Chapter 3: Mysterious Audience Just as I got out of the car, I manifested my energy sword and started hacking at imps. There were more than I expected, but they are easy enough for me that it hardly mattered. Imps are only dangerous in their large numbers. A single imp takes one or two hits to take down, but a “swarm” of them would collectively take just as many strikes as the more powerful demons I’ve faced or even more. They look much like the imps I’ve seen in RPGs and other video games involving demons, thus me calling them “imps.” They stand about two to three feet high and are very skinny but stronger and tougher than any mortal being (except me of course). Almost every part of them is long and skinny. Their heads probably measure about one foot from long and pointy nose to an even longer and pointier pair of horns. These horns are mostly decorative, though. Their arms and fingers are almost bony. At their waists are the generic spade tipped devil tail. The legs are much like a satyr’s but more reptilian with clawed feet instead of hooves. I continued swinging my sword at their skinny waists and blasting them like I did that one on the way there. Every time I destroyed one of them, their corpse disintegrated into a pile of ash and a black smoke lifted from it. It’s hard to banish them with them trying to attack me, but since their much weaker than the other demons, their quicker to get rid of. I think I got most of them, but I can’t quite tell. I was distracted. The point in banishing them is that if they hang around, they’ll just manifest again and cause more trouble. I kept hacking, blasting, and banishing imps. Standard demon slaying procedure. It was easy compared to fights I’ve had before, but I was uncomfortable for some reason, and that is something to worry about in my line of work. I noticed there was a girl sitting at one of Starbucks's outside tables. She was just watching me like it was a show... not that good just an okay show to pass the time. I’m sure some projectiles have flown her way, but she seemed just fine. She just kept staring and creeping me out. The fight went on for about five minutes, but I can't be sure, possibly due to the adrenaline rush. I had finally got rid of the last imps when I heard her clapping unenthusiastically. Clap... clap... clap. “Wow. That’s impressive. Good job, Cody.” WHAT!? |

Chapter 4: Introductions... or Just Introduction To describe her simply, she looked goth. She wore a black shirt with the sleeves hanging off her shoulders, a black skirt, and fishnet stockings. Her dyed black hair was short in the back and gradually got longer in the front where it was a bit past her chin. “How do you know me?” I asked after looking around for any witnesses. Everyone else had left. It was just me and the stranger. She tapped on her head. “I looked in here. I bet you’re not used to it, since it was so easy.” “I don’t meet many telepaths, and though I have the ability, I don’t have much reason or intention to look in anybody’s minds. I’m not the only person with things I want to hide.” “Come on,” she said rolling her eyes. “You’ve read some people’s minds. And don’t lie to me. I KNOW you do.” She said that last sentence kind of threateningly but then returned to a more relaxed mood. “Yeah, but usually to find subtle ways to help them hopefully improving their mood.” “Why hold back?” “What?” “I said, ‘Why... hold... back?’ I know you’re the one that opened the rift to that mental plane. You had to have a reason to do that. You were looking for power, and you got it. Come on, Cody. Have some FUN. I bet you can do anything with your magic. Why hold back?” Every sentence that escaped her lips seemed to have a different mood. This girl was starting to creep me out. “Stop calling me by my name. At least it would be fair if I knew your name, too.” “Haha. You like things ‘fair.’ It’s not like I care about my identity being hidden, anyway. My name’s Madelene Pittari. And yes, I am the same Madelene my friends told you about.” She started sounding a little proud in herself. I put my hands on the sides of my head. “Okay, that’s starting to get annoying.” “Well, if you would just put up a better guard, I wouldn’t be so tempted.” That is pretty simple to do. Genesis told me anybody can do it as long as they know they’re being “invaded.” With enough skill, though, this can be prevented. The mind is like a ball field, and the one it belongs to has the “home field advantage,” enough to win any game. “That better for you?” I asked. “In a way.” “Now that you know me, how about you tell me about yourself?” “Don’t you want to look in MY mind? It’s only... ‘fair,’” she said mockingly. “I’d... rather not.” “Please?” She sounded desperate. “You’re planning something, aren’t you?” “You must have went in far enough to figure that out.” “I only guessed.” “You’re no fun. Oh well. Guess I’ll tell you, then, just to make you happy.” |

