~CHOCOBO RANCH~ Welcome! Here we, as a forum, can raise one of Final Fantasy’s iconic, adorable, agile, and heroic horsebirds. I feel like this idea is a rather fuzzy cross in between a CYOA and a forum game, but I ultimately decided to put it in here if only because I think it may veer more toward the former, though HOW much of a narrative this develops is partially up to what you guys want to do, and partially how on what sort of responses I feel like writing. Given the extremely basic and silly premise, I’m keeping this as simple and open-ended as I can. I mean, I will have stats and such in place to keep track of the condition/progress in raising our chocobo, but ultimately, whatever happens and whatever we do with this oversized bird is up to you guys. I’ll probably throw some scripted events and maybe an overarching background plot, but it’s up to you guys to determine what comes out of those. I’ll typically pick the most popular suggestion, but given how open ended I’m allowing this to be, I may go for more creative options if I think they’re worth going against popular vote.Oh, and we’re keeping things rather PG. I shouldn’t have to say this, but even if 100% of the player input favors otherwise, I am keeping the events that happen within the rules of the forum. ANYWHO, before we start, we need to know what sort of chocobo we have on our hands! To start with, leave your suggestions for… -Our chocobo’s name -Whether it’s male or female -And its color (And by extension, its breed). I’d prefer to keep this within the colors that have existed in FF games, but that covers a lot anyway. I have an starting reply mostly written up, I'll post that in a few days (or whenever I think we have some definite winners for these choices, whatever comes first). |

Name: Cho-bo-bo Co-bo-co-bo ("Cho-bo-bo" for short) Gender: a coin-flip (1 = female, 2 = male) [result]2&2,1d2,0,2&1d2[/result] We need to start with the standard yellow and breed up to any of the other colors. Or it needs to find chocoglyphs that lead to where to upgrade to the other forms. |

Well, our gender is pretty decisive… but the other two factors seem to be kindof sortof tied. We technically have a 3-way tie for our bird’s name, but the first two are really similar, so I think I’ll go with the earlier of those two, Chou-bo-bo. As for color, we technically have a tie for dark red and yellow- however, I can’t find any images of dark red chocobos, so I think I’ll move those votes over towards the closest color, red. Which means Deej gets his wish. :U ... fien, we’ll say it’s relatively dark for red chocobos ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It’s another quiet day on the Chocobo Ranch. Chou-bo-bo has hatched just a few weeks ago, and he is still a young chick that has only occasionally seen the world outside the ranch’s pastures, whose dark-crimson plumed-body only measures a foot tall. Clouds are floating idly through the sea of the sky, a gentle breeze is brushing the vibrant grasslands, and the pond is glistening in the sunlight. Chou-bo-bo is surrounded by about 100 square meters of open space, encircled by a tall wooden fence- it’s clear that the ranch was built anticipating older chocobos, but it was created just last month, and the owners have had their hands full enough on getting the sole chocobo they have, much less an adult one. The gap in between the fence’s horizontal guards is wide enough for Chou-bo-b- You know it’s slightly awkward for me to write out that name so Imma abbreviate that as Chou for the most part in the text now. Okay? I hope that’s okay. The gap in between the fence’s horizontal guards is wide enough for Chou to squeeze through, but the ranchers trust him enough to not do that… at least, they doubt he would, given all the warnings of monsters in the wild fields and forests. The quaint little hut where the ranch’s owners live is empty- at the moment, they’ve gone out to town in order get some much-needed Greens, as Chou has none left except a single bunch of Gysahl. Since everyone happens to have work to do on top of heading all the way to town, it’s gonna be a very quiet afternoon unless he does SOMETHING other than laze around… The ranchers have recently managed to scrounge up enough gil to buy Chou some new toys to exercise and play with, strewn about the ranch’s grounds. A bouncy ball for kicking, a doll of a Knight to practice carrying, a few books to read (which he can totally understand)... there might be some other things in the shed, but the door is locked. Though they are somewhat large relative to him, he could probably take one of these items into his inventory, not that he has to in order to do anything with them. What does Chou do? Status

I’ll typically pick the most popular suggestion, but given how open ended I’m allowing this to be, I may go for more creative options if I think they’re worth going against popular vote.
