Interesting points. On the twitter feed specifically, it broke when Twitter phased out the old API. I made an attempt sometime in the past to fix it but I didn't really get anywhere. I assumed I would at least need to host a script that would allow the feed to work, which I wasn't too keen on at the time. I can take another shot at it though, I'm quite sure I'd be able to get it working again. |

Well, it's not as pretty as it was before, but I can make Widgets in Twitter, which I can then include here. Spent some time customizing it, and that's what I got. It'd be really swell if I could make it wider, but that's as wide as it gets. edit: and fast reply seems to be borked... Edited by NakaTeleeli, Apr 15 2014, 11:28 AM.

Hm, this forum has grown a lot, even with drama and all that that's happened in the past kero. I don't want to say the skype chats have killed off discussion to the forum, but they seem to have put a little dent kero. Though another thing is that people are often busy with their lives, and what old members used to be in seemingly all the time, may end up having their time cut short, whether it be college, work, change of work environment, second jobs, time zone differences (like seeing the forum "asleep" when it may be day for them but night for EST), and among many other things kero. Though in how to revive it, I think there's alot of the topics already there to discuss many things, maybe even attract newcomers, but I think a bigger part would be getting the community involved in something kero. It's fine to have the inner circle, but when it gets to the point like during some other's streams the streamer is only paying attention to the inner group and uncommonly checking the chat, it creates this rift of isolation between the person and his/her community kero. Now I've also seen another streamer where they're right down with the community, and even stresses with the other streamers to not have this attitude of not being "above" the community kero. Though one thing could be having a way to let the community get involved as well kero. That could range from stream interaction, to contests (things live "create a level" design in either premade game with level editor (depending on the game chosen) or freestyle coding), showing fanart (though this could be taken by some people as self stroking ego rather than appreciation), or even doing events to get community involved, like a chance to play MH3U together or other games kero. So in short answer, I think a way to revive the forum and draw in more/new people would be doing things to get the community involved kero. What Naka would let himself get involved in with getting involving in the community is entirely up to him, his friends, and his/comfort levels, because Naka, like everyone else, is still human kero. |

One thing I'd personally like to do, but know Naka probably doesn't want to, is to actually join Naka in a game sometime. Perhaps if Naka were streaming, he could join up with some of the stream members in various games. Of course, Naka has stated that he doesn't generally wish to do so, but I know if there were a chance we could play some games with him, I'd jump at it. Of course, then there's my schedule, and the fact that the games we own barely intersect, but that's beside the point. |

Deliciously delicious.

I don't know if that would get the forum itself going, though. Amateur's opinion here, but that would just make it another Skype or Shoutbox; people from the forum would only come for the Steam/Streaming stuff, and if they wanted to talk about the game, they would do it over Skype instead of any thread we create. I'll also (sheepishly) admit I tried to do a little thing by making a topic about an anime I wanted to talk about, but no one really picked up on that. I think it was because I made the mistake of soon posting on another thread (and the fact that it probably didn't interest anyone). People usually come here to do a quick check. I do it too, so the "latest-topic-posted-in" thing on the front page may or may not be how some people do their checking. Although, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong on that last one. |

Fairly sure I've given up.

Now I know that I'm basically the last person who SHOULD make a comment about it, since I'm the Speedy in question here... Buuuut I would advise AGAINST combining the sections.. simply because of the SHEER AMOUNT OF TOPICS. Everything would just get buried under everything else. |

I think we might be able to combine Anime/Manga into Games and just rename it Media Discussion, or something like that. Right now, there's nowhere to talk about non-anime movies. On the other hand, I'm not sure entirely that we should, again for the same reasons Speedy said. There are a lot of topics in there, and although some of them seem stagnant, topics get created with enough frequency to push older ones away. Some of those older topics might be slow and active, like Elsword. Edited by JBRam, Apr 15 2014, 02:45 PM.

The gaming section only appears to get 4-5 topics made per month, but if you'd prefer keep it in its own section, it's at least being updated more than the anime/manga section, which has a topic on the front page whose last post was February of LAST year. Seeing as my schtick is sort of videogames, I could see keeping the gaming section, moving intros into a subsection in general, and combining anime/manga with general. |

Thank you so much, Naka, that's exactly what I was trying to get across. As for moving the sections around, I was rather fond of the idea of combining the anime/manga and the gaming sections. But after further thought, I think it would be better for the forum if we went with Naka's own suggestion about moving anime/manga into general and making intros a subsection for general. I'm not so sure about community events, though. While it's a good idea, it doesn't exactly help draw people to the forum. If we were to do some, they'd have to be well thought out so as to actually bring life back to the forum and not away from it like the Skype topics have already done. Yeah, that is a problem, people click on those and sometimes miss out on some topics that they would have been interested in. And nobody wants to take the time to shift through all the sections for new topics. Personally, I just go straight to the active topics list every time because I'd hate to overlook a topic I might have been interested in. The problem with that, though, is that the link to it is way down in the bottom right-hand corner of the front page and people are less likely to go there. Or if you feel like breaking the gaming section into a more organized field kero. Problem is with combining subsections is you end up flooding and creating a mess to haft to sift through to find the topic you may want kero. Especially when you have so many topics here and there, and the eventual topics to come up, you'll end up having people scratching their end to sift through maybe 3 pages if they forgot the exact name title that someone made for a topic kero. This could just be a bit of OCD talking, but the gaming general topic is already kind of jumbled into a pile kero. What I would like to see at least would be: Spoiler: click to toggle At least then Console topics would be more organized, with the bonus of having both news and games in each individual field kero. It may seem bogging and tedious, but it saves having to wade through topic after topic to find something when every "general" topic is suddenly dumped in kero. I left the other just in the sake of any other topics about games, but that's entirely up to speculation kero. Which the same could sadly go with combining introductions into general topic kero. Mostly because it can suddenly become intimidating for some members/newcomers to go searching and looking through for topics (when they're not using the search function), and in general would risk making the particular subforum look like a complete mess kero. |
