Having decided not to question his poor student any further, Dimitri gently led her across the school grounds, into the castle-of-a-building, down many a corridor, and, finally, into the Infirmary. He guided her to a nearby bed and, when he was sure she was sitting down and in no danger of falling from a dizzy spell, the young teacher walked across the quiet room and spoke softly with a dark-haired nurse. She cast a concerned glance at the young girl, then returned her attention to the Romanian and nodded her head in understanding. Immediately, the nurse began collecting various items - clothes, bowls of water, towels - as Dimitri crossed the room once again to speak with Jessica. "I hope you do not mind, Miss Murphy," he began softly, "But I must leave for a few minutes to speak with the Headmistress. Fear not, though, for I leave you in this kind nurse's hands-" He gestured to said woman as she approached Jessica's bed, "-I shall return shortly to see how you are faring." With a reassuring smile, Dimitri stood to his full height, having leaned over slightly while talking with Jessica, and proceeded out the Infirmary doors. Hopefully he could get a majority of the explaining over beforehand so his self-sacrificing student could escape with as few questions directed towards her as possible. |

Jessica followed her teacher across the grounds, and through the school into an area she had never seen. She recognized that the room they walked into had to be the Infirmary. Dimitri-sensei led to her to a bed, then left when she sat down. As he spoke with one of the nurses on the other side of the room, Jessica looked around. It looked pretty much like a hospital. White everywhere: white beds, white clothes, white curtains. Jessica was terrified of hospitals, and she wasn't sure why. Though still scary, the Infirmary had a more cozy atmosphere. It was almost tolerable. Dimitri-sensei came back and told her he was going to speak with the Headmistress. She nodded, and he left, the nurse quickly taking his place next to Jessica. "Here, dear, lay yourself down," she directed, gently pushing Jessica until she layed back on the bed. "I'm Marlee, and I'll be here to help you. Now let me see this..." she demanded, brushing Jessica's hair to the sides and peering closely at the bite marks on her neck. She shook her head, "I don't know what you've gotten yourself into, but it was not the best thing for a tiny thing like you to do!" Jessica watched as the robust lady puttered around, checking her pulse, blood pressure, breathing, and other things. "I feel fine," she said softly, "I don't need to be here." "Fine! You're as white as a sheet, Miss! You're staying under my custody until I say so! Now, get out of those soaking clothes, you don't need a cold on top of being drained!" She helped Jessica stand up, then led her to the bathroom, so she could change. Jessica walked in and looked at what she had been handed. Of course, white, she thought, disgusted. She felt like she was putting on a sheet to be a ghost for Halloween. That was back before Ghosts really existed... At least to her. When she came out, the nurse took her clothes and they disappeared somewhere. She then led Jessica back to the bed and had her lay back on some pillows, so she was not laying straight, but almost sitting. "Here, now drink this water. No hurry, but it will help you feel better. Let me know if you need anything else." Then she was off tending to someone a few beds down. Jessica looked at the cup in her hands and grimaced a little - water tastes so bad! |

Nami had just walked past the infirmary, not knowing the girl inside's predicament. She was walking slowly savoring the nice sunny day, perhaps she should go outside. She didn't get out often and it would be simply delightful if she did. The kids that were outside looked like they were enjoying themselves. Some sitting comfortably, talking with friends. Others had some kind of sports equipment out and were running about the courtyard. She even saw a few studious students reading out in the warm glow of the sun. Her bright red hair shined in the light from the windows as she heard some one close the door to the infirmary. She turned to see who it was, wondering what could possibly be going on in the infirmary. It was the 1-A teacher, Dimitri. She looked at the young man quizzically, wondering what he was doing away from his work. She actually half expected the teachers to be out and about today, seeing at how it was such a nice day. "Yes, Dimitri-chan," Nami asked. Her voice was soft and gentle, yet had authority. |