Chapter 5: Parallel Origin Madelene cleared her throat. “As Tania and Sally told you, I have been interested in magic for a while, much like you. What I liked to study was witches and witchcraft. I also learned things like energy and auras like you. In high school, many people made fun of me because of my lifestyle which you can tell from what I’m wearing. They did humiliating things to me, and I wanted to get back at them so much, even if it took a while. “After that, I studied hard and went as far as to try to summon demons and pray to devils. I said incantations and burned candles. I tried anything I could find, but nothing worked and those preppy, self-centered philistines continued to torment me. Yet I continued until college. A few months ago, I was having a weird dream. It was so weird that it wasn’t hard to figure out it wasn’t real, and then I went lucid. You know what that is, right?” “Where you know you’re dreaming and could control it,” I answered. “Good boy! I flew around my dream world and found this strange door. It wasn’t like anything else I saw there that I could control to do anything. I decided to go through it and found myself in an even stranger, yet familiar place. There I could look at my own memories, personality, and even thoughts. “This place opened up into a much bigger place with dimensions I can’t describe in terms of this world. There were many ‘rooms’ like the one I came from all over this place. In there, I sensed a strong energy and flew toward it. At that spot I felt an energy ball that seemed to come towards me but at the same time seemed worlds away. I reached for it anyway, and just as I pulled it between worlds, it exploded making a hole. Like a drain, the energies of the world I was in rushed through this hole, and I was pulled back to my ‘room.’ “At that point, I woke up to find a strange deformed man on my bed. He told me that his name was Erasmo Murnock, a demon from the world I just visited. Like your friend Genny, he taught me how to use magic. Up ‘til now, I have been practicing and training my powers and started wondering ‘which one of us is more powerful?’” “Be careful, Cody,” Genesis advised, “I sense a powerful spiritual energy coming from her.” “Me, too,” I replied, “I can also sense that she isn’t a demon, but she that does't stop her from freaking me out. I get the suspicion that she doesn’t want to hold back.” |

Chapter 6: Climactic Battle She charged at me and shot a concussive blast. I dodged enough to mostly avoid it and shielded against what would still hit me. I followed it with a TK push in the direction she was still moving. She almost fell, but telekinetically flipped herself to her feet. I formed a sledgehammer-like energy weapon in my hands and summoned one of my new companions, the paladin Kendrick, and removed my hood as that is his preference. He charged at her and swung the hammer at her side, but she shielded it and was still knocked over. After again showing her magical agility, she was on her feet. Her hand cracked with static as she prepared her next attack. Electricity zapped from her hand, and I didn’t quite shield it in time. I managed to reduce the damage a bit by absorbing it. Just as I recovered from the attack, I didn’t notice the table she lifted and flung at me. It slammed into me, but before it would knock me to the ground, I deflected it away. I shot a blast at her and just as she got back up, grabbed her and pulled her toward me. This was an open attack for Kendrick, and he took it. He struck at her, and I pulled her back like a rubber band for another hit. Just as he was about to hit her again her hands spewed fire at me like a flamethrower. I would have caught on fire if I hadn’t shielded it with my “plate” armor technique for close-range attacks. I lost concentration, and she broke free of my grip and ran off. At a safe distance, she created fireballs and started throwing them at me. I caught some of them and threw them back, but she was too