Patapon, Patapon 2, and Patapon 3 are a series of games for the PSP, in which you take the role of a God overseeing an army of adorable eyeball dudes called Patapon. By beating 4 different drums in rhythm, you order them to attack, move, retreat, defend, change the weather, and even party. The games feature several RPG elements, including different classes and breeds of Patapons, hundreds of weapons/armor options, and even some nifty rhythm mini-games. As would be expected, they get more in-depth with each sequel. Spoiler: click to toggle A snippet of gameplay from Patapon Patapon 2 Launch Trailer Now, those that have played, discuss. Fairly sure I've given up.

Even though Patapon is in fact a bit more known than other games, I suggest you post some more information about the game(s), some pictures, maybe some media. Just posting a bland post like this will not do. |

... wow. <_< Anyway... I haven't played the second game, but I've played the first and enjoyed it, though I'm not all that good at it. I think I stopped playing it because I got stuck pretty early on ^^' |

First off, I don't mean to offend, but I wasn't really trying to inform people of a new game or convince people to play something, it was more of just a quick thread to see those that had played it. Regardless, the first post has been edited to include more information on the games. I hope it meets your standards. |

I'm just trying to get a bit of standard in the gaming section. We've already had too much topics with just 'hey what do you think of this game'. If you want a simple opinion, drop a post in the shoutbox, and you'll probably get a few results. But if you're making a full topic, the least one can do is post a little bit of info, pictures and some other media. This is good enough. ![]() As for playing it.. I've played the Demos. I liked them, but not quite enough to actually buy the games. |

It's not your responsibility to set a "standard". His original post was fine...

The only reason I didn't post it in the shout box was because it was around 2-5 am; I figured most people wouldn't see it, and a lot of the people that have played it wouldn't see it before it got pushed away. A thread seemed much more concrete to me. Regardless, my personal opinion on the game, I think it's brilliant. It's fun, quirky, and a brilliant concept. It seems like, for me, I always like the second game in a series over the first, due to all the improvements/changes they tend to make, and Patapon is no different. I love the second game a lot more because of the much more in-depth evolution tree, the Hero Patapon, and just overall feel I get from playing it. It just seems more fun to me. I have yet to play the third, though, so I have no opinion on that, but from what I've seen, it looks fantastic as well. |

Accurate representation of my internet self. Don't like it? I don't aim to please you.
|
Honestly, I didn't like Patapon. It was too kid-like for me. The games were way too easy for me and... honestly I got bored right quick :/ |

Oh, for those interested, I ended up getting the third game yesterday, and I must say, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Instead of separate squadrons of Patapon, you only get 4 heroes, one of which is your main hero, and the others start as the generic jobs. It's also much more RPG-style, with experience, levelling, and lots of grinding. They also seem to be really pushing the online multiplayer, throwing in bonus boss fights against giant Cthulu beasts, flat-out telling you that there's no way to beat it alone, and that you need to team up with someone to do it. |
