It's a smart move. Fill in the pricing gap, keep undercutting opponents, use an easy cost-cutting measure...

And by all accounts, it's actually more comfortable to hold than the original 3DS. I like the clamshell protecting the screens, but the OGs screens touched and messed the top screen up anyway, so it's not even that large of a difference.

BTW, finally confirmed the screen sizes are identical to the OG. The display is actually one big screen, with a plastic divider splitting the screens up.

I like Nintendo CakeDS...

It looks like it's gonna be even harder fot Rightys to play Uprising.

Admittedly, I never really used the 3D feature all that often, mostly because it drains the battery life mega fast. The 2DS isn't bad, it's just weird.

Weird because it's actually a thing that Nintendo is actually releasing and the design is so bizarre to me that it doesn't look very official....

Fairly sure I've given up.
BRILLIANT IDEA, poor design. It's playable, it's cheaper and all it lacks is a 3D function nobody really needed in the first place.

I have it turned off ALWAYS anyway, but the goddamn switch sometimes goes to max when I put it away, and it sometimes turns on just by touching accidentally.. It's a nuisance!

I'm fairly sure this has potential, if it had only a better design..

But I have to admit I'm not yet convinced this isn't some elaborate prank.

...It cannot be folded.
This is a terrible thing. Why would they do this? This is a terrible, terrible thing.

The number one most common damage on ALL Nintendo Handhelds since the Nintendo DS:

THE TOP SCREEN BREAKING OFF.

Shitty design = STURDY AS FUCK, AND ALSO NO FOLDABLE TOPSCREEN MEANS IT CANT BREAK.

That's how my first DS Lite broke.

I don't like how every Nintendo handheld has the Start and Select buttons in a different place. Pick one location, and stick with it, please.

I agree with speedy. Great idea, bad execution. Meh if I ever break my 3DS I'll probably get a 2DS to replace it.
