a lot of the FRA people: CC and (Lanna? What was her name?) were mentored by some RLA folk, but I might not be remembering correctly.

Yes, it seems to me that FRA has a lot of roots with the RLA, which I wasn't originally aware of. If I'd pick a few areas that the UDL seems to gravitate from it would be Belgian Defenderism and the former E-Army.

Thank you for the great post. :)

The RLA always found common friendship with all defenders, but particularly those who were disillusioned with the ADN's brand of bureaucracy and the somewhat cultish following of Pope Hope. The FRA were always kind of cowboy types, or that's how I viewed them (and I say that as a positive thing). They wanted to defend, and not deal with the politics. Since the ADN, particularly Unistrut, in those days, was flinging crap all over us, we usually attracted defenders who were disillusioned with them.

Despite my own personal views, the RLA was also more pro-NPO than the ADN, which also attracted the younger generation of defenders who didn't hold the diehard anti-NPO views that many of the Belgian defenders who came out of the GLA did (in part due to Crazygirl's influence as a native in the pre-Francos Spain era).
