..and so the first steps have been take, her story has begun, and where it will take her not even she know! Everything about this world amazed and perplexed Amaria. The moment the young woman decided to set off on her own, abandoning the only life she had ever had, she knew that the journey would be difficult and full of the unknown. As she stood there, alone, at the base of the clocktower on an unfamiliar world surrounded by strangers, she realized exactly how much of the unknown she would be facing. Staring up at the very tip of the tower from the base of the massive structure she knew with completely certainty one fact: She had absolutely no idea where she was going. "I probably should have figured out where I was going before hitchhiking on the first ship passing by..." she scowled. In truth although she was expecting to face some challenges and trials, this whole trip had from bad to worse, one horrible choice after the other. "My instinct and my gut told me to get on that ship and it brought me to this world." she moaned, "and right now my instincts are telling me if anything interesting is going to happen on this world, it's going to be right here!" She waited a moment, pausing to listen for something to happen or someone to appear, but all she could observe was the usual crowd of pedestrians around her. "Fine!" she exclaimed, "If troubles not going to come looking for me...I'll go looking for it!" I should be able to see things from the top of the clocktower, she thought to herself, I guess I'll head up there to take a look. |

It was your typical day in Dawnbreak. It was about three in the afternoon so the sky was perpetually orange by now, the night sky of black only covering the city after midnight. On this day, there was a man dressed rather casually. All black. Black v neck shirt, black pants, black shoes. He even had a black watch on. This only made his pale skin stick out, but what stuck out even more was his bright red hair. Red hair was a symbol on Dawnbreak, but we'll get to that later. He even had red eyes to match as well. As the man went on his walk he approached the base of the clock tower and looked up. It was more than just a clock tower. At this point it was considered to be a monument, a building encased in time. It was the only building that still worked after the thousands of years of history this place had to offer. Never withering over time, never falling prey to corotion. It was as if time itself refused to continue for such a thing. The clock tower was considered to be sacred to the natives of Dawnbreak, even criminals knew better than to deface the clock tower. It was a beauty to behold, and the view at the top was even better. There thoughts that the man needed to clear up and as such, always came to the clock tower to clear his mind. He would state up for a few more seconds before walking towards the entrance to take himself to the lobby of the clock tower. Once he was inside he casually took his time to walk to an elevator that would take him right to the top. He was in no rush. At least that's how he appeared to be. |

Amaria pushed open the entrance doorways and walked into the clocktower, Taking her first breath inside she was immediately taken back my the majesty and hallow atmosphere of the Clocktower's lobby. There was something different about the inside of the clocktower, almost a magical feeling. The walls, floors, and everything inside the lobby was almost irregularly frozen in place, like time itself could not corrupt this place. It was truly a sight to behold. Even the Valtoran Flagship, the very image of power and respect etched into her mind for her entire life, didn't hold a candle to this place. Amaria felt a new wave of excitement and her worries that she had felt outside immediately vanished. She was ecstatic with energy. All the new places and people was so much to take in for her, she could barely contain her levels of excitement. The moment she spotted the elevator leading up to the rooftop she practically bounced over to it. Stopping in front of the elevator, she stared at the design of the frame of the elevator itself. It was much different than the elevators aboard the Valtoran ships: sleek, shiny, and not held together by welded metal plates with wires sticking out here and there. She couldn't help herself, almost instinctively, her hand slowly rose up to touch the side of the elevator frame, slowly caressing her hand down the cold metal. "Amazing..." she whispered to herself, almost mesmerized by the new reality that she was in. "We're definitely not on Valtora anymore.." |

