The Embodiment of Earth
|
From experience, love is a yearning for connection with a certain person. You want to be with that person all the time, and feel bad when you can't be. If they are unaware of your feelings, this becomes a twisting of your insides, coupled with a feeling that you're lacking air. The pain you feel when they are in pain is magnified. The moments you share, good or bad, leave you joyful the rest of the night. When you're near them, you feel your senses are heightened. You want to be better for that person's sake. Love's not quite an emotion... I'd call it more of a state of mind... But even that isn't quite true. Love causes many issues too. Those are not to be swept under the rug. Having it torn away from you can leave you in an infantile state, as if it were merely a toy to you, causing intense rage... Or sadness. You question can't truly be answered, though. Love is intangible, and we can't quite explain what emotions are either, or how we define them. If we can't do that, what could we tell you about Love? That which is even less definable, and easily fleeting? On a different note: Thank you all for your kind words! I hope all of you have a joyous day today. |

I think your description is more along the lines of "lust," even if that word has negative connotations. Love goes much further than a simple feeling or longing. |

love surpasses Mere feelings and emotions. It is a force that we can all experience, but none of us can truely understand just what it is. Nobody can explain it, truly. |

I meant it in the most romantic way possible, JB. I was doing my best not to describe lust. I knew I was kind of teetering on the edge... And it seems I fell off. I did type that after just waking up though. ... Love, in my fully awake mind, isn't something that is fully explainable. You can do your best to explain it, and perhaps you'll get really deep, but never fully encompass the meaning... But who am I to say? I'm probably too young to truly understand. There are a few things I'm experienced in... I tried to explain something I don't have much with. |

When I said it was lust, I didn't necessarily mean it in a bad way. ![]() Love is more than just a feeling. It's an all-encompassing sensation. You become basically one person with them... It's hard to explain, but it's beautiful and amazing. But you can't expect the fuzzy feelings to last forever. Sure, you'll still feel something for them, but it grows from the initial infatuation and lust stage into full-fledged love. And that's truly a beautiful thing. |

I put the "Manly"... in "Gentlemanly".

Ahem. Dictionary.com defines love as... 1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. 2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. 3. sexual passion or desire. 4. a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart. 5. (used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection, or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love? When used as a noun, of course, which is the usage I find most relevant to this discussion. Lust, in contrast, is almost completely sexual by definition. It can be used to mean more than just sexual attraction, of course, but I do not see it often these days. In addition, the connotations surrounding it are normally negative. In conclusion, that is love. Class dismissed. |

What JB said here. It really is a beautiful thing if you think about it. Just think about it. Just... Nice. |

Honestly: I'm suprised Candy hasn't talked about a certain thing about me in here but I guess he would be uncomfortable talking about it so until I know for sure he would be alright with you all I'm going to keep quiet about it. |

It's not that I'm too uncomfortable to talk about it, though I am admittedly really uncomfortable about it. It's more so because it's kinda a big thing and not something you should spout to random people on the internet. I kept quiet about it because I wanted to respect your privacy and I wasn't sure if you would be okay with me telling other people. But if you want share it with everyone, that's fine with me. Just continue keep in mind that there is no way I could ever fully accept it, sorry if that makes me sound like a jerk, but I've been in a situation for the past couples weeks that very few people have been and I doubt anyone on VE has been in; it's really taken a toll on my mentality and it's the main reason why I've nearly snapped several times throughout this time period. I still honestly don't have a clue what to do about it. I just wish I had never gotten myself into this situation, it has me so conflicted as to how to feel. |

Naku- Protip on keeping quiet about things: Don't talk about them. Also, Candy, I'm pretty sure many of VE have been in similar situations. There's a lot of people here. |