quick. She grabbed me and slammed me against the ground applying a force so powerful that I couldn’t get back up. I wasn’t strong enough. Then, I remembered this morning. I focused all my energy into my muscles, and they bulged up. Her hold broke as I got back up. Back on my feet, Kendrick swung at her again, but it didn’t seem as fast as I expected. I noticed my muscles we back to normal size. She must have been so surprised at what I did that she accidentally let go, and I didn’t use my improved strength because it took all my concentration to bulk up. I was exhausted, and my muscles burned. She had this crazy looking grin on her face. She reached out her hand and started choking me like Vader. I tried to retaliate by choking her, but I couldn’t create much of a force since I was tired and couldn’t concentrate. Suddenly, my throat was released, and I could breathe. “You’re too much fun. I can’t let you die so soon. I’ll see you, later.” And she ran off. As I tried to catch my breath I thought, I don’t know what you’re planning on doing Madelene, but I’m sure it won’t be good. <You’re right about that.> Postscript: And that again is the ending of another book. This one introduces Archon's rival, Madelene. I particularly enjoyed coming up with her character. Though she does seem to be and is described as a stereotypical goth, and admittedly that was the initial inspiration, I have thought up a background and motivations for her. She will be showing up later, and thanks to her selfish mercy, Archon's story continues. I have also added something to the discussion thread. |

Book 5 - A New Perspective Chapter 1: Dear Diary... August 30th Yesterday, my friend Tania and I gave a ride to a celebrity. I would ask you guess who it was, but since you can’t talk anyway, I’ll go ahead and tell you. It was Archon: Something Sorcerer. I don’t quite remember what it is exactly that he calls himself. Anyway, we gave him a ride to the Starbucks we were at earlier so he could get rid of all the demons. We went there with Madelene, who’s been acting weirder than usual lately, but we couldn’t find her when we left. I feel sorry for her that she missed out on meeting Archon in person. She talks a lot about him. Oh well, her loss. I’ll have to tell her about it next time I see her, ask where she went, and if she was safe. There was something I wanted to tell Archon, but I was so surprised that I couldn’t get it out. Hopefully, I could meet him again later today. With Love, Sally For a better introduction I’d like to tell you my name is Sally Edgemon. I have long brown hair and green eyes. At first I wrote my diary entries in a book until I got my own computer, which I write my diary on now. It took a while to get the hang of it and learn to type quickly. I currently go to McNewtonvil University majoring in business to follow my father’s career. He supports me on my decision, but would rather I just marry a businessman. I feel he’s strict with me most of the time because I’m a girl and his only child. My main problem is that everyone implies that girls can’t be as good as boys. I grew up in a rich, Catholic family that is pretty strict with me afraid I would get hurt or get in some other form of trouble. From kindergarten to twelfth grade, my parents only enrolled me in private Catholic schools. I still have my uniform from then in my closet. When I was young, like any other children I liked to watch cartoons. For a while, my parents didn’t allow me to watch the Japanese cartoons. I overheard them say it would “corrupt me” and that the Japanese are heathens. Eventually they gave and allowed me to watch my favorite show, Sailor Moon, and no other anime until they believed I was mature enough to choose my own shows. Even though I watched many other anime since then, most of them were the same type as Sailor Moon, which has been my favorite since I first watched it. Recently I’ve had a hobby of mine to sew together a costume somewhere between “Sailor Scout” and my old school uniform. I have heard other anime fans call it "cosplay". Also in my room is a lot of anime stuff including DVDs, comics which I recently discovered, and posters. I used to have a bunch of other types of Sailor Moon themed decorations like a bedspread and pillows, but I outgrew them long ago. Another thing in my room that I am fond of is my cat, Ezequiel’s, bed. He sleeps in my room every night. Edited by ShichiNoBushi, Apr 1 2014, 01:53 AM.

