Pain...

Gama was use to pain. It had been a constant in his life. The pain of injury, the pain of training... the pain of loss. But none of that compared to what he felt now, not even able to scream as his lungs hadn't formed yet. Gama would lay there on the frosted peek of Devil's Hill in agony as he reformed from Blackmist piece by piece. It took two hours before his body completely reformed and he could do nothing but lay there looking up at the violet sky. It was sunset and he could make out the shape of the two moons rising. His body ached as he sat up. He looked at his hand and let out a sigh as the pain started to ease.

"Damn that sucked big time. Now to more pressing matters, like where the hell am I...?"

Gama struggled to his feet, standing shakily on the freshly fallen snow. He looked around him cautiously but there was nothing there but him and a few trees. He let out a sigh, his breath turning to steam in the cold air. He started walking down the mountain toward nothing in particular, he just followed the feeling in his gut. As he descended he saw a flock of what he assumed to be birds similar to crows perched in the tree's but what struck him as strange were their red eyes, and the silence in their wake. After a while of trudging through snow he finally reached the bottom of the mountain. in front of him was a vast valley. The feeling in his gut tugged towards the south where the start of a small mountain range began. He felt a power in that direction, something that for some reason felt very familiar.

Gama was about to start walking again, after all unless he were to run there at top speed which he was far to tired to do, it would have taken forever. Thats when a portal opened up about ten feet away from him. He hadn't willed an ink portal to open, he doubted he had the strength to even do that right now. The portal was twelve feet tall by five feet wide and made completely of Blackmist.

"Well thats a bit weird... but so was the past few days."

To tired to fight the feeling, Gama stumbled his way to the portal and walked through. When Gama took his next step his feet were on a small path paved with black stone. The power he'd felt before was much stronger now, the portal had undoubtedly brought him closer to where he wanted to be. Gama followed the pathway through the mountains till he reached a massive stone bridge and what he saw on the other side was breath taking. A massive Temple. Then a powerful voice boomed to life, it seemed to sound excited, like a cry of victory.

"I... AM HOME!

Blackmist poured from Gama's eye's and mouth, forming a cloud in front of him. luminescent crimson eye's opened inside the cloud as the semi-solid form of Network formed, hands outstretched as if he were racking his fingers across the sky.

"After years of careful planing... We, are finally home."

Gama stood there in stunned silence, it might just have been the concussions or all the stress he'd been under finally making him lose his damn mind but now he was standing there in front of Network and he was also pretty sure he'd heard him say "WE, are home.".

"Um... I'm sorry but what? Were you inside me this whole time? And what do you mean by "We" are home?"

Network sighed deeply as if slightly annoyed while he turned to face Gama.

Didn't my daughter teach you to pay attention when your elders are speaking boy? Especially when being addressed by your Grandfather."

Gama's heart sunk down to the soles of his feet. He wanted to say something smart, to say he was full of shit but there was no deception in the Mist God's words and deep in his very being he could't deny the feeling he'd had back then when he'd first met Network in the Underworld.

"You're... My Grandfather...?"

Network turned and started drifting toward the temple.

"All will become clear in time, for now just follow me."

Gama followed Network across the bridge to the obsidian doors of The Temple of Nebula.

Inevitability, is an interesting concept to run across. Especially when it involves your death. Kross, over all the years, had seen a lot. He'd killed, he'd seen people get killed, young, old, he'd watched it all through his scope. Hell, more often than not he was the one pulling the trigger.

Even so, when it involves your own death, well... He'd felt the body die. Crumble away, and for a moment, all he was, was spirit. Then, a few moments later he wasn't even that. Just a feeling, a feeling being whisked away by... something.

Now he was facing that again, only this time he wasn't so sure that some spirit would save him. He'd remateriailized in the atmosphere of the reddish planet and fell through the clouds towards the ground below.

Kross knew he didn't have time, none in fact. An audible gasp escaped his lips, but was nearly instantly ripped away by the whirling winds as his back tore open. Two gigantic wings spread out from behind him, and with a single majestic flap, carried him through the sky.

There was only one thing for him to head for. The only two people on this whole damn wasteland of a planet.

In front of them loomed a set of absolutely gigantic obsidian doors that were engraved with events of Networks life. Wars, bloodshed, and Nithlings rising from pools of mist. Networks hands fully formed and he cracked his knuckles before simply placing a single finger on the massive obsidian doors. Crimson energy flowed around the edges of the door and a gust of air flowed out as the doors creaked open slowly.

"My temple, still sealed after all this time. Its good to finally return home after so long."

It was then that he felt the approaching presence, faint from the distance and barely enough to catch over his own aura. He would look to the sky and sigh deeply.

"My door's haven't been open for even a few minutes now and the bugs are already swarming, how annoying."

Networks aura flared, a mix of black and bloody crimson, filling the air with the iron heavy smell of freshly shed blood. Around him and Gama pools of Blsckmist seemed to bubble on the ground as winged Nithlings formed.

"What do you think Gama, a fast death or should I draw whomever it is closer and savor the moment?"

The Nithlings, now fully formed hovered to either side of Network who had a rather cruel looking grin on his face as if the thought of ripping the new arrival apart with his own hands delighted him.

Gama was still shaking off the shock left behind by Networks words.

"He's... but how..."

He stood there bewildered as Network unsealed the doors of the temple. The air hit him and he stumbled back a bit, still weakened from reforming.

"Whats in there anyway, a shrine or something?"

Only moments later Gama felt a presence approaching them. Network must have felt it too because he'd turned and was gazing into the sky.

"My door's haven't been open for even a few minutes now and the bugs are already swarming, how annoying."

Then Gama smelled the unmistakable sent of blood as Networks aura flared and two winged Nithings formed.

