Dark Kingdom Gaming is a small and very new game development group, and we are looking for an artist to work with. We here at Dark Kingdom Gaming wish to make games not to make money but because we love video games, and we wish for our artist to share these views. We would also like the potential artist to share a sample of their work with us, so we can have a idea of what to expect. Having experience with 3D modeling will be highly valued in the applicant, and having a flexible schedule to attend meetings and be able to consistently work on the project would be preferential. Being a small group the ability to work well with a team, and be able to put the game ahead of the applicant's own views is also something we are looking for. Also since we are a small group, we lack the funds to be able to pay anyone, however, upon completion of a game, the artist can expect a cut of monthly revenue at the end of each month. We will also like a meeting with the applicant over skype, google, or any other group meeting software. We thank you for your time, and we wish all applicants luck. Contact us at DarkKingdomGaming.co@gmail.com.

This sound fishy to anybody else? Doesn't really even sound like the original account owner. I mean, I may be wrong, but it doesn't sit right.

I am sorry if this sounded fishy, I know I haven't really been the most active Naka fan, doing things like posting on the forums or talking with others during the livestreams I attend, but without giving my life story I basically realized that I will need to do things that I wouldn't do before if I want strive for my dream of becoming a game designer. And if the OP didn't really sound like me well I did make this in collab with the others in my group to try to make something that sounds professional and expresses all of our ideas as a whole. I really didn't mean for it to sound like a scam or anything, but now that I think about it I haven't exactly been active on these forums so I see were you are coming from. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Fairly sure I've given up.
Nah, Naka. It's cool. I've heard of this venture before and they actually got a basic Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr..

Which XanadoRandel really should've linked to, tsk tsk.

The problem actually lies in it not being a scam. An indie game developer, with no release to their name yet, no real obvious crew.. Any work done for them would have to be free until a game gets released and money gets earned.

I'm more concerned about the state of this 'company' than anything.

You do bring up a fairly good point Speedy, and well we are probably jumping the gun a bit with this request for the artist, I mean we are much less of a company at this point and more of a group of people trying to turn a hobby into a living. But at this point we really don't have anyone who is skilled in art enough to make assets so we decided that we should turn to finding someone who shares are interest in making games to help us. Is it the right choice? Well we are not entirely sure, we are still pretty new at this and everything we do at this point is fairly experimental.

I think at this point he most helpful thing you could do is provide an example of what kind of work you would want (there are a LOT of different kinds of art that goes into games, and some people will be able to do some, but not all of them) and a bit of information on the kind of game they would be working on. We don't need secrets revealed or anything, but we'd like to know what kind of art for what kind of game. Just getting an artist to do some art, potentially in 3D is a bit vague to really grab interest I feel.

Don't play with fire, kids.
I might suggest being a bit more flexible on your end as well. Anyone who has highly flexible availability is probably looking to be paid for their art, rather than wait until a release in order to be paid. Those who have ongoing incomes generally are not highly flexible. You may also be looking for two different people: one for concept art, and a second for the 3D modeling. You should provide information on which programs you are expecting to use (as I'm sure various modeling programs interface into different engines in different ways). I also expect a little more information on what kind of games you are involved in might help as well, like Naka suggested. For example, horror games require significantly different art styles (and likely artist personalities) than 2D platformers.

Sadly, I don't know many people on VE who do much 3D modeling. I know a few 2D artists. DeviantArt may be a good place to look for 3D artists, but it's difficult to expect someone to donate large amounts of their time, be extremely flexible, and put your needs in front of their own without some form of upfront and/or ongoing payment.

Thank you all so much for advice, I honestly appreciate it. I really wouldn't mind having a flexible deal on our end, and putting up what art we would want to expect would really be useful to anyone interested, like I said we are new at this, so your advice does help. I will do my best to update it asap, but it will take a little while as I am sick right now