Chapter 2: Another Origin Story A few months ago, when I first found Zeeky, as I like to call him, he was a stray. He seemed to like me at the time, yet looked puzzled. He has dark smoky fur with patches of black which are hard to notice. For a while I just fed him and gave him milk which he reluctantly drank and made him stay outside. After a while, my parents saw him try to come in, as he always did when I left him, and thought it would be okay to keep him inside at least until his owner came to get him, which never happened, of course. When it came time to name him, I really liked the name Ezequiel, and my parents agreed. For the first couple of weeks, it was okay as we were expecting his previous owners. He like staying in my room at night and around me the rest of the time. For long periods of time he would look outside my window as if looking for something. Other times we wouldn’t be able to find him anywhere in the house but later ended up somewhere we checked dozens of times. He seemed to eat less than any other cat I’ve seen regardless of how active he was. One night I heard the window crash downstairs. I was curious and wanted to see what it was. Every time I reached for the knob on my door, Zeeky would let out a cat growl at me. I tried several times getting interrupted each time until I thought he was just being weird, and as I opened the door, he leaped down from the window and rushed out the door. As I walked down the hall, Zeeky would stay in front of me like he was trying to block my path. He kept growling as we went through the hall, hissed a couple of times, and swiped at me once. Weird cat. I thought as I continued down the hall. I got to the top of the stairs when I saw through the darkness the broken window and something shuffling in the shadows. Zeeky growled again, but this time to whatever it was that I saw. “Hello?” I greeted. The creature stopped and looked at me with “evil,” glowing eyes, and Zeeky growled again as he leaped down from the balcony and out of view. This was where things got really weird. When I saw him again, he seemed bigger, about the size of a large dog, and his fur seemed longer and formed into spines. I still couldn’t tell what the other thing was, but it looked a bit like a dog. The “dog” leaped at Zeeky, and my cat rolled it over and started scratching at it with big claws. This looked like a normal animal fight until the dog got out from under Eezy and flew into the wall. It didn’t look like it jumped, but Zeeky didn’t touch it, either. The dog then spit out fireballs at Zeeky, but they just stopped in place before they could hit him or anything else. The dog charged forward, seemingly not of his will, and Zeeky leaped at it, too. In mid-air, he slashed at it, and the dog fell in several pieces. I ran to turn on the light and see what happened. Zeeky shrunk back to his normal kitty size, and the pieces of the dog disintegrated and turned to smoke that escaped through the window. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I asked to myself “What the heck was that?” “It was a demon,” Ezequiel spoke, “and I got rid of it to protect you.” |

Chapter 3: Clean Up and Cover Up After the big fight, Ezequiel told me he was really a spirit in the form of a cat. It turned out that his real name was Ezequiel Loxtercamp, and he compelled us to use it when we “named” him. Though he looks like a cat, he is really a spirit that prefers to take the form of one which explains his strange behavior. He had escaped from a mental realm where thoughts and ideas are made manifest, and a portal from that plane to the physical world had opened allowing spirits and demons to enter our world and manifest physically. He found me by following a strong emotional and spiritual energy and expected to find a magician or something. When he saw me, he was disappointed, but decided to stay with me because of my kindness, and he got attached to me. I was his friend. He asked me to help him clean up the mess he made during his fight. There wasn’t really much to clean up. Mainly just the dent in the wall and a few singes from the fire balls. There wasn’t much for me to do other than pointing things out, and he used what he called “telekinesis” to fix the damages. I pointed out the hole in the window and said my parents wouldn’t like seeing it. He started lifting pieces of glass and fitted them in place like a puzzle. Once they were in place, he fused them together and mostly fixed the window when my mom was on the balcony. “What happened to the window?” she yawned. “Uuh... Eezy was uh chasing something and a-accidentally ran into the window, and uh you just came in on me scolding him. BAD kitty.” I thrusted my finger at him. <Don’t push this on me.