New actual information from FF13-2 gameplay. Apparently, the Press were able to play through the first 3 chapters, and it took around 13 hours to do so. If there are 13 Chapters in 13-2, then the game will be around 60 hours, assuming all chapters are a similar length on average. http://finalfantasyxiii2.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/japanese-press-plays-final-fantasy-xiii-2-for-thirteen-hours-read-their-impressions/ This link has information on the following things: FF13 Recap in the sequel Bonus for FF13 save data Shops Towns Sidequests Interactive Dialogue (Live Trigger) Resetting Gates Fragments (sorta like the story spheres in FFX-2?) Event Scenes and realtime rendering Load times Character Growth/Crystariums/Leveling up Pokem--- I mean Monsters. Accessories/Equipment (I guess there's a ton of accessories, and some might be mostly useless) Collecting Monsters/Feral Link |

That's actually a pretty reassuring preview. I'm not going to complain about any of that kind of stuff. Also, those screenshots looked beautiful. Squeenix is still the best when it comes to that. Wonder if there's a chance of it being 3D on PS3 is. (admit it, that would be awesome) Edited by Ghoul, Nov 2 2011, 02:18 PM.

(3D is possible on Xbox too... The new Batman game has 3D support) I don't think that FF13-2 will be 3D though. I personally don't like 3D as it's usually gimmicky, both in movies and games. (3D Avatar was amazing, and 3D Batman would have been Awesome with one gimmicky bit so far.) From what I've seen, FF13-2 wouldn't have any of those gimmicks, so it would probably be fine. I'd look more for 3D in Versus though. I'm a little worried about the accessories. Maybe that one complaint was just a guy bitchin', but too many accessories can get really annoying. I hope the ones that are simply visual accessories are really cheap, both in gil cost and in equip cost. |

I rather like having too many accessories. It adds to the variety that you can have with your set up. I like everything that was shown so far, although i want to know if there is more content for having a FFXIII save on your system |

While 3D is possible on the 360, it isn't common or pushed as hard by Microsoft as Sony, since the 360 is already tapped for power. The PS3's Cell processor has just enough to push them out. And 3D is a gimmick but a fun one. Seriously, RE4 was a terrible movie if you didn't see it in 3D. If you saw it in 3D, you laughed at the absurdity and the ridiculous stunts. Same with Tron: Legacy. I sat there the entire movie with my Jaw on the ground. Not all movies are like that, and it's wayyyy overdone (Green Hornet/ every superhero movie come to mind). But games are a natural extension of 3D, since the games are already rendered in 3D, just not output that way (if I'm not mistaken). It's unnecessary, but fun. And seriously, you have to admit, there were moments in 13 that would have looked brilliant in 3D. Heck, just look at the intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUyAPNzRa2E Also, JB, have you played any games in 3D? Granted, I've only played Wipeout HD in 3D, which is a game I don't particularly care for (takes the worst of Mario Kart and F-Zero) but there were things about the 3D that were truly awesome. My personal favorite is how it changes how you look at the HUD, since it actually feels separate from the screen, which is how it should. I think it would work well in FF13 or FF13-2. |

I've never played in 3D because I don't have a 3D TV or computer screen. |

Yeah, my family just got a 3D TV (not intentionally. It happened to have the features we wanted and was passive 3D, AKA uses normal theater glasses). And during the PSN Welcome Back, I happened to choose a game with 3D functionality. It adds more to the experience than you'd expect. |

And more really cool info. I especially like the last part, where your SEN will move forward, away from the others and guard. That was the thing I disliked most about FF13: I couldn't avoid deaths sometimes. Also, I noticed that Paradigm Shifting was a lot faster in the demos. That's a good thing. I often died simply because I couldn't shift to a Medic role fast enough. http://finalfantasyxiii2.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/final-fantasy-xiii-2-directors-discuss-paradigms-summons-battle-balance-and-monster-collection/ Edited by JBRam, Nov 8 2011, 08:53 AM.
