“The universe is a vast and boundless realm, full of countless races, civilizations, and organizes of all shapes and sizes. Of the nearly infinite number of souls that exist within this universe, there are a few that have the potential for greatness: The Awakened.

Some are born into this power: a birthright passed from generation to generation. Some are preordained to this calling: chosen by powers outside of their control. Others have this power given to them: ordinary citizens until that day of reckoning when everything changes. Regardless of their origins or identify one thing is consistent: They all have the potential for power and the capacity to break through their limits.

As a new Awakened, your path begins here. Are you a royal heir destined for the adventure of a lifetime? Are you a Space Pirate searching only for fame and fortune? Are you an ordinary soul just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time? The choice is up to you. The Universe is a vast and boundless realm, full of countless races, civilizations, and organizations of all shapes and sizes. You are but one of a nearly infinite number of souls, but this is just the beginning; The universe is full of trials and adventure, waiting for you to go out and explore. This is your awakening: Your story has just begun.”

"Nángoröth nángoröth nángoröth nángoröth nángoröth!" Curses rang from her throat as she ran through the makeshift shelters Mesianoko was famous, or infamously made up of. Once a project to build an underground worker-slash-living system for the less fortunate of Mars, this place was a slum in every meaning of the word. Unsurprisingly, this meant that less than savory characters often made this place their home, and poor, failing, confused artists, not so well versed in the common tongue didn't do so well here, especially when they glowed slightly in the dark, and had blue skin.

"Nángoröth du humans, nángoröth therr orothrim, un nángoröth therr edoc'sil vanta. Ekka edyr niat losna breasts wiol thorna seithar!" She thought, leaping over a sleeping homeless man. Odd that one would exist when homes are nothing more than four walls, and a roof. Though down here, often having four walls meant you were living pretty.

An alleyway blew by her, and she skidded to a halt, kicking up a few rocks as she tried to change direction suddenly. She slipped, scraping her hands and knees to break her fall while pushing herself back to her feet to dash down the dark hall. Her blueish skin glowed slightly in the dark, casting a slight bloom of purply-blue on the harsh metal and stone walls. Her saving grace was a large dumpster, which she used to its fullest extent to hide her glow.

"Iet. Aiedail." She muttered. The interior was fulled with something slimy and brown. It smelled like shit, and kind of felt like it to.

"Mor'ranr... Mor'ranr." She thought, trying to keep the image of what this actually was out of her mind.

Outside, the sound of footsteps on cool, rocky ground rang past and faded off into the distance. She was safe, well as safe as a person could be in a hell like this. With not so much effort she propped the lid open, and pulled herself out of the slimy muck of the trash. Taking a moment to let out an audible shudder, Dana Lyn Tell stepped out of the dark ally, and into the dim light of the main strip of Mesianoko.

Nexus found himself at the pinnacle of discomfort being below ground in a place such as this. The confinement of it all rang loud in his ears as the hushed hussle and bussle surrounded him from all corners of his being. He could feel the faint energies around him appear and dissipate; much like the lingering hidden shadow forms that loomed from the decrepit corners and make-shift buildings that lined the underbelly of Mars. His business down here was strict and timely. He never allowed himself much time down in the depth among such unsavory fellows and fiends. Nexus did not like to associate himself with the buyers of the drug he himself found himself entertaining. His control of his addiction was calculated, not callous--or so he was so keen to convince himself of.

He pulled the dark hood of his jacket up over his head, concealing his features. Even in his prime setting and home Nexus had always been one who stood out on the worst of days. His uncanny perfection and biological design was to thank for that, having been humanity's manufacturing of a seemingly perfect design--with some added features here and there. Because of his epidermis luminescence, he was a beacon for attention down in the slums he so often frequented.

Nexus had just finished off on a transaction, deal, what have you. He tightened his satchel to his side and turned a nearby corner to find a familiar fire escape. The boy of nineteen pulled himself up the rusting structure, steadying himself upon the tattered and worn metal frame to make himself to the remains of what must could have been a far off factory of old. He threw himself into a steady jog as he scaled the uneven roof top; keeping pace as not to happen upon any of the many characters that called the cess pool their home. The corner of the roof began to present itself on a near horizon, the building he desired for his exit crawling up in the near distance. Nexus was no stranger to physical feats, having been genetically built to endure and withstand the extremes of a human form and surpass them. Scaling building and jumping the drops and alleyways between was a necessity for escape considering the people Nexus so often dealt business with.

