For those that aren't aware, I am trying to get into the game development industry and even went to college specifically to study game design. I received a Bachelor's of Arts in a major called Arts and Technology (ATEC) and specialized in game design. As my final project I wrote a game design document for a game and about a year ago started creating a prototype. In summary, the game is a puzzle platformer that is primarily controlled with the mouse. The player directly controls a mobile light source (a fairy) which is followed by the other character (a kid) through a dark environment. Most of the challenges of the involve platforming (obviously) as well as exploring the levels to reach the exit or open closed paths. I've already copied the document to Drive for others to look at and comment. I also have a couple screen shots from the game. One without the lighting ![]() One with the lighting ![]() I can also share the prototype itself, but since I created this on a Mac version of Game Maker, I can only create .app files. I can also share the original Game Maker file so anyone else may create a .exe version. I'm mainly starting this thread to get some constructive criticism or suggestions, but I would also appreciate any help anyone else may apply to this project. Some help you may provide can range from advice for using Game Maker for Mac or other game engines to sharing code or assets that I may use in the game. I may even try forming a proper development team if things go well enough. |

Fairly sure I've given up.

Honestly, I would pretty much suggest Unity instead. It might take longer, but I believe you can get better results with that. I'm also in the process of reading on Unity.. which translates to 'I've barely started', eheh... simply because it's a more powerful engine than Game Maker could ever be. Never mind free for small companies and individuals. |

I already have a version of Unity, but haven't gotten around to really messing around with it or even trying to find tutorials. I might try to use it if I get a little more motivated or get more support. |
