Bringing THIS baby back
The only thing currently wrong with my 3DS is my R trigger refuses to work most of the time, making it impossible to play Dark Moon.

I wouldn't say it's a terrible design, but it's certainly not the greatest. Personally, I haven't, nor has anyone I know, had trouble with the top breaking off or anything of the sort. I just hope that if they're gonna continue with this DS thing, they use the fold design they've been using the past couple of years since the original came out, instead of this not-so-great one. Seriously, how is this real? When I first saw it, I legitimately thought it was just another one of those fakes that people always come up with nowadays, until I clicked the link to Nintendo's site.

This has been my problem with every single Nintendo handheld with shoulder buttons, except it's the L button instead of the R. Dunno why that is, but it has always happened.

As for the screens cracking/snapping off, I have only experience the former once, and the latter never. Seeing it as one big screen makes me cringe, because now I can no longer carry it in my pocket, and that means I will either have to constantly carry it in my hands, or get it's own carry case for it, neither of which sound appealing in the slightest. On top of that, the button set-up almost seems painful when I consider my hands, as well as considering times when I have to use both the controls and the touch screen. And to top it all off, no integrated Circle Pad Pro. I mean really, I get it's a business and all, and we're just a bunch of (willing) cash cows, but my utters are running dry Nintendo, give me a break here.

Oh dear, I forgot about having to use the touch screen. That's just gonna be awful, with the positioning of the buttons and whatnot. ._.

Just a heads up, the 2DS was made with little kids (and those with eye problems) in mind, so that they can play the games and parents don't have to worry.

Did they make it with their smaller hands in mind as well? Doesn't seem like that to me, tbh...

Maybe, maybe not. I'd wait till I could try it out first before I say much more about it, though.
I can't tell just from looking at it how bad using the touch screen, or anything like that, might be.

Yes: The buttons are higher positions than they should be. I just think the touch screen will be somewhat awkward, but this seems perfect for little kids, tbh.

let’s try and clear a few things up

on the inside, the 2DS is exactly the same as the 3DS, the only differences being that the 2DS’s case is different and that it lacks the 3D screen, making it cheaper to manufacture

the 2DS was designed as an entry-level system; something cheaper for middle-to-lower class families who wanted to get their kids a 3DS but didn’t want to / could not pay the price of the standard 3DS model, as well as offering an option for those who aren’t interested in the 3D capabilities or who wouldn’t be able to use them

in short. the 2DS is a budget system! it’s an option for those with less money to spend on video games! and don’t worry, every game compatible with the 3DS will work with the 2DS and vice versa (due to them essentially being the same on the inside, apart from the 3D screen)

hopefully everything is cleared up now!

Why are people complaining about the 2DS?

It’s a cheaper alternative to the 3DS that does all the same things, excluding 3D display, but, honestly, how many people use the 3D most/all of the time? I know I don’t. It doesn’t have the hinges that children break all the time, so parents now have a system that they can buy for their children and not have to worry about replacing it too often.

Don’t like the way it looks?

Don’t fucking buy one. Problem solved.

Don’t like the fact that it doesn’t display in 3D?

Refer to last answer, and go buy a 3DS instead, if you don’t already have one.

It’s not like Nintendo hasn’t made alternative versions of handhelds that don’t improve upon the current handheld (see Gameboy Micro).

This is a smart idea.

Honestly, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it, it’s obviously not the option you want, it’s the option that somebody else would want.

stop complaining about the 2DS

stop complaining about the 2DS

stop complaining about the 2DS

  1. stop complaining about the 2DS

YOU’RE NOT THE TARGETED DEMOGRAPHIC FOR ONCE

IT’S FOR THE CHILDREN

IT’S SO THEY DON’T CRACK OFF THE TOP OF THE 3DS

AND THE 2D WON’T HURT THEIR EYES AS MUCH AS THE 3D

YOU’RE NOT THE TARGETED DEMOGRAPHIC FOR THE 2DS

Yeah, actually, I kinda like this idea. It's no secret that I despise almost everything about the DS and the terribly named 3DS. 2DS is such a wonderful addition to the naming family, following such naming gems that have been released this year, like Xbox One. However, one of the biggest things I've disliked is the stupidly high price point. I'm not paying $170 for a handheld "console."

So in reality, the 2DS is the first handheld since the GBA that's somewhat marketed towards me. The only thing is I wish they'd get rid of that stupid and useless second screen, but I know I'm in the minority there. I'm gonna watch the price point on this. Maybe I'll get one.

Now the question for me is how good is the battery life? Because if it's better than the 3DS or 3DS XL, I'll probably end up getting it.

Actually, how good is the XL's battery life?