Nexus threw himself into a sprint, aiming for the concrete near the ledge of the building. As he neared his vaulting point, a strange sound met his ears as a small, dark figure sprinted by him; darting out from a dark hole rotted away in the building infrastructure. A loud wailing screech threw his train of thought off balance as the feline form darted into his line of vision.

"Fucking-" Nexus' foot missed its mark as the feline caught his ankle on impact in slight. Nexus jerked his form backwards, feeling his feet slip from their mark at the edge of the building looming a good two stories above the alleyway beneath. He slammed his palms down onto the gravel of the roof, fingers frantic for traction as his lower half slipped off the edge. Gravity of course, was his maker. Nexus forced his elbow onto the concrete of the edge, sparing himself a moments worth of grounding. A small form sat a few feet from him; feline eyes sharp in the darker ambiance--reflective and ever judgemental.
A cat.
A fucking-
He felt his grip give way as the rest of his form fell from the edge of the roofs ledge.

Nexus braced his legs. The fall would not be fatal, but it might draw some unwanted attention--which was all the more to worry about. He pulled his knees up for a falling roll, not before noticing the dark rectangular container below growing ever greater towards him. Shit.

Nexus felt the plastic covering beneath him give way as he landed, sound engulfing his ears as it cracked and imploded. He pushed his hood away from his face with a huff, arms falling out around him to feel his surroundings. The vile stench around him filled his nose as he steadied himself.
He could feel a foreign energy all around him, which set off alarms on all facets of his existence. The energy swirled about--intoxicating even in the stench that surrounded him. His eyes darted about in the darkness. His vision steadied on a form before him and he pushed himself backwards. His hands gripped at the broken pieces of plastic that broke his fall as he attempted to gain some leverage in the small, disgusting container he now lay crouched in.

A small figure lay before him, humanoid in appearance. Eyes, ears, a mouth. Nexus wiped his eyes on his arm, letting his vision focus as the energy from the other being began to creep into the air around him.

Nexus pushed himself up in slight. "Sorry." He spat out as he wiped the grime from his hands on his jeans. "Fucking cats." Nexus motioned above him to the roof ledge.

"NÁNGORÖTH!" Dana would scream. The dumpster seemed to implode as the lid caved in next to her. She was sure they'd found her, and it was the age old fight or flight that kicked in. Well, she'd had enough of flight. The dumpster seemed to fill with energy, as she began to draw on the latent energy always around her. In her left hand the brush materialized, her only tool.

With a small bit of style, and very little graced she swept a single stroke down, two towards the left and another down. In the air before her, a steel plate materialized.

"Sorry", the plate smushed into the ooze between them, and Dana pressed the heels of her feet against the plate.

"Fucking cats", She pressed with all her might, both pressing the plate against Nexus while tipping it slightly. With a single move she propped herself up, stepping on the plate a bit, and leaped backwards and out of the dumpster, landing in a crouch and taking a few steps backwards to gain some distance. The alley was small, almost, it seemed slightly smaller than before, but with all the adrenaline pumping, everything seemed small, and both far away, and way too close all at once.

She huffed loudly, swiping her paintbrush through the air again, and with a few strokes a... uh... It would seem she had tried to draw a blade of some kind, but with the jagged edges it came out as more of a saw, poking out with small jutting sharp edges at odd angles. She held the rather small saw in one hand, and the brush in the other, whilst adopting a crouched stance and watching the dumpster closely.

"Gánga... reisa fortha." She'd say, her voice trembling.

Nexus stared; brow furrowing as the small figure before him made its hasty escape from the vile enclosure he found himself in.
Nexus could catch a small glimpse of pale blue skin in the low-light as the figure moved up and over the edge of the garbage bin. He could make out eyes before him. Luminescent blue in the shadows, bright and uncanny for such a dark dwelling like this. He didn't happen across many beings that caught his eye. Not even an interest in short, however fleeting.
Many of the creatures below here dwell adorn in clothing that fit the shadows of their existence--Nexus being one of them. He preferred to remain somewhat of an anonymous to all the creatures and beings around him. He hadn't found much the sanctuary since being ripped from the familiarity of his former lifestyle. He found himself floating endless in this sea of stagnate. Down here in Mesionoko, it seemed like stagnate was all one could really be. He had the same duties day in and day out, biding his time in the tunnels that stretched onward and downward beneath a thriving city that Nexus' failed to have found a home in. His business kept him afloat and then some, but it was tiring to him, almost boring. He was living the same day over on an endless loop with the sudden hope of chance that a change in decision might bring some fun into the life he kept below.
Nexus' never considered himself much of a troublemaker. He was the fun loving other half to a set of twin lives once before. His brother had been his other half, the life that conjoined and balanced the severity and outbursts of his power. Without the darkness to balance the light within himself, Nexus' found this life a human staleness almost infuriating at times. Boredom was a true problem for him, but at best he was nothing much more than a troublemaker. A troublemaker whose power at times, when triggered or out of control--had more than once proven...problematic.