> I heard Zeeky in my head. Mom yawned again. “Just make sure you keep him under control next time.” She left back to her room. “Well, it makes more sense than ME hitting the window,” I whispered. “And what was that you did earlier, I didn’t really hear you.” “It was telepathic communication. I wanted to make sure your mom couldn’t hear me.” “Oh, I get it now.” “Good. How about you go back to your room as I finish this up.” A while later, my door, which I closed out of habit, opened up by itself and Zeeky came into my room, closed it back up, and jumped onto my bed. “Finished. The window is back to the way it was before the demon broke in.” I had been reading one of my Sailor Moon comics. “Can you teach me to use magic?” “What?” Eezy responded with a mix of surprise and apprehension. “Can you teach me how to do what you did to that demon? This is turning out to be like my magical girl stuff. I have always wanted powers like them, and now I have the chance, but I need you to teach me. Will you?” “This isn’t like your absurd ‘magical girl’ stuff. These are real demons and they are really dangerous. You could get killed or worse.” “You sound like my father. You don’t think I could do it because I’m a girl.” “That’s not the case.” “Then please teach me.” “You’ll get hurt.” “Pleeeease.” “Ugh... alright, but only because it could help you protect yourself. No telling what else would come here because of my presence or how I found you myself in the first place.” “Yippee!” |

Chapter 4: Mahou Shoujo It has been a few months since then, and I think I’m getting the hang of my magical abilities. I try to keep it secret, especially from my parents. No telling how they would react. They might think I’m practicing witchcraft and working with The Devil, but I prefer to think I'm using Christianity as my influence. For quite a while, I have seen many news reports about Archon and the demons he fights. Even though he has only been in the public for only a few months, I have started looking at him as an idol or celebrity. Whenever they show video footage of him, I pay attention to what he’s doing and try to figure out how he does it. I was thinking I could be a demon-hunter like him if I could train enough. Honestly, I had been making my costume from before I met Zeeky, intending to wear it to a costume party, convention, or something. When I decided to be a “super hero,” I thought it would be my costume when fighting. As I said earlier, my costume is designed to be a mix of Sailor Scout and my Catholic school uniform. The main part is a white spandex leotard with the collar and neckerchief on those Japanese sailor uniforms, an open blue vest, and short sleeves. Sewn to the leotard is a knee-length, pleated, blue skirt. It includes blue silk gloves and blue low-top shoes with white, mid-calf length socks. To help hide my face, I wear a blue domino mask over my eyes. “Are you seriously going to wear that thing when you fight demons?” my cat asked me. “I can’t wear my normal clothes,” I replied, “I at least don’t want my parents recognizing me. Besides, Archon wears a costume.” “But Archon’s costume is more practical. If you haven’t noticed, he wears loose robes made for fighting. He doesn’t wear skin-tight spandex. It’s more function than style.” “I don’t care. I like it. It’s like my magical girl stuff.” As you have noticed, I am a huge fan of “magical girl” over any other anime genre. I have noticed another anime fan at school. He has long hair tied in a pony tail, and I first saw him in History class. I think the class is pretty boring, so my mind starts to wander. Sometimes I would look over and see him holding his hands close together and looking closely at them. He would then notice me watching him, then stop and listen to the lecture. One day at the end of class he picked up his backpack and threw it around his shoulder, and a book flew from an open pocket. He didn’t seem to notice as he walked toward the door. I went down to his desk, picked up the book, and returned it to him. It looked like one of my anime comics. "Yu Yu Hakusho" I think it was called. “Hey!” I yelled at him as I ran to catch up, “You dropped your book.” He seemed to ignore me until I ran into him. “Oh, you were talking to me, sorry,” he replied, “Aw man! My manga. Thanks for bringing it to me. I would have gone crazy if I lost it.” “You’re an anime fan?” “I LOVE anime.” “Me too. My name’s Sally Edgemon.” “I’m Cody Como.” We shook hands. He then started squinting as he looked at something behind me. I looked behind me then checked if there was something wrong with my hair, but there was nothing unusual. “Don’t worry about that,” he said. “So... you want to come to my house sometime to watch Sailor Moon?” I offered. “I haven’t been able to watched any of my shows with anyone else.” “Sailor Moon?” He looked around and seemed nervous. “Uh... no thanks. Not right now. Maybe later. Thanks for the offer, though. I'll see you later.” And he left for his next class. I asked him a few more times after that, but he always turned me down. I even sat with him a few times at anime club events, but lately, I’ve been mainly interested in Archon. Maybe he could teach me something, or we could even be a duo. I