"What do you think Gama, a fast death or should I draw whomever it is closer and savor the moment?"

The energy Gama was feeling wasn't hostile, it also felt a bit familiar like he'd felt it recently. That's when he realized why he recognized it, it was the same energy he felt coming from the guy who'd asked for help back in the Spiral.

"Hold up Net... I mean Grandfather. I recognize this energy and I'm pretty sure he's not hostile, probably just lost. He was there with us in the Spiral before it exploded."

Gama would walk to the middle of the bridge and wave in the direction of the energy hoping to catch the person's attention before Grandpa decided to test his aim with a little target practice. Gama was pretty sure the guy or girl would rather not become the human equivalent of a clay pigeon.

Looks like they'd noticed him.

No point trying to be stealthy anyway. It wasn't like Kross had been looked for a fight anyway, even as the creatures began to form, no, all Kross would do was draw his pistols as he blasted towards the ground.

Trying to pick up even more speed, he dive bombed suddenly. Folding in his wings so he fell like a torpedo. He would be a dark blur against the dark sky, and suddenly lying, before hitting the ground he'd unfurl his wings and jet forwards towards Network.

Wjth his added speed he covered the ground fast, blitzing towards the demon man, and stopping just before the two of them by whipping his wings out to the sides. A massive gust of air would blast past, as the currents he was riding flew past him, and Kross dropped to the ground in a crouch, folding his wings back in, which vanished, swathed in light.

Network sneered. He absolutely hated waiting, and the fact that even more obstacles had began popping up aggravated him to no end. If he had it his way he'd have simply blown the pest out of the sky without so much as thinking twice about it, which by all rights he had that right I mean, he is a god. Unfortunately his Grandson had other ideas of how to handle the situation and it just so happened to involve... you guessed it...

Fucking...

WAITING!

"If you insist on handling this Gama just finish whatever this is quickly before I lose my patients."

Network turned away, even as Kross would land. He'd lost all interest in the situation entirely and instead he would walk through the Temple doors and make his way down the entry hall to to the throne room, brazers of black flame igniting as he moved past them. As he pushed the doors of the throne room open he took a deep breath and sighed.

It was finally time to become whole again.

Network walked across the surface of a large circular pool of Blackmist at the center of the room that seemed to be more like water than its typical gaseous form. The moment his foot touched the pool an energy within the very planet seemed to pulse, as if the spirit of Spirabilis itself had felt and recognized his authority. He walked towards his throne at the center of the pool, Blackmist pulling up from the black water and melding to his very being. Network began to solidify, becoming flesh once more. He towered over most now, standing at about ten feet tall. He sat down on his throne with a look of absolute triumph on his newly reformed face.

"SPIRABILIS! YOUR GOD HAS RETURNED!"

Network roared, his voice shaking the whole planet and could be heard by all on it.

Gama simply nodded in acknowledgment as Network spoke and left him to enter the Temple. Gama braced himself this time and stood strong as the wind from Kross's wings hit him. The man didn't speak at all which struck Gama as odd.

"I know you're probably confused I am too. Just stick with me and Im sure Network with explain everything to us."

Gama would turn and walk to the open doors but before he walked in he reached into an ink portal and pulled out a worn looking pack of cigarettes. He flipped the top of the pack open, inside were three cigarettes. He pulled one out and put it in his mouth before snapping his fingers sending a spark of Ether to light the cigarette. Gama had been through so much lately it was really stressing him out. Though through all of it he did get to meet some new people and even see his old friend Thane. Gama took a deep drag on the cigarette and blew the smoke out in a thick cloud.

"Well Thane, I hope next time we see eachother shit doesnt decide to hit the fan. Well till then this cig's for you man."

Gama took another drag and let out the smoke into the sky. He would look to Kross before speaking.

"So whats your name? And uhh, what brought you to the Spiral?"

He looked like a knight up close. Kross eyed him up and down, seeing the cigarette and him muttering something. Odd. The Ghost Sniper didn't speak, just looked around. Network had ignored him entirely it seemed.

"SPIRABILIS! YOUR GOD HAS RETURNED!"
The voice yelled from beyind the doors, and Kross took a look past Gama-

"So whats your name? And uhh, what brought you to the Spiral?"

"Kross, Thane" He responded distracted, and heading to walk past Gama. "You responded to my distress call. The one that fell from the sky. Name?"

Blackmist flowed through Networks veins, pulsing though him and sending soft trimmers through the ground like a heartbeat. He had weakened considerably in the past few years but his strength was now returning to him. His body had finished reforming and after being made of nothing but mist for so long he delighted in the senses he now felt again, running his finger down the arm of his throne.

"Such a wonderful feeling."

Network closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Then he felt their presence.

"I know you're there, come out of hiding and reveal yourself to me."

From the corner of the room stepped a girl in a black and red kimono. Her hair was white and she had crimson eyes. She would approach Network cautiously.

"Lord Network? Is that really you... but how?"

Network looked the girl over. What really caught his attention was the girls essence. He let a small grin escape as she approached and the memory of this girl returned to him.

"Quem Metum. Nice to see you reformed along with the rest of My world."

The girl curtsied respectfully and smiled.

"Yes my lord it was quite the shock, I awoke here in your temple with hazy memories of Spirabilis's destruction. Also I'm happy to report that the Milites and other servants have also awoken."

Networks grin widened even more, his fanged teeth full exposed now.

"Excellent"

"My name is Gama Ritter."

Gama took the last drag of his cigarette before putting it out and desolving it with Ether. What Kross had said struck him as a bit odd though because he'd mentioned Thane's name.

"So how do you know Thane, are you his friend or something?

Gama was genuinely curious, he had already met Shoujax who'd turned out to be friends with Thane too so could Kross also be a friend of his as well, or maybe an enemy?