The boy of nineteen braced himself a tad, expecting a counter of some sort seeing as he had dropped through the ceiling of this other persons hobble. He could hear the quick scurry of feat and a flurry of words belonging to a language he knew nothing of. This occurrence was not uncommon, seeing as Mesionoko was a cluster for characters, beings, and almost all walks of life savory or with a lack thereof.
Nexus' perked his head up a bit, grabbing at the edge of the dumpster to pull himself up. He gazed upon the hooded figure for a moment, confused and silent. He could see the small object his other held in their hands. Something resembled a paintbrush, which only furthered Nexus' confusion, and the other seemed like an old world work instrument of some sort. Both occurrences ever the more laughable in comparison to an open threat.

"I've got no idea as to what you're going on about." Nexus' kept his voice calm and subtle. No emotion outside of a twinge of curiosity on the end of his tongue ending his statement. He didn't want to frighten the...creature? Human? Being? Blue eyes, blue skin, feminine in nature though it (She?) appeared...even a boy of nineteen down here would know better than to assume a kind existence from creatures happened upon in these settings. He didn't want to scare the other...girl, however. Nexus had always been more interested in befriending others, rather than creating enemies to have to deal with time and time again. And the weapons this one appeared to wield...well, those in itself were enough of a conundrum to leave Nexus a tad bit curious.
Nexus peered down from the edge of the Garbage bin, letting his height fall in as he peered down to her. He put both palms up, empty, as to show his side of a white flag between them both.
"No weapons." Nexus paused, perking his brow a bit. "Not gonna' hurt ya'. See?" He rolled his fingers a bit from side to side throwing in a small smile.
"Now can I-" Nexus motioned to the edge of the bin. "Come out? ...Or are you going to stab me with your, erm, paintbrush."

The man? Yes, definitely male, and humanoid, kind of a shocker down here considering most "humans" hardly looked as such. She'd take this into account as he spoke. It was the common tongue, as of before. The issue here of course being that she new very little of it. She'd catch a word here and there; "No, weapons, hurt, you, paintbrush."

She'd garnered that much at least, and from the context it would seem he came in peace perhaps? Though, Dana was wary already, no human, not even one as oddly perfectly formed as this, had been trustworthy. Not once, not ever; and she new deep inside that this one would quite possibly prove to be the same, although... She paused in her thoughts. No, no, there were no good humans, only ones who had yet to try to kill, or capture her for their own, disgusting devices.

Her eyes darted around, searching for an exit. The only one of course being directly behind her. The haven she'd thought she had found, was turning into a worse place than running from groups of men. At least they couldn't corner her, and of course with freedom looming just behind her. Turn back however, and there were guards, animals, a potential legion of humans vying for her, admittedly, less than stellar talent. Oh, and of course this human could just shoot her in the back once she turns. No, the answer wasn't run this time, she only hoped it also wouldn't end up being a fight. The human had put his hands up, perhaps a sign of peace, perhaps preparation for a deadly attack. Her paintbrush tightly gripped, she'd allow her previous constructs to fade away in a swath of greyish-silver smoke while she swept a few strokes in the air. Her aim had been a flag. No matter where he was from, she new at least this. A white flag meant peace, or surrender perhaps.

"Pace, out trash" She'd mutter, mispronouncing the word, while gesturing that Nexus come forth, as her flag... or... Dana's eyes darted towards the flag a moment, what in the world had she drawn. Good lord, it was human male underpants. The unmentionables swayed lightly in a slight breeze, serving only to accentuate the crudity of her drawing. Perhaps it was because of the shaking in her arm, or that she had tried to draw without looking. It had seemed to easy in the moment, a flag, a simple flag. White, pure, a pole. She'd at least gotten the pole right! Except...

Her eyes downcast.

Bamboo.

It was bamboo. On a long bamboo pole, she had somehow drawn a large pair of human male briefs. Pure white, though, perhaps through some horrid stumble, they had materialized with a slight yellow stain on the crotch.

Steeling herself, the woman looked back up, puffed her chest out, and held the 'white flag' out towards the man before her. Hopefully signifying peace, or, at maybe at least he'd underestimate her when he attacked.

"Esterní, esterní, esterní." She'd mutter internally. "Waíse du ai mor'ranr human..."