The twenty-two-year-old gently closed the doors to the Infirmary behind him. The gravity of the situation had not left him yet. Depending on how he and Jessica phrased their explanations, the fate of a young man could potentially be threatened. His punishment - or lack thereof - hung entirely on the two of them. From everything the teacher had gathered from his student, this case appeared to be more of an accident than anything else. Yes, the young man had probably known what he was doing, but perhaps the lack of blood clouded his judgment for a moment. Being as desperate as he might have been could have made him feel as though no alternative existed. Now he just had to communicate these beliefs to Nami. Turning now from the door, the Romanian paused in his step and nearly did a double-take. By some stroke of luck, Dimitri found the Headmistress just outside of the Infirmary! Here he had been expecting to walk down many corridors and staircases just to reach her office, but she stood just feet away! Perfect! With a calm aura still surrounding him, as it almost always did, the young man walked towards the awaiting woman. "I would desire a few moments of your time, Headmistress, that I may speak with you of matters of great urgency." He spoke softly. Even though he had checked the hallway as he approached Nami, Dimitri didn't want to chance another person overhearing their conversation. When he had her full attention, the young Romanian led her slightly off to the side of the corridor and continued. "It concerns one of my students, a young Jessica Murphy, by name. I happened across her less than half an hour ago as she sat by the lake. However, as I approached, for I had to pass by on my way back to the school, I noticed she seemed unusually pale. After asking her what happened, she finally confided in me a most shocking matter. It seems she saw a young man lying underneath a tree calling for help. Being the selfless girl I know her to be, she approached the young man to inquire if she could be of any assistance. When she was near enough, the young man attacked her and drained her of some blood. She, a water elemental, managed to escape by dousing him with lake water. She appears to be on the mend now, but she insists the young man not be punished. Though I have made different assumptions, Headmistress, in no way can I say who did this or why, so I ask we keep an open mind while handling this situation." Having finished most of his explanation (he would save his assumptions for a later time), he stood in silence and waited for her reaction. |

Nami listened intently to what Dimitri had to say. Her bright purple orbs gazed lazily at him. She was pretty mellow about the situation, however. "Dimitri-chan, I knew upon opening the school that someone may be attacked, on accident or on purpose. It was bound to happen, since we have so many vampires here. Someone was bound to get drained, possessed, etc. I believe that if the young girl is fine, then there is really no problem. I'll go back with you to check on her, see how her health fairs. Then get a description of the attacker, not for punishment purposes. I'll just give him one of those vials of blood I keep in my office and tell him that if he ever feels the sudden need to feed, to drink that up so he'd have time to go feed off campus," she explained with an understanding smile. The headmistress looked at the door to the infirmary and said, "Why don't we go ahead and check her out? I'm sure Marlee has her taken care of, but I just want to make sure she'll be alright." She started to turn towards that direction but waited before she walked to see if Dimitri wanted to object or to make a statement. |

For a moment, all the young teacher could do was stand in shock. The solution had been so simple, yet Dimitri had failed to see such an obvious answer. Perhaps he had seen to many alternate situations play through his mind to think of simply letting the student off with a smile. He had imagined a young man in desperate need of blood who saw no alternative to draining the next person who happened to walk by. He imagined having to plead the boy's case for him against a skeptical Headmistress. Never had he imagined a simple warning and an understanding smile! It seemed so obvious to him now that this course of action was indeed the optimal one to take. With a nod of his head, Dimitri kept his calm appearance and quietly followed Nami into the Infirmary. Once there, he smiled reassuringly at Jessica. Though he had no doubts about the quality of care she would receive here, Dimitri still found himself relieved to see she was being taken good care of. And how pleased she would be to learn of the young man's good fortune! He would be in no trouble at all, just as Jessica had wanted all along. "You seem to be looking much better all ready, Miss Murphy," he complimented with a smile. She'd heard so much bad news and seen so many worried looks that he felt a little encouragement was in order. |

Jessica obediently drank her water, in the tiniest sips possible, glaring at the cup after every other sip. It's so bland! When the water started to swirl in her cup, she nearly dropped it in fright! What did I do?! She took a deep breath, and the water stopped sloshing. Strange... the elemental thought. Just as she was about to try to make her water do something else, she heard a noise. Quickly, she began to innocently sip at the water while looking around. It had been the door that had opened. And there was the Headmaster and Dimitri-sensei! Jessica set her cup down on the stand by her bed as they approached. Her mind raced at lightspeed, What was I going to say? She ran over her plans in her head as Dimitri-sensei told her she was looking better. "Thank you," she mumbled, just barely loud enough to be heard. I find that awfully hard to believe... I didn't drink the water! Edited by Jessica Murphy, Tuesday Jan 26 2010, 01:51 AM.