wouldn’t mind being his side kick. Back to the present, there was a news report about another monster attacking downtown. Seeing this as an opportunity to use my powers, I packed up my costume in a backpack and left the house. Luckily, my parents were at their jobs and couldn’t see me as I left. Ezequiel met me outside. I drove my car down to a place near the demon attack and parked it. I then went into a public restroom to change and put on a crucifix necklace. I even tried braiding my hair like Archon demonstrated on Tania, yesterday. As I emerged, I noticed Zeeky had turned into that thing he was when he fought that first demon. As I ran from there to where the demon was, people stared and pointed at me. “I’m going to fight the demon,” I said to them, and they laughed. But I kept running. |

Chapter 5: A New Super Hero I had finally gotten to mall that was under attack and saw the demon. It looked like a red and black mutant bear with a long tail. Its shoulders and other joints were decorated with spikes pointing toward its body. Its upper body was larger in proportion to the rest of it for a bear. It had just knocked one of its victims out and was getting ready to attack him before I interrupted it. “Hey, Demon!” I yelled. It turned its head revealing its eyes and snarling mouth. Its eyes glowed red, and even though its pupils weren’t visible, I could tell he was looking at me. I admit that I was terrified, but then I remembered that Sailor Moon and especially Archon wouldn’t run away. “You have hurt more than enough innocent and defenseless people! I have come to destroy you, and you will face the wrath of The Almighty God! I am Magical Priestess Sally!” I might be mistaken, but the bear demon looked like it grinned a bit. Then it slowly turned around and let out a terrible, deafening roar. Not much like what I expected from a bear. I held my palm flat and thrust it toward the “bear.” “HOLY STRIKE!!” I screamed as I hit it with a sudden, powerful telekinetic force. It recoiled a bit but didn’t show any sign of damage. It just looked at me and charged. I tried to keep my courage up. “HOLY SHIFT!!” I screamed as I moved him to the side and leaped in the opposite direction. I was standing right next to its side when I closed in and charged my hand with energy. “HOLY PUNCH!!” I struck my fist into it. Hardly anything happened. The demon just looked at me. “HOLY PUNCH! HOLY PUNCH, PUNCH, PUNCH!” I repeated with multiple jabs into its side. “ROOOOAAARRR!!” I covered my ears and staggered backwards. The demon raised one of its claws ready to strike. BOOM, BOOM. Its attack was interrupted by explosions on its other side. Ezequiel was spitting fireballs at it. The demon shifted its attention to my cat and was immediately slammed into the ground. It struggled and got back up, roared, and struck Zeeky sending him flying. With that distraction out of the way, it continued to attack me. “HOLY STRIKE! HOLY STRIKE!” Again, no use. The demon crept closer and got into striking range. It raised its claw up again and swung it down. “HOLYSHIELD!” I just put up a barrier in time to keep it from hitting me, but I was knocked back. The demon then grabbed my right arm with one of its claws and lifted me up until I was barely standing on the tips of my feet. It raised the other claw to strike me. I was unable to avoid the attack. I tensed up and closed my eyes. Help me. BASH! Suddenly, my arm was released, and I dropped to the ground in a pile. I opened my eyes just in time to see a man in brown robes fly by. I looked over and saw Archon standing with his back to me and the demon bear knocked on it’s back in front of him. He saved me. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I’m a bit sore,” I answered as I massaged my arm. “That’s expected. This guy seems to be too big for you. You should probably leave like...” He stopped in mid-sentence when he turned his head to look at me and just stared at me for a couple of seconds. “That costume. Don’t tell me your… Sailor… ugh… magical g’… that’s just… ugh. Never mind.” “But I want to help.” “Your not strong enough! You’re going to get yourself seriously hurt like what already almost happened to you.” “Just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I can’t do anything you can.” “You being a girl has nothing to do with it. Knowing a few tricks and trying to be brave doesn't immediately make you hero. You can’t do this on your own.” Just then, the bear had recovered, and Archon started fighting it. My eyes started to tear up. I just want to help. <I’m here to give you that opportunity,> spoke an unfamiliar voice in my head. “Who are you?” I asked out loud. <First of all, you need to learn not to talk to someone you hear in your head. Second, I am one of Archon’s spirit companions. My name is Jae Hai. I am an ex-monk from Tibet. Archon uses me when he needs to fight unarmed, and since you don’t seem to have any weapons, he has asked that I help you.