(Yes bringing back old thread)

It's been about a year now and I've had time to think and such but I am completly confident in my decision. I will be having reassignment surgery in about 2 years. After that happens and I'm on hormone therapy I will act somewhat differently but that is to be expected.

Then Naku, should I put you on the list for female pronouns?

Or would you prefer gender neutral ones?

I'd prefer female pronouns. Gender neutral pronouns make me sometimes feel like I'm not human.

That's generally because there's no such thing as a gender neutral pronoun in the English language.
"It" does not count, as it usually pertains to inanimate objects, not living beings.

Try 'they', or the ever so slowly more common 'xir/xim'.

Anyway, added you to the list, and then updated it with people's newer names.. which was basically only Renai's, who is now 'The Rex with the Specs'. Kinda old news.

"xir" is not common.... and "they" is plural. Candy is right: There are no gender neutral pronouns. I do not refer to people with gender neutral pronouns because A) they do not exist, and B) it feels wrong as Naku pointed out.

...heck, I don't even know how to pronounce "xir"

Singular they is actually an extremely common and normal way of talking about A SINGLE PERSON, usually of indeterminate gender.

Never mind that gender neutral pronouns ARE getting more common.

Can we please accept these are VERY NORMAL WORDS and that we should FUCKING USE THEM?

Try holding a k and follow it with sir. Like ksir. You know, how you would normally use X's.

Whether gender neutral pronouns exist or not, I'm with Jeebs, it just feels wrong.
Even if they were commonly used, I wouldn't use them. But maybe that's just me.

Anyways, their existence doesn't matter. This isn't a grammar topic.

They is indeed a common singular pronoun, and I have been using it when I have been unable to determine a person's gender many times myself. Xir and xim not so much, however. This is probably the second time I've actually seen them, but only in proposition to be used as gender-neutral pronouns.

But I digress.

Yes, gender-neutral pronouns do exist. Whether you wish to use them or not is up to each and one of you. As for myself, I will resort to what is the more commonly acknowledged pronoun for when ever the situation calls for it.
