So, as some of you already know, I plan to move out of state before/around the end of this month - I"m not giving details as to why or where, but just know this is a thing and it's a 20 hour drive on the highway. Well, about 4 months ago, the car starting clicking whenever I started to turn the car. I'm not exactly mechanically inclined, but I know this isn't supposed to happen. It hasn't caused any problems for me yet, but to be on the safe side, I decided that before I take the car out on the road for that long, a professional is needed for that to ensure nothing serious is wrong. The professional yesterday told me that both of the front axle CV joints were breaking, the right side is about to break and needs to be replaced as quickly as possible. So I had them quote me a price and it came up to 361.55 for both joints. Trying to determine my options, I contacted my brother in law and talked to him for a while regarding the issue. He said to contact the dealership for Hyundai and discuss it with them and see what they say. Dealership quoted 700 dollars for both CV joints. I nearly died at hearing that cost. Then they told me one thing that made me explode with excitement because it's just filled with amazing. They can replace the entire front axle assembly (CV joints are included) for like 220 on estimate (they need to check the car's vin for the exact part before they get a more accurate quote). Tell me if you weren't in this situation you wouldn't explode on spot. |