> <Don’t get any perverted ideas about me. I’ve watched Inu Yasha.> <I assure you I won’t, and I’m not that kind of monk. I’m a martial artist.> <How does he ‘use’ you?> <He lets me possess him. If you just relax I could demonstrate.> Without me trying or even thinking about it, I stood up. It felt strange having my body move on its own. <If you let me, I could use your body to fight the demon. Meanwhile you can focus on your magic. For instance, you can use your ‘Holy Punch’ or even work on healing yourself.> <Heal myself? How?> <Sorry, I don’t know anything about that.> My cat then spoke up, <I can help you with that now and teach you later.> Zeeky, still in his combat form, came out of nowhere, walked up to me, and laid a paw/claw on my arm. It started tingling, and the pain in it went away. I opened and closed my hand. “Thanks.” I charged up my fists, and they raised ready to punch something. The monk charged at the bear already in combat with Archon. My fists flew faster than I thought I could move them, but Jae Hai seemed frustrated. <Argh. You’re even slower than Archon was when he first used me.> |

Chapter 6: Identity Revealed… Again Without having to worry about throwing the punches myself, I focused more on charging my fists with magical energy and was able to deal much greater damage to the demon compared to before. Every once in a while, the demon would get to far away from us and I’d hit him with “Holy Strikes.” I would occasionally use “Holy Shifts” and “Holy Shields.” Shifts were mostly used when Archon asked that I do them, but I used shields more often. Ezequiel joined in slashing and blasting it. Archon used what looked like two axes made out of energy and swung them a bit wildly and imprecisely. His cloak had been removed revealing his braid. After a battle that seemed to go on for quite a while, the bear demon collapsed and disintegrated. A black smoke rose from it and was sucked into Archon’s hands, and Archon shot it downward where it seemed to disappear. Then, I felt Jae Hai leave my body. “Yesss!! We won!” I cheered as I gave a V-for-victory sign. Archon collected his cloak and spotted something. As he picked it up and showed it to me, he said “I think this is yours. S-Sally Edgemon?” Ah man! I thought. He must remember me from yesterday. “Oh yeah, my friend and I gave you a ride.” I said nervously, “But wait, I never told you my last name. How do you know?” “Uuh…” He said dully as he thought for a moment with eyes darting around as if looking for an answer. “Ugh, how many people have to figure out who really I am?” He looked around. “I’m sure it would be fair if we knew who each of us was.” He took his scarf off of his face. “You’re Cody Como? Haha. I’m not that surprised, though. You acted pretty weird when we first met.” “I was surprised to see how strong your aura was at the time. That’s what I was looking at. Were you practicing your magic back then?” “Yeah, Zeeky was teaching me,” I said as I pet my “cat.” “My real name is Ezequiel,” he corrected. “Wow! A cat spirit.” The girl that was in the back of the car with me before appeared. “I suppose you also came from The Realm of the Mind.” “You’re Archon’s spirit guide?” “I’ve been with him ever since he opened the rift.” “HE opened the rift and allowed demons to enter this world?” “Yes,” Cody replied ashamedly. “And also fighting them because of it. I’m responsible.” He seemed to be upset. I looked at him puzzled and then smiled. “Cheer up! At least we have these powers to use. That’s something good to think about.” That seemed to make him more angry. “That’s not exactly a good side to this. I know for sure that there are some that would abuse these powers. I’m responsible for them, too.” I could see his aura glow around him. It looked almost like a flame, but then he calmed down. He looked at me and grinned. “I’m sorry. I almost forgot that there are also some willing to fight for what’s right.” He took one of two rings off of one of his fingers. I just noticed that he had mostly cut the fingers of his gloves possibly to make it easier to wear his rings. The ring had what looked like a red cross like on first-aid kits on it. “Take this. You’ll need it more than me.” He put it in my hand. “I have been working on giving items magical abilities. These rings are the first I’ve made. The one I’m wearing has telekinetic abilities, and the one I gave you heals the wearer. Both take energy from the user to work, though. I have a feeling you’ll get hurt more often than me.” “Thanks,” I said as I put on the ring. The moment it was on, I felt a soothing energy go through me. I had been a bit sore from the big fight, but I started feeling a bit better. “Do you think you can help train me in magic?” “I don’t know. I’m still training with Genesis. I’m sure our spirit guides know much more about magic than we do. It’s best to stick with them for now.” “You want to come watch anime with me then?” “Sailor Moon? I suppose so.” “Can I come, too?” Genesis requested. |