Nexus cocked his head quizzically to one side, studying the scene unfolding out before him.
He had in all honestly never seen someone with a power such as this. It was...strange, almost entertaining. It was out of the ordinary, definitely, for his day to day, considering he spent most of them in the shadows or in the almost silence of the buildings and structures surrounding them.

Nexus almost choked on a fit of laughter as he made out the girls newest artistic creation. It unfolded out in the least graceful fashion one would imagine. That was the charm of this girl, he guessed, in all her flustered existence before him.

"Woah, woah, okay. Slow your roll there...er, lady." Nexus held his hands out before him as non-threatening as before, trying to force back the smile curled onto his lips.
Nexus rached in slow to his fanny pack at his waist, keeping one hand up. His eyes drew themselves up once again to the pair of...soiled briefs before him in the air. He shook his head. Focus, idiot. Nexus pulled out a piece of weathered fabric from one of his pockets. It was dark from the soot and oil of the streets, but it had to be better than a pair of dirtied undies in his opinion.
He held up the tattered piece of fabric, one hand waving and pointing to the girl before him.

"Er, I come in Peace?" Nexus waved the flag back and forth, eyeing the girls version of her own flag. "Do you speak English? Translate? Habla... Ingles?" This was going to be rough.

Peace. Okay there was a word she new - or - kind of new considering she hadn't really conveyed it that well. Judging by his tone, verbiage and the white... grey... or brown. Well, it was a cloth, and despite her better judgement, Dana took it as a sign of camaraderie, distinct lack of danger; he wasn't going to attack her in the next few moments. That was what mattered in this juncture. She didn't have the energy for unnecessary combat.

English was the next issue, it wasn't like she thought he would suddenly start speaking her language, and she didn't know damn near enough English to really convey herself at this juncture. This is what happens when you get sent into unknown territory with little to no grasp of the common tongue, and not even a universal translator to help you along the way. Either way, with what little she had, she thought maybe she could convey her meaning. She let loose the staff, and 'flag', as it had begun to smell at this point. A pungent aroma unlike that of the stench of the slum around her. The slight dripping needed to go as well. As it left her hand it faded into a shimmering light and dissipated in a slight flash. With it, the smell went as well.

"Peace." She said, mimicking him. Her foreign accent clear in her voice to make "peace" sound more like "pice". She clenched a fist, and stuck her thumb out, pressing the tip against her chest. "Daná Lyntell."

Nexus smiled as the girl before him calmed herself enough to mutter something that resembled a name in response.

"Dana?" Nexus reiterated, lifting himself slowly from the bin he was still currently sloshing around in.
"Well-" Nexus pulled himself up and out over the edge of the garbage bin with a huff before landing on the ground. "I knew a Dana myself once." He shook out a cramp from his arms. Dumpster landings were never kind. "Then again, she had three more arms than you do, and-" Nexus trailed off, realizing once again that the girl in front of him did not particularly speak his tongue of English. "About thirty more eyes than you do but that isn't important considering how none of this is going to translate anywho..." His ramblings trailed off and he clicked his tongue once in the silence.

Shit. Now what to do about all this fuss.
Well, first off--introductions had started, and his time with some of the more underground gang dealings had taught him that introductions and possible allies were never something to write off. He was starting there.

"Nexus." He pointed to himself, both thumbs pointed back to highlight his ever charming smile and expressive eyebrows as they wiggled about comically. "Nexus Kodex. Light bringer, battery boy, fiend, friend, and all around mischief maker. On my good days. How do you do?"

Nexus paused for a moment, feeling a slow sensation creep over him. He blinked, assessing his surroundings in a moment of vulnerability. The sensation at his fingertips all too common but normally not at this magnitude. Energy. Power. Organic in composite, alive and thriving like a hive of wasps before him.
A humming in his ears began to make it's appearance. It flooded his temples and vibrated down to his fingertips, pulling him like a fading pulse towards the desired carrier.

Jesus fucking Christ
.

Nexus shrugged the sensation off, feeling the pulse and pull grow stronger before him. Directly in front of him. He could feel it. It sustained itself and wasn't fleeting like so many of Nexus' power sources he stumbled upon tended to be.

He hadn't picked up on anything this big beforehand, possibly due to the traumatic fall and landing--not to mention the run in with the little Smurf like creature who seemed to be keen on soiled undergarments as weapons--so now Nexus' could pinpoint what exactly was causing his body to react so suddenly.

Dana.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit.

Nexus flexed, feeling a pulsating surge of newfound energy flowing in from around him. This chick was a walking power plant, and with her biology looking almost organic, it could possibly be endless on top of it. Not like the sort fuses and quickies Nexus' was used to using for his power. This girl could be an ally, indeed. If they could ever begin to understand each other.

