Personally, I think the Xbox 360 controller is okay, but I love the Razer Onza Tournament Edition. It fixes the problems with the original controller, and adds some great features into the mix. You can customize the tension on the thumbsticks, and it even has two buttons that can be mapped to do just about anything. For instance, in Borderlands, I can reload without taking my thumb off the right stick. |

To be honest, I hate the 360 controller. Nothing about that thing is good. In my opinion. I hate the format of that controller. It's appalling to me. It's just uncomfortable, and disgusting to use. I could barely play ANY fighter using that thing, and it just feels uncomfortable. I dunno, I feel that every other controller I've used has been, in it's own right, "perfect." Nintendo 64: Interesting. Takes time to get used to, but okay. Dualshock series: Perfect, I love this. Gamecube: You, my friend, are amazing. You did everything you needed to do, amazingly. Wiimote: Okay. You're pretty decent, you do what you have to do. SNES/Wii-Classic: Simple. Comfortable. Love eet! Xbox series: Just uncomfortable. Button layout + controls for games just don't work well for me. Tournament Edition Fight-stick: This. These are Godsends. Even though I don't own one, I've used them more than enough to get used to them to an extent, and I love them! |

I've always preferred the PS controllers or game pads that are styled after them. They feel right to use and for the most part the DPad is actually fairly usable. That's one thing I never liked about the XBox controller; the DPad. I tend to prefer the DPad when playing games at times that it allows it, so to me it is a bit of a breaking point. It's not horrible, but I do prefer the PS controller's style. |

That's exactly what I mean, Dan! That's my main issue with the Xbox series, the D-Pads just feel horrible. Especially for fighters. That's all I've played on the 360. |

I honestly have the same problem with the 360 controller with fighting games, but that's why companies like Capcom and Warner Brothers gave Mad Catz permission to make special controllers for their games. For other games, though, I have had some problems with the original controller as well, which is why I bought the Razer Onza. It fixes the problems with the 360 controller, which it had to do because it was also designed as a PC game pad. The D-pad on the Onza is much better than the original controller's D-pad because it's more like a DualShock D-pad with each direction being an individual button. I like 360, but the D-pad does suck. I've always found DualShock to be a good controller. |

The PS controllers have always been the best as they are simple, and symmetrical with every button always having a practical use except maybe select, unlike the Xbox controllers with buttons everywhere, the N64 and Gamecube which had a useless D-Pad. |

I hate Dualshocks. I want my thumbs default position to be in the same place. I don't care about the controller being symmetrical, I want my hands to be symmetrical. Also, those nubs are wayyyy to small for my hands. They might as well not exist. 360's are alright. D-Pad is terrible, but usable as long as it's used more like a set of buttons than a navigation method. But the controller is meaty enough to hold. My biggest complaint with the 360 controller (and one of them for the dualshock) is the clickable joysticks. I HATE THOSE GODDAMN THINGS. There is no way to click them without moving the joystick slightly, you can easily trigger them by accident, and by and large they aren't freaking needed. If you need a third set of buttons, add another set of triggers. Do not put something I can't freaking use. Personally, I prefer Nintendo controllers. The Gamecube was the single best marathon controller ever created. It's immensely comfortable, big nubs to hold unlike the Dualshock, joystick was refined, I like the button placement (others don't) and Nintendo's D-Pad's are still the best in the industry. My only complaints were the size of the D-Pad and the C-Stick. But I never play FPS, so that's not a big problem. In fact, I wish more games relegated camera control to R and L than to the right stick. It feels more precise, and it leaves the second stick for menu navigation, which is beautiful in Action RPGs. I also like the N64 controller, but I know it's got a ton of flaws. But it's comfortable and easy to use. And older controllers all pretty much feel the same. There's not much of a learning curve between the SNES and Genesis, or even the NES for that matter. |
