There are times when a game only JUST announced captures my attention so much, that I want to talk about it in great detail. However, I often don't feel that it's fitting to talk about these games in the detail I desire on Skype.

Hence, this thread. The idea of this thread is as simple as taking a game you've only JUST seen announced, particularly a game you are extremely interested in, and attempting analyze as much of the known information and your speculations as possible- possibly to the extent of creating review-like walls of text, perhaps stemming some conversations in a reply to your thoughts. Take, for example, the reason I wanted to start such a thread...

Hyrule Warriors. I fudge you not, a crossover between The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors was announced at the VERY BEGINNING of today's Nintendo Direct. This is the third huge Nintendo x Something Completely Different crossover ever since Poke'mon meeting Nobunaga's Ambition in Poke'mon Conquest (well technically there's Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, but I'm referring to crossovers that legitimately crossover their general game concepts, not just their characters), with the second being Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. However, that WiiU mashup RPG has had absolutely no new info since it was announced, so I'll stick to this one.

As a longtime Zelda fan and a recent Warriors fan, I find myself EASILY excited for this game. True, there are many potential problems that can occur by combining the puzzle favoring Zelda formula with the hack and slash formula of Dynasty Warriors, I believe this has the possibility of being completely insane fun and I love that thought. It has been said in the Direct that this is NOT being designed as the next main 3D Zelda title (and really would you expect it to be), but there's no denying that it will contain certain elements of 3D Zelda gameplay- which formula is it more weighted towards, however, is not COMPLETELY certain by this teaser, but it is looking very heavy on the Warriors hack and slash, which I am personally alright with because I enjoy me some silly hacking and slashing. It DOES seem that many assets are incredibly familiar to those of Skyward Sword, but given that they haven't even come up with a logo or a certain title yet, I'm willing to bet this is VERY early footage, and a lot may change in all aspects of design. And given the fact that we have actual gameplay footage, it seems that we already know MUCH more about this than SMTxFE. So what's there to say about the game from the trailer, other than that it looks very over the top?

Well, for starters, Z-targetting looks like it will be back- Link is leaping around and keeping that camera locked on that Lizalfos pretty effortlessly. This wouldn't mean much, except that this is a game with a heavily DYNASTY WARRIORS-based combat scheme, and I can't recall any Dynasty Warriors game that gives you a dodge maneuver like Link is using at that moment. Granted, I am certain that Z-targetting will be limited to larger enemies like said Lizalfos, but the fact is that I think because of this, these enemies will likely be designed requiring dexterous/cautious gameplay more comparable to Zelda than Warriors. Likewise, the fact that Link doesn't even attack that Dodongo, for all the screen time it has, suggests that he may need to wait for a proper opening, requiring significantly more strategy for an individual foe than a powerful Dynasty Warriors enemy, but for all we know that might just be the teaser showing off the big bad lizardthing.

Link indeed seems to be capable of item usage, showcasing a barrage of Bombs, as well having a Red Potion selected on certain clips. These are very likely going to be more focused on the hack and slash combat than usual, seeing HOW MANY bombs he throws at once, but there's little else to say about these items yet. But then he's got that nifty Fire Rod-type thing- he's using it to perform a relatively complex and flashy combo, and he has his Bombs selected as his "item" while using it. This shows that there WILL be more main weapon types than just Link's typical sword, and this Fire Rod being one of them implies that Link will be using many different techniques than usual, or at least said Fire Rod.

However, I feel that this might imply something else- since Link has access to at least two radically different combo styles, I am given the impression that there might not be several playable characters, as in all Warriors games. Some Warriors spinoffs like the Fist of the North Star games have only about 10-ish characters, but there are still quite a few interesting characters in the Zelda mythos that I'm sure a lot of fans would love to play as. While I could personally accept only having Link if the game was designed in a long-term adventure type of scale (and if I got to use that Fire Rod~), rather than episodic battles like most Warriors games, I would be lying if I didn't say I HOPE that we get at least a few other playable characters.

... but again, I'm assuming that this is ALL very early stuff we're seeing here, and for all we know the final game might not even LOOK like this. Still, the very aspect of this crossover has piqued my interest so much, I wanted to gush on and discuss it as much as I could.