"OI. Dana...Lentils. DanaLen-Dee. Dee. Can I call you Dee? I'm calling you Dee. Hey, we-" Nexus gestured to his mouth and fluttered his fingers about with his words. "Translator. Translate. We need-a-translator." Nexus pointed between them. "And I'm pretty sure I can more than afford one down here. Come on." Nexus flashed her a hopeful grin, pointing to the end of the alleyway.

Ba-Boom!

"Misjudged that."

Leo groaned loudly, pulling himself from what was once a trash can -- now more like a small pile of trash, rubble and jagged metal spikes. He shook his head, a numbness had spread over his body, something he attributed to shock, or maybe excitement. After all, he head just spent the last few moments cradling Beatrice in his arms, only after he'd forced his wings out while they were mid-transport. It wasn't often his Blackmist came out, and even so of its own accord. Pondering this, and why he was still cradling Beatrice like a baby, Leo quickly let her down, and bowed lightly.

"I'm so sorry." He said, building his lie as he spoke. Not the best way to start a relati-FRIENDSHIP. He caught himself. "I don't know why, my wings just locked up like that." He shrugged the golden wings lightly before giving in, and folding them both underneath his dark cloak.

Subdued by the cloak, the flash of light only lit the ground beneath him for a moment as he forced his wings to fade back into nothingness.

Pearly whites flashed behind his darkened lips. A quick twist to check his surroundings, and a jolt of pain ran up his side. The last images he'd not before he fainted were the two people he supposed he must have startled in the crash, and the large jagged piece of metal, jutting out of his hip violently. Well, that explained the numbness. Lights out.

The moment Leo let go of Beatrice, she gracefully floated down towards the ground. Gently, as her foot touched the ground, her Robes of White, starting from the bottom and working it's way up, caught fire and slowly burned away. Black cinders and ash fluttered away as the white cloth burned away to reveal Beatrice's naked body. Slowly her hair, starting from the roots and maliciously creeping it’s way down to the tips, stained itself from Beatrice’s normal white to an eerily dark black. She opened her eyes to reveal a translucent luminescent Amber glow from her irises. This was not the expression of the girl known as Beatrice. This was the glare of a Goddess...or a devil.

The entire alleyway seemed to brighten and light up slightly. No, that wasn’t right...It wasn’t the alleyway that was getting brighter, rather the woman that was once Beatrice was so much darker by comparison. What little light that was present in the alleyway seemed to drain and siphon into this woman’s location. It was like staring straight into a black hole, darker than pitch black. It was inhuman and blood-curdling to watch the transformation. Compared to this “true darkness” that bathed this naked woman, the rest of the dark alleyway was a neon sign.

The true darkness compressed itself, and almost solidified before the eyes of any who would see this transformation. It was from this uncanny, sinister darkness that cloth would form, made of this almost unnatural true darkness that appeared around this woman. Slowly but surely the vestiges of light would return to normal as dark cloths swirled and embraced the figure of the woman that stood before those individuals in the alleyway. Black cloth wrappings snaked themselves around her ample figure and firmly envelope her limbs as well. The black cloths would mold together, swirling and blending into rather revealing, yet adequately concealed clothing. Black smoke, carrying the same abnormal, unnatural darkness as the cloths, would dissipate from her clothing before fading into the air. The Mistress of the Black Veil was truly awake now.

The first thing that caught the Mistress’s glance was the sight of Leo’s body injured by the jagged piece of metal that had ensnared itself into his flesh. In a luscious, sultry voice, the Mistress leisurely extended out her right hand and black cloth similar to her clothing began to form around Leo’s body, firming gripping in place around and over the wound in order to control the bleeding.
“Oh Leo Lorde; T-” she sighed, “You must have the strength to hold on until Miss Beatrice can wake up. If you do not, you may die.”
An almost lustful grin etched it’s way across her face as she spoke. Her words came out like honey, alluring and mesmerizing. Yet, behind her words, there was a wave of lustful desire, almost as if the thought of watching Leo die excited her, invigorated her. The mere thought of watching this man die sent a chill of pleasure down The Mistress’s spine. Yet she knew, at least for Beatrice’s sake, that this man must be kept alive...At least for the time being.

Her eyes then crossed the way to the other two individuals in the alleyway. She bit her lips in anticipation, eager to hear their responses to her questions.
“And who…” she meticulously chimed each syllable slowly, savoring the flavor of each word in her mouth as she spoke “...are the two of you?”
An arousing smile slide it’s way across her face as she waited for the other two in the alleyway to respond.