Nami looked at the student. She did indeed look pale, but Dimitri's statement that she looked much better made Nami kind of worried. Although the student looked fine, other than the whole paleness, the student did look a bit worried. The headmistress sat down in a chair near the bed and crossed her legs. She wondered how the girl was feeling though she didn't ask. She wanted to get right to the point. That was her personality. "Ms. Jessica, was it? Dimitri informed me that you had been drained by a vampire student. I would like to ask you to describe the boy, if you can. I do not wish to punish him, since you were not killed by him. I simply wish to talk with him and give him something that may help this from happening in the future," Nami said calmly, knowing the girl would freak like Dimitri said if the girl thought the boy may be punished. The demoness leaned her head on her hand, her elbow propping her up.

Jessica was astounded. He's not going to get in trouble?! The Headmaster was quite different than Jessica had ever imagined, besides being a Headmistress, she was also very direct and seemd awfully kind. She didn't sound like she was lying, but Jessica was never good at seeing through lies. So the question is, do I trust her, and tell her? It was hard, she would feel horrible if the vampire got in trouble; that she had gone to help him and ended up hurting him would be devastating. I can still say no, she reminded herself, though there seemed no point, since it sounded like the Headmistress just wanted to help him as well. "I don't think...." Jessica began, then paused, not sure where she was going. She tried again, "I don't..." ...remember? Would they believe that? She just had a traumatic experience, that was totally plausible. Now that she thought about it, he was pale, and wearing black. That was all she really saw. There had to have been tons of vampires in the school that looked like that! Yes, that's what she would say! "Why hunt down this specific vampire? Why not give all of them whatever it is?" Jessica wondered out loud, her thoughts jumping from place to place. Her hands flew to her mouth as she gasped. Did I just say that out loud? Oh no! "Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean that!" she blurted out quickly, bowing to the Headmistress as much as she could while sitting. Edited by Jessica Murphy, Saturday Jan 30 2010, 03:37 AM.

"Well, I like to keep it hush hush that I'm chill about rules. I don't want everyone to think it's alright to break them. And it's quite alright, I find myself thinking aloud from time to time," Nami explained with a small smirk. She casually uncrossed her legs, switched them and closed her eyes. Maybe the demon should check out the scene of the crime, so to speak. That might give her something if Jessica couldn't. "Besides, if every vampire finds out I keep a small supply of vials of blood in my office, then I'll be depleted. And I also have to keep records of what every student has done, regardless of if I punish them or not," Nami chuckled, opening her purple eyes. They were cat like; sharp and keen. She then sighed and folded her hands in her lap. "If you do not remember what he looks like, then I'll have to see if I can find him myself," A feat not to difficult for myself, she added mentally, "and I'll leave you to heal." |

How could she find him? Jessica wondered, worrying again. Can she read my mind?! she thought, panicking. Instantly, her mind thought on everything she knew about the boy. He was tall, very pale, had black hair, was wearing black clothes, and was quite attractive. Blushing a little, she wiped out that last thought. She focused on the basics: complexion, hair, and clothes. Many vampires she had seen around the school looked exactly the same in those respects: pale with a lot of black. If the Headmistress could read her mind, hopefully she wouldn't be able to learn anything. But she's trying to help him... Still, she felt as if she would be betraying him to turn him in. Jessica looked to her teacher, back to the Headmistress, and then decided to volunteer the information she had just decided on. Then perhaps the Headmistress wouldn't try to find out on her own, in whatever way she was going to. Jessica licked her lips and began nervously, "All I can remember is he was really pale, and had black hair and was wearing black. But I'm afraid that's probably not much help..." she trailed off. That was that. Now she had to stick with that story, even if she had to lie again. At the last minute, she decided to ask the Headmistress her original question: "How would you be able to find him?" "Well, besides the fact that if I can trace his scent somewhere on you, I can get Dimitri to take me to where he found you and see if I can gather a scent from there. Each vampire has a certain smell to their venom. Only a trained nose can tell the difference. If this kind of thing happened when I just opened the school, I would've never been able to find the perpetrator. But, since the school has been open for a good number of years and I've been able to refine my sense of smell, it's not going to be that hard," Nami explained, getting up. She walked closer to the bed and popped her neck to get the crick out. "I need you stay extremely still, Jessica, after you tilt your neck so I can get to the wound, ok?" Nami asked bending over a bit. She was using a light, caring tone. Two cream colored cat ears, with black on the tips, popped from out of her hair and two tails of the same color popped out from her back. She needed the enhanced senses of her demon form to track this other student down. |