As the man reached the elevator he noticed that there was a woman wearing a unique outfit staring at the doorway in awe. She was definitely a visitor, but not like that was our of the norm. Dawnbreak has always had many visitors of various races come and go. There was something unique though. He had almost mistaken her for an android with the noticeable lines umder her eyes, yet he knee she was not a robot. He could sense life coming from her. "I've never heard of a Valtora before, is that where you're from?" he said casually while reaching over to press the 'up' button. Now that he hopefully got her attention, he was able to get a better look at her and wow she was unlike any woman he had seen before. Literally. She was just about as tall as he was so they could see eye to eye. Her eyes are what really caught his attention but he would try not to gawk at her. "Name's Lester by the way. You new around here?" Right as he asked his question the elevator would ding! as the doors would open to reveal an empty elevator. "After you." he would say while holding the doors open for her. Assuming that she went in first, he would follow in shortly after and press the button to take them to the top. "If you are new," his voice getting cut off as the doors closed. "I would suggest taking a look at the top. That's where I always go to clear my mind. The view is spectacular. Especially at this time of day." A friendly smile was given as the elevator began to rise upwards in motion. He waited to give her a chance to reply back as after all, he was in no rush and was simply making small talk. |

She jumped to attention at the sound of someone speaking next to her. A blush of embarrassment rushed across her face when she realized that the man standing next to her was speaking to her. Oh crap, she thought to herself, was I thinking out loud? She looked over the gentlemen that had just joined her, glancing in his direction, examining him closely for a moment. He was dressed in all black in a sharp looking suit. It was his red hair though that really caught her attention, it contrasted heavily with his pale white skin. Recomposing herself as he introduced himself, Amaria took a sharp breath in through her nose and stared straight ahead just in time to see the light above the doors blink. As the elevator door opened and the man dressed in black held the door open for her she cautiously watched him as she took a step inside. She was about to open her mouth to command the operator to turn on the elevator, as was the way of the Valtoran, when suddenly the elevator sprung to life and began rising up to the top. Her eyes widened Amazing! All he did was push a button! She looked around, filled with curiosity at how this elevator worked compared to her cultures when she noticed the man was looking over to her smiling, almost as if he had asked her another question. "You ask a lot of questions." she snorted back to him, "and you seem real eager to get to know someone you just met." Amaria continued to hold herself firmly while in the confines of this metal box with this mysterious man waiting to see how he would react. I don't know if he's looking for trouble or just being friendly but I guess for now I should be on guard. |

"Oh my the feisty type. That's fine with me I like when they play hard to get." There was a grin of confidence on his face as he started to eye her out. "Don't worry baby girl I promise I don't bite, so why don't you come with me and we can really enjoy ourselves?" The man had his hand outstretched and held it for a few seconds before letting out a snicker. "Oh my God I can't believe I just said that. How do men even come up with creepy shit like that. I'm sorry. It was a joke. Oh god that felt so cringe to say." This time there was a genuine smile on his face as he eased up from his tense position from before. "You can relax. I'm not here for trouble. After all, you accepted my invitation to the top of the tower didn't you? That makes you my guest. And what kind of man would I be if I can't even take care of a guest?" As he relaxed into the wall he was resting on a soft vibration could be heard coming from his pocket. He reached into it and took out a small rectangular device, a smart phone. Although the moment that he looked at the screen an audible tch! came from his mouth. He looked annoyed for just a second then put his phone away. "To answer your question though, I'm just a friendly person. Besides, in my line of work I barely get to meet new people. Being stuck in an office all day really sucks when it becomes a daily routine. I just need a break from all the work I do. And caring for the affairs of others is kinda in my line of work as well? Kinda?" By now the vibration from his phone stopped again putting the elevator into a brief silence. "You must be used to combat if you're so on guard, so I guess I can't blame you. IF you were just a regular tourist you wouldn't be so guarded ha ha. Only veterans of war always stay on their toes, so I guess I can respect that." |

