For me, that's at least 6 for every birthday in my family that we go out to celebrate, plus how ever many times we go out to eat normally, so that would probably equal out to around... 14 times a year. But I'm just curious how many times one of you guys goes out to a restaurant and such every year. Like, what would you average that out to, any ideas? |

Our family used to go out and get takeout twice a week, but I don't think that's what you're talking about. As for actually going out to a proper restaurant... We tend not to very often at all. Especially now that I'm on my own. By myself I'd simply never go. Perhaps once a year on my birthday with my parents. With MadameBerry now living with me, I like to do something now and then, but it's still probably only once every few months. |

For me... Not too much, I'm rather frugal, and live here with just one roommate. He tends to do his own thing, so unless someone asks me to go, not much... I go to places quite a bit when I'm back home with friends though. Some of my cousins like going out as well. It's just a bit outside of my regular budget. My parents are ones to go out on a whim. They're a bit less conservative with their funds than I am, though >_> Plus, going out requires freezing my butt off or waiting for a bus, and THEN freezing my butt off. More trouble than it's worth regularly... Hmm... Maybe like 3 times here? A bunch of times back home. Too many to count. I'm actually heading out to Applebees on my birthday though. I have an international friend who's never been, and she wants to see what it's like. I'm gonna let her take the embarrassing birthday song. |

None, as I'm single now. OH! You mean having dinner away from home? Well, does takeaway like Subway, Hungry Jacks, or the local Chinese shop count? Because if you only mean sitting in and eating at a proper restaurant, then probably two or three times a year. I don't leave the house much, least of all for food.
I want to have that freaking song outlawed. Edited by HexZyle, Feb 5 2015, 09:08 PM.

Fairly sure I've given up.

Kinda depends on what is seen as 'eat out'. We extremely sporadically go to this wok restaurant which is more like a walking buffet than anything, and maybe once or twice a month we hit a fast food restaurant like McDs, BK or KFC.. Beyond that, maybe once or twice every few months we go to an actual restaurant, but since they tend to be pricey it doesn't happen alot. If we also count TAKE-OUT, which has been mentioned a few times, that happens alot more, if only because it is rather cheap. There's a good Chinese takeout, as well as a good snackbar and a good döner shop nearby where we get stuff from like once or twice a week. I'm also not above ordering food, which usually ends up being fast-food wok, pizza or shoarma.

Stuff like Wendy's, my family goes out as often as it can, stuff upwards of once or twice a week. Eating at a proper restaraunt we almost never do. |

I generally try to go out to a restaraunt about once a month, with the new job under my belt, I might make it a bi-monthly escapade. Though my reasoning for it isn't to go and eat, it's to go OUT, and eat, as I have EXTREMELY bad social anxieties, taking the time to go out and have dinner out of the house is a fantastic way to 'incorporate' myself into society, without necessarily being Social. For Take out/fast food, generally once a week to every other week. That might, again, go up a bit now that I have access to my own paycheck rather than bumming off of families. |

It's hard to gauge how many times I go out for lunch because it's usually a spur of the moment thing, if it's a really taxing day then my mother sometimes just decides to go and pick something up for lunch. If I had to guess it'd be somewhere in the range of 30-40 times a year. That's genuine sit down in the restaurant and eating. I couldn't fathom how many times we order something out in a year. |

My grandma and I eat out a lot. There's a lot of factors involved, but the main reason is no one can or wants to cook. We almost never go to fast food though, pretty much always sit down places. We're fortunate to live in a town with like a million different ethnicities running restaurants and stands though, so we can eat for $5 and have good plate of Mexican food, or for about the same price enjoy good portions of phỏ or moussaka or something like aloo gobhi. It's a bad way to stay healthy though. It's easy to overload on carbs, or disregard something like cholesterol. But ironically because of people's nearly fatal once lack of talent, how little effort we're willing to invest, people's diets, and people's tastes, we probably eat better with professionals cooking the food than if we were in charge of it ourselves. I know at least when I'm on my own I pretty much just eat bread and sweet things. So yeah, super bad for health. One really important thing though - unless you're really celebrating always plan on taking some home. Helps with portions. As for any place that costs more than ~$10 per person... pretty much never, except on birthdays, or the 24th because that was an important day. |