After a quick meal in town, Takai had hurried back to the school. It didn't take long for him to trace the Jessica's scent from the tree by the lake into the school. Only a few minutes later, he had reached the large unmarked doors of what he assumed must be the school Infirmary, but instead of immediately entering where he knew Jessica was, he stopped to listen. He was astonished to hear the Headmistress speak. Though she had a very adult voice, her words did not match the stately being he had imagined her to be. After all, the only times he had seen her and heard her speak were at school gatherings. She was being very informal - perhaps to put Jessica at ease. It was quite amusing how the frail little girl seemed to stand up to her, though Takai could feel her panic in his head. The link would fade after some time, but for now, he could still sense her in a remote corner of his brain. 'That would be my cue,' thought Takai, when the Headmistress seemed about to begin. Opening the door to the Infirmary, he stepped inside and cleared his throat. "That will be unnecessary," he said softly, but loudly, while he shut the door behind him. |

Dimitri, still surprised at his lack of thought on this subject, felt extremely relieved when he heard the Headmistress reaffirm to Jessica what she had mentioned to him outside in the hallway. To hear again that the young man responsible would not receive any harsh penalties set the young sensei at ease. But even hearing this, Jessica still seemed quite hesitant to reveal any possibly ‘incriminating’ evidence. She at first couldn’t remember anything, which Dimitri could have believed had she not later gone on to describe some of his clothing and his pale skin; but even that little bit of identification was most likely all she had time to process before the effects of such blood loss took hold. Before he could reply to the Headmistress’ indirect request for him to lead her to the ‘crime scene’, Dimitri found himself holding in a shocked expression. Nothing could have prepared him for what he next saw. Despite this being his second year at the extremely diverse school, the twenty-two-year-old was still only accustomed to the elementals in his family. As such, watching the Headmistress partially transform before his eyes slightly unnerved him. He needed to grow accustomed to this quickly or he’d never make it very well as a teacher here. A sudden voice drew Dimitri’s eyes from the partially-transformed teacher and probably nervous student towards the entrance to the infirmary. More surprise met the teacher. This was the vampire who attacked his student? Black hair and clothes, pale skin – seemed to match up with Jessica’s description (though, granted, how many other students could also fit it?). Still, for him to match up with the description and to walk in at the right moment with a statement close to a confession made the odds of this being the same young man extremely likely. Yet the first thing Dimitri thought wasn’t anything close to ‘how could he do such a thing?’; and he didn’t feel any anger or bitterness towards the student; instead, he felt respect and sympathy. It must have taken some courage to come forward like this boy was doing. Edited by Dimitri Vladimirescu, Friday Mar 12 2010, 01:16 PM.

Jessica felt like a cornered animal. Cornered prey, specifically, like a little bunny that couldn't fight back, just shiver in the corner in terror. There wasn't any way to get out of this mess. How do I always manage to get myself into these situations?, she scolded herself. To make the nervous girl worse, all of the sudden, the Headmistress transformed. Jessica nearly jumped out of her skin as the creamy ears and two tails of her cat form popped out from her body. Jessica had never seen a transformation of any kind before - it was only her first year, and she was quite reclusive. Wow, all sorts of new experiences today, she thought dryly, nearly hysterical from the accumulation of stress, nervousness, and all the other strange feelings she was feeling. Just when the world couldn't get any worse, it did. A voice spoke from the Infirmary door, which Jessica had not noticed opening. The voice was familiar, yet different, and it immediately drew her gaze. Instantly, the blood she had been slowly building up since the incident drained from her face. Why is he here? Ah! You're ruining everything! The more rational part of herself mentioned Everything is already down the drain, so how could him showing up ruin anything more?, but the terrified and nervous part of her was in control and completely ignored any rationality. Again, she dryly laughed in her head, He's like a knight in shining armor, come at the last second to save me... from what? Being sniffed? Suddenly, everything became hilarious to Jessica, and she erupted into hysterical giggles. Edited by Jessica Murphy, Friday Jun 18 2010, 02:57 PM.
