after watching that, i got goosebumps. the only thing that i didn't like all that much from what i saw was the fact that there are now quicktime events, but as long as they don't get overboard I'm ok with them |

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of quicktime events either, but if they are simple enough, why not? >.> Also, I noticed Snow was missing. WHY. Snow is Awesome in all senses of the word. He wouldn't sit back and let Serah run off without a good reason... is Snow dead? Missing? Captured? Cie'th? Did he go after Lightning? I'll point out that LeBlanc says at the very end "Lightning is dead." I recommend people read episode i for an explanation on that... there's a pretty good translation of it linked on the Final Fantasy wiki. |

another video on FFXIII-2 although you can tell that it was taken by camcorder at E3. Apparently the moogle turns into Serah's weapon, the weapon is officially shown to become a bow, and for some reason Cacoon still has people, and if i remember JB's video right, i think that the giant hand looks like it might be from the Fal'Cie Pulse so you may be fighting him in the game. From all these videos i have to say that progress is coming along quite well. |

Nice... I'd like to see the version *with* audio. A couple notes: Cocoon still has people because it wasn't completely destroyed. Only the area around Bodhum (about 10%) was destroyed. Eden most likely is fine, except for being rampaged by giant turtle monsters and all. As for the hand, it looks more like Orphan's hand. The picture I put up for "Pulse" in my video isn't actually Gran Pulse, just an approximation of what he might look like (that was in the description somewhere, I think). So more confirmed info: Noel is native to Pulse, the Moogle isn't just there to look cute, and they (likely) meet the third party member (that girl in yellow) while on Cocoon. Also confirmed, we visit Cocoon, and the GC isn't trying to murder us anymore. Also confirmed: Serah looks freaking epic with a bow. |

I knew you would like serah with the bow, but i have to agree with you on something JB, something a lot of people have been wondering. WHERE THE HECK IS SNOW? cause if Lightning finds out what happened to Serah and snow is alive, well, he won't be for long |

lol I'm sure he's got a good reason... And Serah would need a REALLY good reason to fight. It isn't in her personality to take up arms, so she must be fighting for Snow, Lightning, or for her town on Pulse. Otherwise, she'd be a pretty little schoolteacher like she always dreamed. Also embeded that video in the OP, and larger. |

Sorry for the late reply on this... Just now got on my computer... I did get lost on a very rare occasion in ToV. However, it really didn't bug me that much, since it was just grinding I didn't have to do later. I didn't like the feeling from FF13 that I held the joystick forward. There's a good way to handle linearity and there's bad. Good linearity is like in ToV. You are going from set place to set place. However, there is still room to explore. That's the sad thing about 13. Those graphics were absolutely among the most stunning things I've ever seen. Yet the camera was pretty close to being fixed at one angle, and there were areas maybe 3 characters wide for very long stretches. It really kills the fun for me. Again, it's a good game, it's just very flawed. I actually didn't mind the not moving characters in battle. It felt more like an extension of the old school battle system which I absolutely loved. Having characters move while waiting for commands was great. And I don't remember many area attacks that didn't hit everyone anyway. Maybe if it was a problem, then adding a menu for positioning would be a good fix. The biggest problem with the battle system was something you touched on, but considering the lack of MP, it was probably a conscious decision. It would be very, very hard to kill a party if they had two medics. So it sucks, but it's also understandable. And don't expect it to be open world or anything. It'll still be largely linear, like lots of Squeenix games lately. You can see the progression even in the Kingdom Hearts series. Comparing KH1 to KH2 is night and day. KH 1 had large areas, although I got lost constantly in them. I didn't have that problem in KH2, because the opposite problem. The areas were smaller and more hallway like than area like. I feel the first game would have been fixed with a simple minimap; the second had one, but it was far from needed... Edited by Ghoul, Jun 7 2011, 11:14 PM.

Accurate representation of my internet self. Don't like it? I don't aim to please you.

After seeing what AngryJoe did in his E3 video on FFXIII-2, and I read on Blistered Thumbs, I'm that bit more excited. Improvements? Heck yeah. 1) Less linearity. You're now given OPTIONS on what to do and that you're not going to go on a straight path again. 2) Random battles ala Persona 3/4 (You have to hit your opponent, or he hits you, same deal) 3) Quick time events. I don't care if you hate it or you love it. These babies have made their way onto Final Fantasy, and boy I'd love to test my hand-eye coordination again... and timing. 4) Serah Freaking Farron. A humble little girl, possibly married to Snow by now, gets a chance to freaking FIGHT. I'm gonna love the crap out of this game like I did in XIII. |

Fairly sure I've given up.
|
You could've kept that in-series and mentioned Duodecim. ![]() Duodecim has the same deal with hitting an enemy, except if you manage to hit them, their BRV will reset to 0. If they hit you, it starts normally. |

Heck Yeah, Ken. Although I'm not sure I'd classify that as "random battles" or much different than F13 (except you couldn't actually attack outside of battle in FF13). Random battles to me are when you can't see the enemies and have to walk around in circles to find one... eventually, and can't avoid them when you don't want to fight. Like pokemon. Maybe that's why I never played that game much.
A lot of attacks that were "technically" unit attacks had a small AoE to them (like the Greater Behemoth's Sunder attacks which hurt. A LOT). When you were playing as Lightning, she would often slowly move in a circle around the enemy, and it would be targeting your Sentinel as you smacked it from behind. This was a really good way to keep out of the line of fire, but your Medic almost always stood right next to the Sentinel if SEN was in your default paradigm. Also, Hope and Vanille NEVER MOVED. All of their attacks were ranged, so they just stood in the same exact place, never moving an inch unless knocked down. That bugged me. A lot. I remember quite a few battles (like this video in my Let's Play - battle starts at 20:00, trouble at 23:00) where I died because my MED was sitting next to my SEN and I couldn't get them apart (in the above example, it was my Party Leader and the Sentinel, which is sometimes worse, but I just foojed that whole battle up). NOTE: Sorry for posting my own videos, but people generally don't showcase their fails. In FFXII, I would often get my characters into a triangle formation (more or less). Most small AoE attacks would only hit one or two party members that way. Removing that possibility kinda really sucked. I mean, there are a ton of buttons on those controllers. You could hold one to free-run, like in ToV, or select a variety of options for where party members stand. If I could just place the MED about 20 feet behind us, and the SEN right up close, that would have saved soooo much hassle. Heck, having Preemptive Strikes put us into a Triangle formation would have been Awesome. Yeah, that's the only thing I couldn't stand about the Battle System, and the only thing that really stood out to me as detracting from the game. Edited by JBRam, Jun 8 2011, 05:59 AM.