Amaria glanced over to Lester, then let her guard down just enough to chuckle at him. "You're an odd one" she smirked at him, "In my line of work, you learn there's no such thing as a friendly person." She paused for a moment, contemplating Lester's remark. Her faint smile faded like a candle in the wind, replaced with an expressionless thousand-yard stare. As the elevator came to a halt she joylessly replied, more to herself than Lester, "I'm no veteran. Just a fool who blindly followed an even bigger fool." For a moment she was no longer in that elevator, but in a brutally damaged escape pod, cradling the blood, lifeless corpse of her older brother. The scene burned into her mind. There was a brief silence before she snapped herself back to reality. "What IS it that you do exactly?" she inquired, sharply glancing over to him. |

"Me? Uuuhhh. Well. You could say that I'm really important to the city. More important that I would like to be." he said with a sigh. Before he could give another answer the elevator went off with a ding! and the doors slide open leading them to the lobby of the top floor. Again he would let Amaria exit first and would follow after her then slowly take the lead, guiding her to a different set of doors. You could see the view of the entire city because of class windows but it wasn't as nice as getting a front row seat. "Hey. Follow me." He would walk around to the side and reach a set of stairs that took him to a sign that clearly said in all caps 'AUTHORIZED PERSONAL ONLY ' He decided to ignore the sign and kept on walking to another door with the same sign. He tried to tug on it and naturally it was locked. "Here's A plus about being important. You get a little bit of leeway in places like these." As he spoke he took out his wallet and pulled put a small looking card in specific, wavedit infront of the mini terminal on the door, and just like that the red light turned green and the door unlocked. "Come on. There's something nice in store on the other side." he said while walking through the door. Assuming that Amaria would follow, they were taken to a long hallway devoided of Windows, only pale lights illuminating the walkway from above. He walked to the other end where he waved his card again and unlocked another door. As this door slight a blinding light came through from the other side. "Welcome to Dawnbreak." ![]() The scene in front of her would be a sight to behold. You could see everything with this view. From the data center located in the first district, to the dark covered dome on the third district. Everything was laid bare while being basked in the ever glowing orange sunset of Dawnbreak. Lester would stand next to her as he slowly lead her down a set of stairs and to a railing that overlooked one of the edges. "Careful not to fall over. Unless you can fly I don't suggest you lean forward too much. So, what do you think?" |

Amaria wore a smug expression on her face. She had seen a countless number of people boastful about just about everything: Their strength, their power, their influence, how well known they were, how important they were, or the massive size of their- Well it didn't matter. Amaria followed Lester as he led her through this restricted area. Following him through this windowless hallway Amaria plotted to herself some sarcastic remark she would make once they got to the top. As Lester opened the doorway at the top Amaria rolled her eyes, amused by the grandiose of this whole ordeal. Yet as she stepped through the doors, Amaria took a sharp gasp inwards and was blown away by the sight before her. Dawnbreak, stretched from horizon to horizon and painted by the beautiful array of colors overhead, lay before her in a breathtaking scene. She was more than speechless, words could not construct the view in front of her. She followed Lester as he slowly led her down some stairs to a railing overlooking the edge. She had seen this world, and countless others from the outside; appearing as round marble shapes floating in the vast void. Beautiful as they were, the comparison was much much different. "So this is what a world really looks like." she muttered in awe, staring out into the horizon trying her best to soak in the entirety of the sight. Edited by Amaria, Oct 14 2017, 07:01 AM.

((Optional Background Music)) Another smile was on his face. She liked it. That was good. "I'll take that as a 'yes I do like it.' " he said while a soft chuckle as he joined her on enjoying the view of the city. He would look after everything in silence with her. The scenery, the cars racing below, the abundance of space ships taking off and landing. Everything happening all at once was enjoyed in a peaceful silence. That is, until Lester's phone started vibrating again. With a sigh he slowly took it out, only to once again huff and quickly put it away. It was as if he was ignoring whoever was trying to get in contact with him. "It's a good thing the sun almost never sets here. God I love this view so much." he said out loud to himself. "Oh, and I never did really get your name. What was is it, if I may ask?" By now the vibrations from his phone would die down again as he turned his head and looked at the fair maiden before him. |
